Nikolai V pondered briefly, then spoke. Everyone in the palace was taken aback. Bridge City was a mid-sized fortress within the empire, not far from the border. Adjacent to it lay a swamp known as the Phantom Swamp, abundant with minerals and magical creatures, while its eastern edge bordered a vast sea. This location attracted a large number of mercenaries, making the city’s security somewhat unstable. Most importantly, Bridge was the empire's last line of defense, preventing enemies from advancing into the imperial plains.

"Your Majesty, I don’t believe we should entrust Bridge to Viscount Franz Bonaparte," said Crown Prince Luscar. "It’s a vital stronghold, and Viscount Franz Bonaparte is too young. I fear he lacks the capability to manage such a responsibility."
