Carina's mood suddenly changed, as she assumed that Jayden's attitude was because of his ex. This made her wonder if she was not enough for him.

He felt like he was carrying a huge burden, which did not do any good in making him feel human. It looked like it was draining him, sucking up all his emotions, and making him feel lifeless.
