The way he intoned audibly made the whole room quiet down, with their eyes averting from Carina to him at intervals.

Carina's heart was thumping fast, as she did not know what to expect next. The way he spoke was already making her shudder.

Even if her food was bad, she wished that it wouldn't get him upset with Nanny Perla for letting her cook.

She bit her lips and stared at her in bewilderment. Nobody on the table understood his expression, even though it was visible enough.

Nanny Perla, sensing that the meal might not be to Jayden's taste, decided to intervene, to save Carina some of the embarrassment.

"Ja…Jayden, if—"

"You really cooked this, Carina?" He asked again, and she reluctantly nodded, playing with her fingers, expecting a painful comment.

"Wow!" He exclaimed, causing the tension in her to rise.

"This…this meal is really scrumptious! I never knew you were such a good cook!" He finally commented, and everyone on the table, who had held their breath let out a long sigh.
