RISE OF ROBERT EDWARD.
When Robert opened his eyes, he couldn't understand what was happening.
The hours have slipped by, and it wasn't just morning, but now evening. He had been unconscious for almost twenty-four hours.
He was met with a well-furnished ward filled with medical equipment; it was the best one in the state.
The whole place was lit up with LED lights, and he was lying on a bed shirtless.
He glanced down at his body only to see different medical equipment plugged into it.
Where am I? Shouldn't I have been dead by now in my dorm?” He had a puzzled expression as his mind raced, attempting to understand how he got into the hospital.
His eyes wandered around as his thoughts raced.
What could have happened?
Did he die and be sent back to life?
Or is it even a rebirth?
His brows furrowed as he scratched his head, trying to make sense of the jumbled thoughts in his mind so he could crack the code of where he was.
But the door suddenly creaked open, snapping him out of his sea of thoughts and dragging his attention away.
A man clad in a white medical gown and a stethoscope around his neck walked in. From his attire, Robert could easily decipher he was a doctor!
“Doctor, please, where am I? Why am I tied down here with different things plugged into my body?” He tried to stand up but groaned back in pain.
“Thank God you're awake! You don't have to worry; just relax. I need to give you your last dose of drugs,” the doctor said in a calm tone.
“Drugs? How? Which drugs?” Robert's confusion increased with each question he asked.
“You have to let me go; I'm a student, and I need to go to my part-time job today!”
The doctor smiled. ”Don't worry, you'll be just fine after this last one, and I'll disengage that equipment on your body.”
“Why was it out in the first place?” Robert retorted; he couldn't help but ask.
The door opened again, and a man clad in a blue suit walked in with a wide grin across his face.
When Robert saw him, he couldn't understand why the man was so happy, but he just ignored him.
The only thought in his mind was how he was going to pay for his hospital bills.
Did the school bring me here? Why didn't they take me to the infirmary? How will I pay for all of these? The doctor just keeps disconnecting from my body.
“Doctor, Are you done with him?” The man in the blue Louis Vuitton suit from last night asked.
“Yes!” The doctor turned to him. ”I just have to give him his prescribed medications so he doesn't feel pain for the next few days.”
“Okay, that's good. He needs to meet Madam President now.”
Robert's brows shot up as his mind raced with thoughts. why?
Who is Madam President?
Is she president?
That can't be, I know that our current president is a male, so who could she be, and does she want to see me?
The man waited till the doctor was done disconnecting the machines and drips in Robert's body before turning to face Robert.
"Please, young master, follow me!” The man demanded.
Robert's brows knitted in confusion as he inquired. ”Why should I follow you, huh?”
Before the man could answer, the doctor interjected. ”He brought you in, sir, so you have to leave with him.”
Robert gulped, swallowing down nothing. He was just curious as to why this man was the one who brought him into the hospital. He quietly followed him outside, not minding that he was shirtless.
Meanwhile, there was a woman clad in a Burberry customized piece from head to toe, from her shoes to her head scarf, and even her sunglasses were of the best type.
In the exotic, lavish sitting room, she sat there with a puzzled expression as she kept staring at her Patek Philippe wristwatch.
One would think she was admiring the watch so closely, but the truth is, she was lost in a deep sea of thoughts.
The door creaked open, and she raised her head to the man, and Robert followed him closely t slowly like she was weary of getting kidnapped or such.
When her eyes met him, she couldn't help but smile. Gracefully, she muttered. ”My boy!”
She hadn't seen him for over a decade now, despite all of her efforts.
“Where have you been?” A hot torrent of tears rolled down her cheeks as she asked Robert, who stood inches away from her.
Robert stood there dumbfoundedly.
He didn't understand what was going on; he was still carried away by the luxury he had just walked into.
There were delicate, exquisite lights and white walls adorned with live artefacts; he couldn't believe his eyes. He gulped and shook his head in disbelief. “Is this place even real?”
He looked forward to following the man who had brought him in, but his eyes met those of a woman sitting comfortably on the main couch.
Her eyes were already wet with tears, and that was why he couldn't understand why she was crying upon seeing him.
The doctor walked in and greeted the woman.
“Madam President, He is now okay but needs to take his daily dosage of medications I prescribed; I'll leave it with your butler,” he explained with a soft smile.
“Thank you, Doctor!” The woman couldn't help but smile as she wiped away her tears with her handkerchief.
“Always a pleasure, Madam Aurora!” He grinned before walking away to allow the mother and son to have their private moment.
The moment Robert heard the doctor call her Madam President, his eyes fixed on her for a moment before he quickened his steps.
“Good afternoon, ma.” He tried as much as possible to be polite, but his patience was running thin after seeing the time on the wall clock.
Three o'clock pm!
It was time for his part-time job.
Madam Aurora couldn't hold back her tears as she heard her son talk. It was such a motherly moment; she had been waiting for it all of her life. She sniffed her nose, trying to stop the tears flowing from her eyes, but it only continued. Tears of joy indeed.
She giggled slightly before saying. ”How is your health?”
“Maa, you're having an eye discharge. Don't you feel okay?” He asked, pointing his fingers at the tears, which prompted most of Madam Aurora's staff to burst out laughing.
Robert didn't understand what was happening. His eyes wandered around the place as his heart raced with different thoughts.
What was funny?” He thought to himself.
“Did you bring me here?” He couldn't help but ask. His eyes kept checking and rechecking the wall clock, aware of each passing second.
“I need to go back to my dorm and go to work before I get sacked!” His voice rose.
Madame Aurora couldn't help but smile.
It was amusing to her, but it was pissing Robert off.
“I brought you back home, son.” Madam Aurora's voice was strained with emotions.
“Welcome back home, son.” She added, opening her arms for a hug, but Robert just stood there, stunned by her act.
His eyes widened in disbelief as he muttered, “Is she a sycophant?”
“What do you mean by I'm your son?” His voice was laced with uncertainty.
The whole place went dead silent; it was like a plot twist in movies where the whole of the background music died off and just the voices were heard.
Robert felt like he was in a movie now; he just stood there with a puzzled expression.
He knitted his brows in confusion. ”What is she trying to say?” He turned to the man who brought him in.
The man with a rugged build turned to him, and his demeanour was calm.
“Young master, you're Madam Aurora's lost child at birth. You got lost just two months after you were born. She had been looking for you all through two decades, but it was impossible.”
The explanation was boring him out, and it even got worse as he kept looking at the wall clock and it kept ticking. His muscles began to tense up, and he clenched his fists, trying to do away with the pent-up tension.
He couldn't help but interject. ”So how did she find him this time?”
The man's lips curled into a knowing smirk like he knew Robert would ask the question.
“Young Master, your necklace!” He replied, and shock waves flowed past Robert's body. He slowly held on to the pendant he had on his neck.
His eyes were almost bulging out together with his bubbling Adam's apple, as he thought. ”How is that even possible? They must be kidding themselves!”
“Young master, Madam Aurora, made us track your necklace since she had half of the pendant.” Robert swiftly raised his gaze to the woman's neck, and it was indeed true.
An involuntary gasp left his lips as he watched the woman stand up with teary eyes.
He couldn't remember anything about his mother since he grew up in the orphanage, but by merely looking at her, the resemblance was as clear as daylight!
He stumbled backwards as he muttered. “Mum”
Madam Aurora didn't waste any time in pulling him into a tight embrace as he left her tears to roll down freely. She couldn't help but smile uncontrollably, radiating joy from within.
Her heart fluttered in her chest happily as she whispered into his ears.
“Welcome home, baby. No more part-time jobs, no more bullies. You'll become my heir to the Glidson Empire!”
BILLIONAIRE LIFESTYLE. Robert sat in the corridor of the colossal building, marvelling at its opulent details. The tiles were so polished that he could see his reflection in them. He didn't need anyone to tell him that his mother was incredibly wealthy. However, a nagging question lingered in his mind—how long would her fortune last? The thought consumed him as he sat on the couch, deep in contemplation. Suddenly, a knock on the room's door disrupted his thoughts. Startled, he stood up to investigate. The door creaked open, revealing three individuals who entered the room. Robert couldn't tear his eyes away from them for a moment. Were they truly maids? Dressed in exquisite attire, the three of them proceeded to set his breakfast on the table before quietly departing. Robert approached the array of food, his curiosity piqued. With each plate he opened, he discovered an extravagant, five-star billionaire's meal. The sight caused him to blush as he pulled out a chair and took a s
Meanwhile, inside the cinema, Olivia and Owen were seated in the VIP section of chairs. The air was filled with festive chatter among the students, yet nobody dared to speak too loudly as Owen had requested silence. The scent of popcorn wafted through the room, intensifying the anticipation for the upcoming movie they were about to watch. "Honey, can we change the movie?" asked Olivia, wrinkling her face as she pleaded for everyone to support her choice. "Babe, it's the official selection today. It wouldn't be fair to change it, don't you think?" Owen tried to convince her with a smug smile, but she persisted. "I don't want it. I want 'Mea Culpa!'" she stated confidently. The sound of chatter and laughter filled the air, creating an excited buzz as everyone settled into their seats and ordered their popcorn, ensuring nothing would grab their attention once the movie officially began. After a few minutes of conversation with the cinema manager and leaving a generous tip, Owen retu
CHAPTER 8. UGLY?? There were onlookers, and students began pulling out their phones to capture the moment. However, in Campbell campus, there seemed to be a prevailing hypocrisy among them. They would eagerly record the most dramatic moments solely for the sake of gaining social media attention, even if it meant capturing someone's suffering or even their last breath. Amidst the commotion, Olivia couldn't help but giggle. She felt a sense of satisfaction knowing that Robert would be expelled from the cinema. Owen, on the other hand, stumbled back in shame. He didn't fully comprehend Robert's actions, but the forceful punch had left him disoriented. He blinked rapidly, trying to regain his focus. As Owen lifted his head, gasps reverberated through the crowd. Even Olivia, who was eagerly waiting for the manager to arrive, was taken aback by the collective surprise. It appeared that there was no manager coming to address the situation. Most students immediately aimed their cameras a
CHAPTER 9. PAY FOR COMMOTION CAUSED. Olivia couldn't help but smirk, a wide grin stretching across her lips, when she saw Robert go mute in response to Ivannah's words. Ivannah wasn't someone to mess with. Not only was she the owner of the school's cinemas, but she was also known for being ruthless and cold-hearted. She never backed down on her words. Seeing how sternly she looked at Robert, Olivia and Owen felt relieved. Finally, someone else was going to deal with him! They exchanged glances and both smiled wickedly. Suddenly, Robert burst into laughter. "Pay for everything?" he repeated incredulously. "That's impossible! Why should I pay for everything when I did nothing wrong? I was the one being bullied by this ugly duckling and his gold digger," he said, pointing his hands at both Olivia and Owen. "If you're struggling financially, you should politely ask for assistance!" He sneered as he spoke. Ivannah's eyes slightly widened at his words. Did he just suggest that she was
CHAPTER 10. FAKE MONEY! Surprise struck Robert like a lightning bolt. What had Ivannah just said? Fake? That couldn't be. He blinked rapidly, trying to focus on her. He had painstakingly changed the dollars into smaller denominations, as carrying a thousand dollars as a student seemed absurd. He had converted them into two hundred-dollar bills, and now he was being accused of using fake currency. Gasps rippled through the crowd as Ivannah's men approached to inspect the money. Each man who touched it turned back and threw Robert a menacing glare that said, "You try to deceive us, and you're dead meat!" It took Ivannah some time to verify that all the money was indeed counterfeit. She raised her eyebrows at Robert, glaring at him with anger. "You dare to deceive me?" she sneered, handing the stack of fake money back to her accountant. "I'm sorry, ma'am," the lady pleaded, but Ivannah wasn't listening. "Place the money on my desk and pack up your things. You're fired, sweetheart
CHAPTER 11. CARD OUT OF USE. Olivia burst into loud laughter. "You all must think that just because you scammed people with some nice-looking fake Louis Vuitton clothes, you believe he's a rich boy?" she mocked. "He's a poor church mouse who can't even afford a $45 meal. I was stunned when he agreed to pay," she added with a sneer. "He can't even afford two square meals, let alone three! Wait a second, did I just say three?" She scanned the crowd of students, who were all staring at her. "And you think he's capable of paying $14,000? Biggest joke of the century!" Owen chimed in. Upon hearing this, Ivannah didn't appear shocked. She had heard about Robert before, but the crying woman was truly taken aback. She had assumed Robert was rich, perhaps due to his more attractive appearance compared to the ugly Owen. No one could blame her for making such assumptions. Robert, angered by Olivia's remark, snapped back, "This has nothing to do with you! Stay the hell out of this!" Olivia's
CHAPTER 12 DUMBFOUNDED! Ivannah's gaze was fixed on Robert as the final lap of ring ended, but there was no response from him. Her eyes were filled with anger as she clenched her fists. "Hmmm, you must think this is a playground, Robert." Olivia couldn't help but smile, her chest swelling with pride as she watched Robert, stunned and speechless. "Hey, boy, pay up already! You must think we're all qualified for the VIP section," Owen chimed in mockingly. Robert stood there, unsure of what to do next, gritting his teeth. He vowed to take revenge on the person who had given him counterfeit currency. He would have to wait until he was out of this mess. That money could have solved everything if only he hadn't been deceived with fakes. Asking for another favor, like calling his number, would be too childish. The first favor had been a narrow escape. Ivannah's lips formed a wicked grin. "Look here, Rob," she said, walking closer to him. "How about you come, follow me home?" "Ding
Ivana's brows knitted as she couldn't help but burst out laughing. Did Robert really think that because he paid almost $14,000, he was now a billionaire? The cinema was worth ten times that amount. "You must be delusional to think you can buy my investment," she said, amusement clear in her voice. "Find something else to do, maybe go watch some movies to clear those delusions." Murmurs filled the background, and the students began speaking positively about Robert. They didn't know where he got his money from, but since he was able to pay such a large sum, they now saw him as someone worthy of praise. Owen could hear the comments praising Robert for paying the fourteen thousand dollars for the entire cinema, which only fueled his anger more. Why were they praising Robert? It was just the most basic thing anyone could have done, he thought through gritted teeth. Meanwhile, Robert walked closer to Ivan with a proud smirk on his lips and asked, "Are you still open for business, miss?"
