CHAPTER FOUR

Retrieving the Atm card from Albert, Owen made his way towards the ongoing comofion before it's gets more worse that it already was. The customer were begining to harrass Mia and almost dragging her to their room to pay for the expenses on their beds, so Owen knew he needed to act fast.

"Excuse me!" Owen voiced, catching the attention of everyone in the restaurant and they all turned their heads towards Owen's diection.

"Who the fuck this this?" The bulky customer known as Bill spoke after catching a glimpse of the man that just spoke. He had thought the words were said by the Hotel manager, but after catching a glimpse of Owen, his face became sour and anger surged through him that a trash like Owen dared interfare.

"May i ask what's going on here?" Owen questioned, ignoring the signals Mia tried tried to give him to back down.

"Who let a low-life like this into this restaurant? And he also dared to speak whete he wasn't called!" Bill retorted, gazing at Owen in anger.

"Well, to answer your first question, i work here. And for the second, i am only asking what the situation is." Owen responded in a calm tone, and his facial expression remained calm.

He was clearly not affected by Bill's hateful words.

"Get lost, trash. You said you work here, eh? By the looks of things you are either a cleaner or waiter. So why don't you get lost and go clean the toilets." Bill snorted with a sneer.

Owen chose to ignore him and turned his head to face Mia who had her mouth widened in awe after witnessing Owen's display of confidence.

She has never seen Owen remained relaxed and calm when he is getting ridiculed by people. But for some reason he seems to not be affected by Bill's words, which made her shocked.

"Tell me what happened, Mia." Owen beckoned on Mia in a calm and relaxing tone.

"I-i tripped and accidentally spilled their orders all over the floor. I-i don't have any money to pay for the expenses and the rules of the Hotel states whatever happens is our responsibility." Mia explained in a shaky voice and her head facing the floor.

"Go get the Atm machine." Owen ordered, causing a puzzled expression to appear on every single person's face.

Bill broke out in laughter after hearing the words of Owen, and everyone also joined him in laughter.

"You, a trash like you, pay the bills?" Bill glanced at Owen from head to toe in disgust. "I doubt if you even have a single dollar note in your pocket." He added.

Owen's expression never changed, and he still wasn't bothered by Bill's words.

"You are right, i don't have a single dollar in my pocket." Owen dipped his hand into his pocket and brought it out empyhanded, ans everyone chimed in with mocking laughter once more.

"You don't have a dollar and yet you want to clear a bill that worths hundreds of dollars?" Bill shook his head in disappointment.

"Yeah, you got a problem with that?" Owen questioned.

"I just don't have spare time to watch you try a card that obviously have zero dollar in it." Bill snorted. "But, i can give you a chance to try your card, and if you fail to credit the hotel's account with the exact amount she owes you will eat this food on the floor with your bare hands."

Mia's eyes widened in shock after hearing Bill's proposal, and she swiftly turned her head to face Owen to make him not push further. But Owen wasn't sparing her a glance, and he looked like someone who isn't ready to back down.

"I have no problem with that." Owen remarked. "To make things a little fun here, if i succeed in crediting the account, not only will you eat the food but also lick the floor."

Owen had no reason to back down from this. He already had 100 billion dollars in his card so there was absolutelt nothing to be afraid of.

'What's with this guy?' Bill pondered internally from where he stood. He could see the confidence in Owen's eyes and something was telling him Owen wasn't bluffing.

'What am i even thinking? This guy is a worthless trash, he can't possibly afford the bill.'

Bill finally regained composure and his once mocking smirk returned back to his lips.

"Deal." He declared, and both his friends and the rest of the spectator began to cheer and anticipate Owen eating from the floor after he fails to succeed

"Get the machine." Owen shifted her gaze once more to Mia and spoke. Mia glanced at his face and knew it would only be a waste of time if she tries to talk him out of it, so she went to get the portable machine.

"Here it is." Mia returned with the machine instantly.

"Hurry up tras..."

Bill paused in his words as he caught a glimpse of the shiny golden card Owen pulled out from his pocket.

'That card...' Bill gulped and cold sweat trickled down his face. 'Just who is this guy?'

Owen swipped the card, input his pin, and the transaction was successful within a blink of an eye.

Every single jaws in the restaurant dropped to the floor after witnessing the shocking feat that just played out infront of them. A poor-looking trash like Owen forking out hundreds of dollars without breaking a sweat.

"The transaction was successful." The female cashier walked up to them and informed. Right where Bill stood, his heart was racing and cold sweat trickling down his face.

He recklessly agreed to Owen's demand cause he deemed Owen a trash and assumed he was only bluffing to save his friend. But for some reason he was able to afford it, and the way he forked it out it was evident he had way more than that in his account.

"Alright, champ, get eating." Owen smirked.

Some were busy discussing about their plans for a better future, while others were lamenting about their past losses. The meeting room was filled to the brim as the people there all had their eyes out for just one thing. Bagging a contract with the Echelon industries. Echelon industries was one of the biggest group of companies in the country and any contract with them would surely be a blast. Different elite families were present, Maria Steele was also present and along with her came Kate. Maria had always been someone to show off so on a special occasion like today, (Kate had told her of her relationship with Chris, so she was sure they would be able to bag a contract easily) she dressed as if she was going for a fashion show. They were still indulging in their discussions when Chris came into the room and the whole place went silent in a minute. He was putting on a navy blu

“Now, where we’re we?” Owen asked and smiled. Maria’s heart began to beat faster at the sinister smile Owen had on. “Ladies and gentlemen, I have gone through all the proposals and just like my colleague had said earlier, they were all good but I couldn’t take all so I have chosen the two best among them.” He paused a little and stared at the crowd before commencing.“After much deliberation, I have come to the conclusion that the two most worthy contracts are the ones from the Steeles and Mrs Tamara here” He paused for a while as the whole crowd grumbled about his decision. Many felt he had selected them because they were his relatives. Because it was no coincidence that he had chosen his former family’s business and his wife’s family business. Maria was happy beyond comprehension. The joy she felt in her heart at that moment was the most she had felt in her entire lifetime. She had always known that Owen was a fool but she didn’t know that it was up to this extent. But

Owen signed on the paper and with the help of his attorney, the stamp was placed on the signatures and the deal was sealed. When they were through with the signing and stamping process, Maria suggested that they had a drink to celebrate the future of their companies. Owen used the intercom to request for a bottle of Chardonnay and in no time, the wine was delivered to the room. Mario shifted on the bed and she understood he was trying to sit up. She sat up and he did too. They sat facing each other and he gave her a look that said ‘I told you so’ . “Don't give me that look” Kate said as she bent her face. She was already having a bad day without getting out of bed.
