CHAPTER FIVE

Jason was sitting in the lavish suite at Di Maria Hotels when his mind began to race with a flurry of ideas and feelings.

The news that he had inherited his father's enormous riches and the job of CEO at Montgomery Enterprise stunned him. He had just learned of the passing of his father, a man he had never met.

About his half-brother Steve, he couldn't help but wonder. What had caused him to leave the family company and nearly wreck it? Jason was troubled by the knowledge that Steve had left a gap that needed to be addressed.

"But Steve, what about him?" With anxiety in his voice, Jason enquired.

"He's the legitimate son. Shouldn't he have a claim to the company and our father's wealth?" he continued.

Otis, the elegant and enigmatic man who had delivered this life-altering news, leaned back in his chair, a knowing smile playing on his lips. "Steve left the company of his own accord," Otis explained.

"He abandoned his responsibilities and nearly drove Montgomery Enterprise to bankruptcy. Your father, Mr. Montgomery, had to make a difficult decision. He recognized your potential, your dedication, and your commitment to the family legacy. That's why he called for you before he died."

Jason was exhilarated and intimidated by the magnitude of his new responsibilities, which he could not deny.

It was a fantastic opportunity, but running a famous and well-known business like Montgomery Enterprise also came with enormous expectations and responsibilities.

Jason thought for a second before making a choice. "I accept," he firmly said. "I'll assume the position of CEO."

Warmly grinning, Otis offered his hand to clinch the bargain. He said, "Mr. Dilaurentis, welcome to the firm."

Jason couldn't help but be filled with pride and resolve. He was determined to prove himself, not just to his newfound colleagues but also to his own family, having been forced into a world of money and power he had never imagined.

Jason was completely taken aback by what he saw as he and Otis exited the luxury surroundings of the Di Maria Hotels. A sleek, black limousine, a symbol of wealth and extravagance, was waiting for them at the curb. Sunlight glistened off the limo's bodywork, which reflected the glittering metropolis.

Jason was unable to contain his shock at the scene in front of him. He had never been in such a magnificent vehicle, and just the sight of the limousine made him feel as though he had crossed into another world.

Jason took a minute to admire the magnificence of the car as the chauffeur opened the door for them. The limousine's inside was a work of art in terms of comfort and style.

He was cocooned in luxury by the gentle, ambient lighting and the plush leather chairs, which also gave off an aura of elegance.

The limousine was designed with grace and refinement evident in every aspect. The interior was decorated with polished wood accents, and a mini-bar was equipped with a variety of alcoholic beverages.

A calm environment was created by the aroma of fresh leather filling the air and the scarcely audible hum of the motor.

Jason couldn't help but be awestruck as he sat in one of the plush leather chairs. He had transitioned from a waiter who had to put up with the brutality of the Hastings family to a CEO of Montgomery Enterprise who was driven there in a limo.

It was a dramatic contrast that demonstrated how drastically his life had changed in such a short period of time.

Jason watched the world go by as the vehicle sailed through the busy downtown streets. The windows were tinted. He was in awe with the city's skyscrapers, magnificent architecture, and thriving culture.

He couldn't help but feel liberated because it was so different from the restrictions of the Hastings home.

The reality of his new role as CEO became more and more apparent with each passing second. Jason was aware that his path would be difficult, but he was determined to succeed and establish himself in this new world of riches, power, and influence.

Jason was once more astounded by the absolute grandeur that he was in the midst of as the limousine approached the entrance of Montgomery Enterprise. The corporate headquarters stood as a symbol of the company's prosperity, riches, and power.

The structure itself was a colossal masterwork of contemporary design. Glass panels that captured the sun and reflected it in a brilliant show were used to embellish the building's facade. Grand double doors made of luxurious mahogany wood that served as a sign of distinction and refinement were used to mark the entry.

The grounds were professionally maintained, with sparkling fountains and lush gardens. In the midst of the busy downtown, well-kept lawns spread out in every direction, bringing peace. The paths were lined with tall, towering palm palms, their fronds rustling.

Otis glanced to Jason and smiled briefly but comfortingly as he exited the vehicle."There's something I need to take care of right now, but I'll be right back. Simply wait in the lobby, and we'll get back to talking soon."

Jason nodded, experiencing a sense of both interest and eagerness. He watched as Otis sauntered out, his graceful stride a sharp contrast to the grandeur all around.

Jason was alone himself in the foyer and couldn't help but notice the splendour all around him. The crystal chandeliers above and the gleaming marble flooring below shed a gentle, golden glow throughout the room.

The reception hall included elegant furnishings and well exhibited art, giving off an appearance of elegance.

A well-dressed woman's approached him, however, cut short his time of introspection. She walked up to him with an attitude of contempt, her eyes judging him harshly.

The woman spoke to Jason with a snobbish tone and condescending comments. "Excuse me, but our firm does not allow people of your look to stroll into our offices," she remarked.

Jason was shocked at first, but his disbelief rapidly turned to rage. "And who are you to judge how I seem or who enters this place," he firmly said as his brow wrinkled. "I have a good purpose for being here."

The woman's laughter was like a sharp, mocking note in the elegant lobby. "Legitimate reason or not," she retorted, "we have standards here, and you clearly don't meet them."

As the argument between Jason and the woman escalated, Otis suddenly reappeared, his composed demeanor a stark contrast to the tension in the air. He approached the scene, his presence commanding attention.

"What is going on here?" Otis inquired, his voice calm but authoritative. He looked from Jason to the woman, waiting for an explanation.

Jason wasted no time in recounting how the woman had rudely confronted him, casting judgment solely based on his appearance. He was visibly agitated, his frustration evident.

Otis spoke to the woman in the opulent foyer, his voice tinted with power. He remarked in a severe voice, "Do you realise you just spoke to the CEO of this company in such a manner?" "Your conduct is unacceptable, and you have jeopardised your position."

The woman's eyes widened in realisation as she started to apologise in a stutter. She continued, her voice quivering, "I... I didn't know, I'm so sorry."

Jason, on the other hand, was hesitant to accept her apology. His annoyance was evident as he nodded dismissively and abruptly to her. Learn to respect other people, he advised. "Don't base your opinion of them on how they look."

With that, he turned away from the woman, following Otis as they made their way to the elevator. The woman watched them go, chastened by the encounter.

As the elevator doors opened on the top floor, Jason and Otis stepped out into a well-appointed corridor adorned with tasteful artwork and lush greenery.

The hushed ambiance of the executive floor contrasted with the bustling activity on the lower levels.

Jason's attention was quickly drawn to a poised and confident black woman who approached them.

She extended a hand toward Jason, offering a warm smile. "You must be Jason Dilaurentis," she said, her tone welcoming. "I'm Annalise, the company's manager. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Jason shook Annalise's hand, feeling a sense of friendship in her friendly demeanor. "Likewise, Annalise," he replied. "I'm looking forward to working with you."

Annalise nodded approvingly. "Thank goodness you're here," she remarked. "We have an important meeting in the boardroom, and your presence is greatly needed."

With Annalise and Otis leading the way, Jason entered the boardroom, an expansive and elegantly furnished space with a round table at its center.

The room was filled with other executives, each dressed in impeccable business attire. They rose from their seats as Jason entered, offering warm greetings and welcoming smiles.

Annalise handed a document to Jason as he sat down. Jason's eyes flashed in recognition as he examined the document.

It was a proposal to buy the majority shares of Steele Enterprises, the firm run by William Steele, the guy who had snatched Alison from him.

He felt a burst of willpower, and the corners of his mouth twisted into a sly smirk.

He was aware that this possibility may prove to be a turning point, a chance to level the playing field and exact retaliation on the person who had degraded him.

Jason felt gratified at the notion of outwitting William and gaining control of his business.

He turned to face Annalise and the other businesspeople assembled in the space with calculated confidence. "Pass me a pen, please," he asked, holding out his hand.

The executives looked at each other in astonishment as the room briefly became silent as Jason made a decision. The ever-calm Annalise asked Jason one final time, "Are you sure the firm will benefit greatly from this action?"

Jason's eyes continued to shine with resolve as his smile persisted. "I'm very certain," he said.

As the pen touched the paper, Jason's signature sealed the deal. "Steele won't know what hit him."
