CHAPTER SEVEN

Jason made one final adjustment to his suit jacket, admiring how well-prepared he looked in the mirror for an evening of business and retribution.

As the CEO of Montgomery Enterprise, he was set to announce his newfound authority at the dinner he was holding at a posh event space and see how William and Alison would react.

His maid entered the room just as he was ready to leave with a bewildered look on her face. Before speaking, she nervously cleared her throat. "There is a lady come to see you, sir."

Jason arched his eyebrow in a curious manner.

Anyone coming to see him was uncommon, especially considering how he had no family and friends.

He made the decision to go down the Montgomery mansion's grand staircase to see who it was since he was interested by the unexpected guest.

His eyes landed on the guest as he got downstairs and a wave of astonishment and outrage swept over him.

The same woman who publicly humiliated him at the workplace and made fun of him for his appearance was there in the magnificent lobby. She appeared poised and confident, and she was dressed elegantly in a form-fitting gown.

"Good evening, sir," Lisa said with a courteous nod as Jason walked down the sweeping staircase. Jason nodded in her direction, his eyes displaying his interest.

"Lisa, was it?" Jason asked, his voice tinted with intrigue.

Lisa responded, her look a mixture of hesitation and earnestness. "Yes, sir," she said. "I wanted to express my regret for how I handled you at the workplace yesterday once again, sir."

Jason's face softened, and he said, "You've already apologised, but I appreciate your sincerity."

With her apologies now fully accepted, Lisa's eyes became brighter and she softly grinned. Her timidity was visible as she shifted her weight from one foot to the other.

Jason sought to defuse the tension when he became aware of it. He was honest when he said, "Your dress looks lovely," and his own smile became wider.

Lisa thanked him, her shyness showing through as her cheeks slightly reddened. "I usually like to dress up for office events," she said.

Jason said, expressing his pleasure with her decision, "I'm glad you're coming. Are you interested in a ride to the dinner?"

Before politely rejecting, Lisa pondered for a moment. "I'm grateful, however my colleagues and I have leased a bus to get us to the location."

Jason nodded in agreement with her choice. "Okay, well then."  He led her to the front door and said, "I'll see you at the dinner."

The tension between them dissolved when Lisa gave him a goodbye grin and said, "Thank you, sir. Later, I'll see you.

When she finally left the estate, Jason couldn't help but think about the impending dinner, when he would announce his newfound power and possibly begin to formulate a strategy for exacting revenge on those who had mistreated him.

Jason was thinking about the significance of the evening as he snuggled into the limo's plush seat. He couldn't help but feel a sense of eagerness and resolve.

This dinner was more than simply a regular occasion; it was an opportunity for him to reveal his newfound power to Wiliam and Alison and all those who had ridiculed him in the past .

He was enveloped in luxurious comfort inside the limo thanks tothe velvety leather seats and the subdued lights. He felt a sense of pleasure and success as he ran his palm over the soft upholstery.

His new driver John gave him a formal salutation and a peek in the rearview mirror before saying, "Good evening, sir."

Jason nodded in response, acknowledging the professionalism of the welcome.

"Are you prepared to leave, sir?" John asked, keeping a close watch on himself in the mirror.

Taking a deep breath, Jason firmly said, "Yes, let's go."

With that, the limo sped away from the estate, transporting Jason away from the mansion and onto a night that contained the possibility of transformation and retaliation.

Jason's mind started to return to the upsetting memories he had buried deep within of him as the limo sailed through the city streets on the way to the dinner.

His memories of his time spent with the Hastings family, when he had been humiliated and mistreated, came roaring back.

His mother-in-law Julia once accused him of stealing her priceless jewellery, and that incident stands out as a particularly traumatic memory. She strongly thought he was the thief, thus he had been imprisoned and shut up behind bars of the state prison.

He still remembered the feeling of unfairness and betrayal he had experienced at the moment.

The truth had ultimately come out, but it had taken days.

Alison's brother Eric was the true offender. He had stolen the jewellery in order to repay a debt by selling it.

Even though he was innocent, no one in the Hastings family, not even Alison, had shown regret for the false charge and the suffering he had gone through.

As Jason thought back on the unfair agony he had experienced under their house, his fists unconsciously tightened.

His drive to exert his newfound status and make those who had hurt him pay for their callousness was further strengthened by the recollections.

The limo finally arrived and Jason got out of the opulent car and stood in front of the venue's big entryway, anger burning in his eyes.

He mentally prepared himself for the evening ahead, when he would meet the Hastings family which he sent invitations to, the very ones who had formerly treated him cruelly and with contempt. He drew a long, bolstering breath.

"I won't rest until the Hastings are on their knees, begging me for my forgiveness, for all the pain they caused me in the past. Until then, I'll ensure their life is a living hell."

Jason walked ahead with those words ringing in his head, prepared to face his past and start the path of vengeance he had long been planning.
