Ethan woke up with a strange sense of incongruity. He was very tired the previous day and had slept like a baby.
He took a look around the beautiful room he found himself in and it felt alien to him until the events of the previous day came pouring into his remembrance: it was as though life had treated him to a rollercoaster of conflicting highs and lows.
Ethan had a strange feeling that something bad was about to happen to him again. And just as he had that thought, Andrew knocked on his door politely.
"You can come in." Ethan answered.
"Good morning, young master." Andrew greeted.
"Good morning Mr Andrew." Ethan still found it strange that he had a new butler. Then he looked at Andrew's face and saw that Andrew looked a bit sad and was fidgeting in a kind of way.
"What's the matter?" Ethan asked curiously.
"It's about your sister Sylvie..." Andrew reported.
"What happened to her? Did she fall sick?" Ethan asked worriedly.
"She was on her way to school with Mark this morning and they got attacked by some thugs..."
Ethan's face scrunched up just hearing about thugs. "Attacked?!"
"Yes, young master. Mark was beaten and Sylvie-" Andrew hesitated.
"What happened to Sylvie?" Ethan's face turned pale this time. He loved his sister dearly even though they weren't related by blood.
"She was abducted by the thugs and we've found no trace of where they took her to yet." Andrew said with an apologetic expression.
At that moment, Ethan could only come to one conclusion - Matthew was responsible for this. Just because he didn't give Matthew money like he had demanded and the fact that Andrew had beaten he and his thugs up. This was probably his way of vengeance against Ethan.
"That bastard!" Ethan gritted his teeth in anger. He was also scared. He didn't know what Matthew would do to his sister for the sake of revenge.
"Do you think Matthew is responsible for this?" Andrew asked. He knew about Matthew. He had been keeping tabs on Ethan for a long time so he knew about most of the people he interacted with. He was also aware that the kidnapping could be as a result of him beating Matthew and his henchmen to a pulp.
"He has to be." Ethan answered with a deep frown and worry on his face.
"I'll look for him and get her back." Andrew promised as he turned around to leave.
"I'm coming with you." Ethan declared.
"Alright, young master."
In less than five minutes, Ethan and Andrew made their way to the place Ethan knew Matthew to live and run his shady businesses.

Matthew was having a hard time with his breakfast. He couldn't chew properly and even when he eventually ate, his stomach hurt like hell. This was as a result of the furious punches he had received from Andrew the previous day.
He angrily swatted the food to the ground in frustration. He took a can of orange juice and sipped on it with a straw. He had to make do with what he could easily swallow.
He was cursing at Ethan for his suffering when he heard the door open with a thud. He looked up and saw one of his henchmen who also had some injuries walk in with panic.
"He's here!" The guy said with a voice tinged with fear.
"Who?" Matthew asked with slight apprehension.
"That brat Ethan and that damned old man!" The guy replied with fear.
Matthew jumped off his seat. "Dammit, why wouldn't he leave us alone?" Matthew felt cheated despite his plan to take revenge on Ethan.
"Are they planning to beat me up again? I haven't even done anything against him yet!" He yelled as he began to think of ways to run away.
Just as he was eyeing the secret exit at the wall behind him, Ethan and Andrew burst in.
"Where is she?" Ethan demanded with a look of rage on his face.
"Who?" Matthew was stunned. It wasn't what he had expected to hear.
"Sylvie - where did you keep her?" Andrew asked with a cold gaze as he took menacing strides towards Matthew.
"I don't know what you're taking about. I don't have your sister!" Matthew yelled out in fear, he could still feel his stomach and face tingle with pain.
Andrew delivered a fresh punch to Matthew's stomach again. Matthew doubled over on the floor in pain.
"You abducted my sister this morning. Where is she?!" Ethan demanded again.
Matthew couldn't even cry properly. "I swear I had nothing to do with it. I've not even laid my eyes in her for a very long time." He confessed amidst tears.
"Then who did?" Ethan asked in anger.
Andrew turned on the other guy in the room and beat him up for answers only to hear the same confession. They hadn't so much as even moved from the house to go anywhere for anything.
The beating that Andrew kept delivering to Matthew's boys yielded no results.
Ethan was beginning to get confused and more alarmed. If Matthew kept pleading innocent, then who could have done it?
Andrew and Ethan searched the whole building for signs of Sylvie but they found nothing. Matthew was likely saying the truth.
Ethan was now almost convinced. He hadn't offended anyone and yet his sister was abducted. It didn't make sense to him any longer.
If the Habsburgs were behind it then they would have come for him themselves without needing to resort to petty things.
Andrew was also at a loss. The only person that they could suspect was Matthew and yet there wasn't definite proof. Andrew and Ethan left Matthew's office and drove back to the mansion.
Meanwhile Matthew felt like crap after Ethan had left. He couldn't even believe that it was the same Ethan that he had been bullying all the while. What suddenly changed about him?
The beating that he had received in just two days was enough to make him delete any future plans for revenge. At least not in the state he currently was.
Ethan received a call the moment he stepped back into the mansion. He took a look at his phone and discovered that it was an unknown and hidden caller. With a suspicious feeling that it wasn't good news, he picked up the call. "Ethan Stone, we have your sister." A nasty voice said before Ethan could even greet. "Who the hell are you?" Ethan forgot all pleasantries and asked the question that bit him in the chest the most with rage. "Who I am is not what is important." The voice replied, causing Ethan to furrow his brows. It seemed the person or people in question wanted to keep their identity a secret. "Then what is so important that you had to kidnap my sister?" Ethan asked once again while signalling to Andrew to do something. Andrew got the signal from Ethan and fervently began to do something. Ethan hoped he would be able to track the call and that was what he was trying to do as he took a laptop and started tracing the call. All Ethan has to do was stay on the call for one m
"Shit!" Andrew also cursed. It was as if the man had known that he would be tracked and he had ended the call at 59 seconds. Just a second more and Andrew would have gotten his location. Meanwhile Ethan was dumbfounded. Why did he have to do it almost naked? He realised that Sophia was meaning to drag him down to the dust and rub his face in it. "What did he say?" Andrew asked. He had been focused on tracking that he wasn't able to pay attention. So Ethan explained it to him."You can't do that, young master." Andrew vehemently declined. "Why not?" Ethan asked. "You are Ethan Astor. You must not be humiliated in such a way. Just give the order and I will make sure that your sister is found and delivered to you by the end of the day." Andrew said. He wasn't going to allow someone as prestigious as Ethan to do such a thing. Even though he had failed with tracking down Sylvie, there was still avast amount of resources that was at his disposal to get the job done safely. Ethan didn't
After watching the video over and over again as a form of entertainment. Sophia got bored of seeing Ethan's face. At some point, she noticed that the expression on his face wasn't really genuine... Or at least that's what it felt like to her. There was still some defiance she could notice in his golden eyes. Waving it off as some form of misconception, Sophia took her phone and finally called her father, Oliver Walton. "My beautiful flower..." Oliver said the moment he picked up the call. He hadn't even wasted any time in picking up her call. "That was the best breakup present ever, dad. Thank you!" Sophia said to her father. "I'm glad you like it." Oliver nodded and grinned with pride. He felt filled him with fulfillment that he had been able to please his daughter and make her happy. "I don't like it. I love it! I could watch it hundreds of times without getting bored. It feels good to see that bastard grovel and beg me. I just wish he could do it in my presence." Sophia said
"Big brother Ethan. Where's my sister?" Mark asked with a tearful tone as he spoke to Ethan over the phone. It was already the third day and he was still yet to see his younger sister being returned to him safe and sound. He had been trying to act strong until he couldn't take it any longer and called Ethan out of frustration. "Don't worry Mark. I promise you to get Sylvie back to you today." Ethan replied with a heavy heart. He felt guilty for what was happening to Sylvie and was sorry for the pain that she might be going through and also the anguish that Mark had been forced to endure. Only Mark's sobs were heard in response to Ethan's words."I'll do everything in my power to get her back to you today. Just wait for me and I will bring her." Ethan promised to reassure him. "After they made you beg they still didn't release Sylvie. It's not fair!" Mark grumbled with more sobs. Naturally, he had seen the video of Ethan apologizing to Sophie and he felt a huge guilt weigh on his c
"Tell me what happened." Oliver demanded. He was speaking to the thug that he had hired to kidnap Sylvie over the phone. "We dropped the girl at the park and called Ethan to pick her up.He came and carried her away without even a car to pick her up!" The thug said with a sneer. "Hmm, he has probably taken her back to the orphanage." Oliver mumbled. Then he ended the call. Seeing as Ethan had retrieved his younger sister safely, Mr Oliver Walton was already thinking of something else that he could do to appease his daughter and make her cozy up to him. Naturally, his target was Ethan. He picked up his phone and dialed her number. "What is it, Dad?" Sophia asked with a tone of annoyance. Oliver felt his expectations crumble. Where was the daughter that was telling him that she loved him just a few days ago?"My beautiful flower, that's no way to address your loving father..." Oliver grumbled. "I don't have time for this dad." Sophia cut him short. "Philip is sick." "Really? What
Oliver pulled all the strings of the connections that he had. He had promised his beautiful daughter Sophia that he was going to fulfil her request. He wasn't going to fail. After all, was there not a benefit to it?But Oliver soon discovered that it was easier said than done. Despite calling in favors and using every connection he had, he was unable to get Tommy released from the airport detention center. The security were giving him an unusually hard time and refused to let him go without a thorough investigation. There seemed to be something fishy. Some hours later when Oliver wasn't able to turn up with a good result, Sophia called him again. "Hold on darling. There seems to be some problem." Oliver said to his daughter. He was already getting furious but he wasn't going to be furious with his daughter. Definitely not. "What's taking so long?" she grumbled over the phone. "Just get him out of there!""It's not that simple," Oliver replied in frustration. "They're being very
Oliver sat staring blankly ahead, his phone slipping from his limp fingers. The past few days had utterly drained him, leaving the once imposing man a hollow shell. Between the constant calls from his increasingly impatient daughter and the lawyers who could offer no solutions, Oliver felt like he was losing his mind. How had everything gone so wrong so quickly? None of it made sense to Oliver. In just one week his family's reputation had begun crumbling in the face of the public. First the drug charges against his son Tommy and now he had also failed to break him out of jail. Oliver suspected that someone was behind everything that was happening. It could have been the same person who planted drugs in Tommy's luggage to implicate him. Oliver reached his current status in the city by his hard work and dedication. He had also invested no little effort in making sure that he had a good grasp of things going on in the city, yet he wasn't able to do anything in face of such a situatio
Sophia and her mother made their way to the court. Sophia couldn't hide the anger that was simmering deep within her. She honestly hated the fact that Ethan was beginning to live a comfortable life. She knew that by this point he hated her already and if he one day became more successful, he might come back to take his revenge on her for what she had done to him. She wasn't bothered by his retaliation though, after all, her family could be considered invincible in the city of Geneva. No matter how powerful became, he would still be too weak and irrelevant to do anything to her family. "We're here..." The driver said and Sophia snapped out of her thoughts. She and her mother stepped out and entered the courtroom. There, she saw her father already waiting. Oliver had a bit of eye bags under his eyes but he still looked composed. He kept up a proper appearance and kept a confident stature. His son had been pushed around and the person trying to implicate him had given Oliver enough
