Johnny looked Zoey straight in the eye and asked, "What on earth did you tell her?"

"I was just letting her know you're good and that we're going to clear things up before the family gathering is over," she said with an innocent look on her face.

He didn't believe it for a second, and he narrowed his eyes. Zoey and the mother had snuck away to talk in private for a few minutes before returning. The mother had gone through a complete one eighty and allowed Hannah to act as his witness. Obviously, something more had happened while they had been separated, but he didn't know what.

After a moment's hesitation, he decided to drop it. He didn't want to push his luck now. If he said anything wrong, the mother might change her mind. Of course, that didn't mean he was going to drop it. He was definitely going to corner Zoey after this was all over to discuss exactly what she did to bring Hannah's mother to his side.

"You know, I never did ask what your power was," he said, changing the topic.

Johnny couldn't believe his luck. He needed to inform Zoey right away so she could meet back up with him, but he was shocked to see them not bat an eye in his direction. They were already walking around him, intending to go on their merry way. Wouldn't the other party get angry and demand an apology in this situation? Neither of them had even batted an eye.Snapping out of his daze, he called after them. "Wait."The duo proceeded to give him a look that basically screamed what did he want. They were clearly not in the mood to talk with him at all. Johnny was a bit intimidated. He felt as if one wrong move could get him killed, but he quickly shook those thoughts away. There was no way they would kill him for saying something wrong. It wasn't because he thought they didn't have the heart to kill someone. He was pretty sure they had blood on their hands, even though he had no evidence of it. No, he didn't think they would have a problem dealing with him if they decided they wanted to ge

As everyone gathered around in the hall, several people were deep in conversations with one another. Standing in front of everyone on the stage were Madison and Gabriel, who were anxiously wondering where their son could have gone. They hadn't heard from him since the nasty incident from before. The thought that their son could be bullied crossed their minds. The couple was immediately overcome with bloodlust. They wished they could have done something more, but they couldn't raise a hand since the grandfather had gotten involved. If their son didn't want to make him an enemy, he had to go along and complete the grandfather's request. Madison nibbled on her nail as she contemplated what other problems her son might face.Flames leaked out of her body, causing those nearby to eye her warily. Gabriel was the first to snap out of it and place a calming hand on her shoulder. Realizing what she was doing, she reluctantly reigned in her bloodlust and got her flames under control. This wasn'

However, the only way Johnny could think of resolving the issue was to use what he had seen so far. Taking a deep breath, he erupted into flames. His action was so sudden that everyone immediately fell silent. Those near him actually took a step back to avoid being hit by the sudden burst of flames. Several gave him calculating looks, while others looked impressed. Now that he had everyone's attention, he stopped releasing his flames and said, "Now that I have everyone's attention, I want to say that Isaiah will be in charge of the investigation. He will ensure that every single person involved will be caught." "Every single person?" someone muttered. Another person said, "Doesn't it sound like Charles isn't the only one?" As the whispers got louder, Isaiah stepped forward, and Johnny stepped back. "I'm afraid that I can't say anything more about the ongoing investigation." "Then why did you bring it up now?" a person asked. "That's right. If you wanted to keep the investigation

The next couple of days were quite peaceful for Johnny. Despite how chaotic the first day was, he was left alone by the family. Of course, he spent time with his parents. They had many years to catch up on, but the rest of the family just sort of ignored his existence. He wasn't sure if it was a good or bad thing. On one hand, he was grateful that he didn't have to interact with them at all.Johnny still hadn't gotten any clues about who was trying to get rid of him, and it made him more comfortable to avoid all of them altogether. Also, he didn't get caught up in family drama, which was a plus. On the other hand, he wasn't involved in the family drama. Since no one was talking to him, he could only rely on his parents and servants for gossip about the other family members. He sighed as he flipped through the channels of the expensive TV that he previously wouldn't be able to get several feet of. There was nothing interesting for him to watch. It was just boring news. He was about rea

Johnny grimaced as he tried to put on his tie. He had never worn a tie before. None of his previous jobs required him to wear a suit, and it wasn't like he could afford one anyway. During the family gathering, he had gotten away with it by not wearing a tie at all. Unfortunately, his parents insisted that he had to wear a tie so he could be presentable in front of the press."Why is it so hard to wear a tie?" he muttered to himself. As he fought with the tie, his father walked up from behind and asked, "Are you ready, son?"Turning to face his father, Johnny saw his father raise an eyebrow. "Do you need help?""Yes," he said, embarrassed that he had to ask for help from his father. His father took the tie in hand and proceeded to tie it while telling him the proper way to do things. Johnny tried to listen to the instructions, but he was distracted by the way his father looked as he fixed Johnny's tie. Thoughts about everything filled his mind. As his father finally finished making Joh

Johnny and his parents weren't overly concerned when they heard the question. Even though none of them had wanted it to show up during the press conference, the chances of it happening were too high to ignore. Obviously, the person who leaked the information would also share that Johnny had just received his power. It was too juicy to leave out. They had considered two ways to handle it. One was to lie and pretend that wasn't true. Obviously, that was out of the question. It had only been brought up so they would be on the same page. There were too many things wrong with the idea for it to work. They would just end up digging a bigger hole for themselves. That's why they settled for the second idea."That's correct," Johnny said.He barely finished speaking when the reporters erupted. This time, Johnny used his power to quieten everyone down. There was no way he was going to let his father do it a second time. It was bad enough that his father did it once. He couldn't afford another h

It in fact did not end there. It took almost an hour later before Johnny could finally escape the vultures. The only reason why it didn't take longer or shorter was because he was trying to avoid making things worse. His parents getting more involved might have ended things early and caused the reporters to somehow twist it into something else.Johnny wiped the sweat off his forehead as he collapsed onto the sofa, ready to pass out from everything that had happened. "How bad was it?"His parents grimaced as they glanced at each other before his mother said, "It could have been worse."He wasn't reassured in the slightest. She was clearly trying to cheer him up, but it just showed how badly things turned out. If it weren't for that question, he wouldn't have been caught off guard, and things wouldn't have gotten ugly. Just thinking about it made him angry. Why would they even bring it up in the first place? Where had they gotten that information? There was no way the other two parties

Johnny would take what he could get. Even though it wasn't a power that would make him smarter, having the power to recall everything in perfect detail wasn't anything to scoff at. He could just read all the books and papers related to running the family and bring up the memory to deal with whatever issue that might appear."How can I get that power?" Johnny asked as he sat up. "Will the system just give it to me, or do I have to do a quest?"Speaking of quests, he hadn't asked anyone if they also received quests from the system. There were no mentions of quests in the news when people talked about the blessed, and no one in the house had talked about it within hearing range. He guessed it was another special privilege he got, though it would be great if he could get it for free like he did with his healing power.[The user is quite smart.][The user will indeed have to complete a quest before they can obtain a new power. The user's acquisition of their healing power was an exception.

Hello everyone. I forgot to add a note in the previous chapter. Anyway, I just want to thank all my readers who have been following along. I really appreciate it. Now for the news you have been waiting for.Johnny's story has ended and turned out shorter than Billy's story like I expected. With its end, I currently have no ongoing stories on this site.I've decided I'll take a break from the site. How long the break will last I'm not quite sure. Hopefully, the break won't be long, and I have a new story up within the year, but we will have to see.Just like with Rise of the Demon King: Caleb Gonzales's Rat Race and Rise of the Desperate: Billy Wood's Save and Restart System, I might do a rewrite or remake of it.If I do go through with this idea, then I'll just immediately go to eBook and paperback, and it would be very different from the one here. We will have to see, and I'll let everyone know.As I stated before, if you want to stay in contact with me, you'll probably have to use F*

    Chapter 96: Deal (2)

"By the way, I don't mean to rush things, but the time limit for the hour is until I return," she said. That certainly caught Johnny's attention as he demanded, "How long is that?""A couple more minutes," she said.A couple minutes wasn't a lot of time to come to a life changing decision. He still needed more time to think. Did he really want to take a chance and accept the offer, which meant leaving everything he knew, or should he stay and weather whatever the system had in store for the world? Weighing the pros and cons of each decision, he could feel sweat forming on his head."I need to go. Have you come to a decision?" she asked. After a brief moment, he said, "Yes.""Well, what's your decision?" she asked."I'll take the offer," he said. She smiled as she said, "Good choice."Suddenly, Katherine slumped over alarming Johnny, who rushed to check up on her. She appeared to be still breathing, and there didn't seem

"Okay, I'm listening," Johnny said."I'm glad to see you can be reasoned with. I've heard of others who aren't so fortunate," the intruder said."Others?" he said."We'll get to that later," she said as she attempted to make a waving motion.Unfortunately, Katherine's missing limbs made that a moot point. It honestly made Johnny uncomfortable seeing Katherine's body attempt to do something an ordinary person could do. He wasn't the only one put off by the situation. The intruder grimaced as she settled back into the wheelchair."Anyway, I'm here to give you a proposal from the system," the intruder said."What?" Johnny snapped."You heard me right. The system would like to offer you a deal, and it's up to you if you want to accept this," the intruder said.Johnny's mind whirled over what she said, scarcely believing what she just said. The system wanted to offer him a deal? This was completely unplanned. He had never heard of t

Johnny blinked. "Wait. EVeryone?"He couldn't believe what Frank was saying. Was he crazy? Did he really want to let the whole world know about the monsters being able to receive messages from the system? It would be complete chaos. Johnny was exactly advocating to tell no one. Far from it, but he couldn't see how it would help anyone to inform the public about this information."Well, not everyone," Frank said. "I'm referring to the authorities as this is a matter of security.""Will they take it seriously?" Johnny asked."It's hard to say. It's possible everyone will think it's a joke, but it's also possible that some will take the warning seriously," Frank said."I see," Johnny simply said."If that's all, I'm going to take my leave and let you get some rest," Frank said as he stood up.Johnny nodded. Chapter 93: Aftermath

Johnny's eyes snapped open as he sat up abruptly. His mind was moving at several miles per hour as he scanned his surroundings. He had to stop her before she got away. However, the monster was nowhere in sight. He wasn't sure how long he had been out cold, but he supposed it was a bit much to expect the monster to linger just because he told her to stop.More importantly, he was no longer in that place considering the lack of lava. Taking a good look at his surroundings, he deduced that he was back in his own world, which set him on edge. How did he get back? As he wondered who or what had brought him back, the door to the room swung open. He stared at the sight of Frank leading the backs of doctors and unknown men."Johnny, you're awake," Frank said as he rushed over to check on him.A tad bit uncomfortable with how Frank was acting, Johnny asked, "Frank, what happened?"Frank grimaced. "It's a bit of a long story. First, we should make sure you're okay."As soon as he said that, Fra

    Chapter 92: True Form

As Johnny stared at his mother, wondering why he felt uneasy about the whole thing, it finally clicked. "You're not my mother.""What are you talking about? Of course I'm your mother," she said.Johnny shook his head as he took on a relaxed stance. "No, you're not. I don't know why you're pretending to be here, but you should just give up now. It's not going to help you in the long run."The woman also dropped her stance and shrugged her shoulders as she said, "Well, this is unexpected. How did you know?"Rather than admit that it was just his gut instinct, he said, "I have no reason to tell you.""I suppose I should have figured you would say that," she said calmly. She was far too calm for his liking. He knew nothing about it here other than she was a fake, which didn't mean much in the end. It wasn't like he would have gone easier even if she was his mom. However, it did explain why she killed his father without batting an eye, but it begged the question of where his real mother wa

Chapter 91: Unexpected Turn of Events

Johnny ignored his father, as he was just relieved that his healing power and fire power helped him survive his father's attack. His fire power apparently gave him some resistance to fire, and his healing power healed whatever managed to get past his fire resistance. He took advantage of his father's shock to lunge at the man and return the favor. He landed several punches before his father recovered from his shock and shielded against the punches. Johnny didn't let up and continued to barrage his father with punches, hoping to get past his defenses and continue his original onslaught. After some time, his father apparently had enough and roared as he unleased a wave of flames. With a grunt, Johnny was forced back, though he was unharmed. His father glared venomously at him as he snarled, "That's enough. I'm going to end this."With a bravo that he didn't completely feel, Johnny said, "Just try it. You're just going to fail again."As his father was about

While Johnny didn't like the idea, he didn't have much of a choice. Sticking around wasn't going to do anything except waste time and put himself in possible danger. With no one else with him, he had no one he could rely on if he was suddenly attacked by a bunch of monsters, which was a serious risk. He didn't want to take that risk."Where do we meet up?" Johnny asked."We'll try to continue with the plan and head for the head of the family's office," Frank said.Just as Johnny was about to protest that idea, he heard a loud animalistic roar. He frantically checked his surroundings and didn't see anything. Before he could feel relieved, he heard screams and shouts on the other side. He placed his hands on the rubble, hoping to at least find a small opening to get a better look at what was happening."Frank? What's going on? Are you okay?" Even though Johnny had said he wasn't going to let the matter go, wasn't it a bit much to storm the Burns family's home just days after his decision? He thought it would take a couple weeks to prepare. They couldn't take down such a powerful family in just a few days. What was everyone thinking? He wondered if they all had lost their minds."Johnny, is something the matter?" Frank asked as the car headed for their intended destination. "You don't look good.""I just can't believe we're moving in now," Johnny said."You have nothing to worry about. Everything has already been sorted out," FRank said."Are you really sure we're good to go?" Johnny asked."You have nothing to worry about. It's been modified to include your involvement," Frank said.Frank might have said it to reassure Johnny, but it didn't in the slightest. Johnny had been at the meeting discussing
