"How about you have someone try to attack me with the intent to hurt me?" Johnny said.

"What?" the woman said, staring at him as if he had grown another head.

"You clearly don't believe me, even though I've proven that I can tell what you're feeling. If you have someone come in from my blindspot, I'll be able to prove that I can sense their bloodlust," he said as he crossed her arms.

Instead of saying anything or moving, she continued to look at him like she couldn't believe her ears. Well, he had to admit that he would also be just as bewildered if someone he thought was faking their power asked to be attacked. He would have thought they were insane or delusional and got security to deal with them. However, he was counting on it.

Johnny didn't seriously think that she would listen to him and send someone to attack him. That's why he wanted her to call security to deal with him, and he would prove to her that he wasn't a fraud. Just like he expected, she immediately excused herself to

Dorothy rolled her shoulders slightly as she kept an impassive expression on her face. She was finally done with her job and could return home. There was no chance she would get to go on the field since they were probably finishing up now. It was frustrating, but there was nothing she could do about it. As she walked towards the exit, she noticed someone blocking the steps. She narrowed her eyes as her guard stepped forward and said, "Move."The man turned around, and she recognized him as someone who had been standing in line. That itself wouldn't have caught her interest if it weren't for the look in his eyes. He didn't look at her with awe or fear. Instead, he looked at her as if he were looking at her as if they were acquaintances. She didn't think anyone outside the seven families would look at her with such familiarity."Sorry," he said as he stepped aside. Her guard was about to demand that the man completely move out of the way so they wouldn't even be within a foot of each ot

Johnny stared at the fallen cake before looking up at the smug look on the other man's face. Without hesitation, he punched the man in the face. Forget being calm and collected, the man deserved to be punched. The other man didn't seem to think he had the guts to do it, as he didn't react in time and collapsed to the ground with a bloody nose. His ex girlfriend stared in shock before screaming. "What did you do?"He stared unimpressed at her as he said, "You should have thought twice before messing around like that. You better pay for the mess you made."She scowled as she shouted, "Secruity. There's a crazy man here."They had already gathered quite a crowd, and the people were staring at them like they were spectacles. He sighed as he waited for the guards to show up. If he tried to walk away, it would only make him look guilty. The man on the ground got to his feet as he glared daggers at him. Johnny ignored it as the guards finally showed up with a staff member leading them."What

Johnny was able to get his shopping done without any more interruptions and exited the building when he heard someone shout. At first, he didn't pay any mind to what was happening behind him. It wasn't any of his business. It soon became his business when he heard the voice getting louder until he felt something grab him by the back of his shirt.Preparing for the worst, he looked behind him to see it was Zoey clinging to him. Confused, he stared at her for several moments before turning his gaze to his surroundings. Luckily, there was no one in the parking lot to see any of this happening. He could just imagine people stopping to stare and record what was happening. Johnny shuddered at the thought."What is it?" he asked, wanting to get it over with."We need to talk," she said.He frowned as he scanned his surroundings again to make sure no one had suddenly appeared to listen in on them. "Okay, but not here."She reluctantly followed after him. Johnny wouldn't have minded if she dec

Johnny didn't give the other person on the other end to speak and hung up. It really felt good to cut ties with them. Now that he was a blessed he could do other work that would pay him far better than the company could and provide him with a lot more benefits outside of what the government provided. Being a blessed was the dream occupation anyone could strive for.At least that's how it looked on paper. He frowned as he continued driving. Johnny had his doubts, given his experiences during the test. While they were most likely wrong on some parts, there were some parts that the system had to have gotten right. It wasn't hard to imagine those on the lower end being taken advantage of and then thrown away, but he wasn't going to let that happen to him.Pulling up in a familiar place, he stopped the engine and stepped out. There was quite a lot of damage with the blessed and police working hard to fix up the place. Surprisingly, the building he had been at was still in good condition. I

The man looked Johnny up and down. His eyes were partially judging him, and Johnny couldn't blame him considering how he looked. Johnny had only gone grocery shopping, so his wardrobe was still the same. In fact, he hadn't washed his clothes in over a week, so he probably smelled. The humiliation burned, but he had to suck it up.Well, that was in the past. He would no longer have to endure the humiliation of walking around in his dirty clothes. However, when he thought about it, it was odd that no one else had shown any signs of disgust. While he did his best to look as presentable as he could in clothes that hadn't been washed in a week, they couldn't have missed the smell.Johnny supposed it was their way of being polite. Rather than point out that he smelled disgusting and embarrass him in front of everyone, they minded their own business. That was probably the socially correct thing to do. Of course, this situation was entirely different, and Johnny could already guess what the m

  • Rise of the Commoner: Johnny Burns's The Lost Heir   Chapter 62: Moving In

Johnny put away the last of his groceries in the fridge and closed the door. Rolling his shoulders to get the kinks out, he took a moment to scan his new apartment. It was decent despite the monster attack in the area. It looked mostly unaffected, except for some issues with the plumbing and electricity, which were to be expected. After all, there had been a monster attack. He took a seat on the couch as he contemplated his new place. It was far from the worst he had to live in. It might also be better than the last apartment where he lived with his ex girlfriend. While the thought made him happy thinking about how he was moving up in the world, he also wondered what had happened to her and her new man after being dragged away. The couple would undoubtedly be furious about their treatment and find a way to come after him for revenge. He wasn't sure how high up the man was, so it might take some time before they bumped into each other again, unless his luck was horrible. As soon as he

At the end of Johnny's tale, Frank sighed. "I know that there are blessed who let power get to their heads, but attacking the civilians is a no go. Can you tell me his name?""Unfortunately, no. He didn't give me his name before he beat me up," Johnny said. There was no way he would have forgotten the guy's name if he had. Johnny would have burned it into his memory as he plotted a way to get back to him for the humiliation or not. It wasn't like he spared any memory for his ex girlfriend's name. He did not, but he would rather he hadn't. Remembering trash like that wasn't good for his health.Frank frowned and rubbed his chin as he said, "It'll be difficult for me to find him without a name. Do you have anything to go on?""He had blonde hair and blue eyes. He basically looks like one of those generic arrogant rich boys, but he isn't that high up. I believe he said he was rank C," Johnny said. The corners of Frank's mouth twitched at the description before he said, "I'll do my best t

Shockingly, or perhaps not shockingly, Johnny's ex girlfriend screamed, "What do you think you're doing? The more he watched her struggle against Frank, the more he felt like he had seriously dodged the bullet. Dating someone as crazy as her wouldn't be good for his health. From where he was standing, he couldn't see her man's expression, but he was sure that he was probably regretting hooking up with her."Ma'am, I suggest you stop before I have to use force on you," Frank said as he continued to hold her back with one hand. She yowled like a cat as she tried to claw at his eyes. Frank sighed before knocking her out with a punch. Johnny blinked in surprise as she dropped like a stone and lay on the ground, not moving. He didn't expect Frank to actually hit her since he could get in trouble for using violence against her. As if sensing Johnny's gaze, Frank looked over his shoulders."I won'

Hello everyone. I forgot to add a note in the previous chapter. Anyway, I just want to thank all my readers who have been following along. I really appreciate it. Now for the news you have been waiting for.Johnny's story has ended and turned out shorter than Billy's story like I expected. With its end, I currently have no ongoing stories on this site.I've decided I'll take a break from the site. How long the break will last I'm not quite sure. Hopefully, the break won't be long, and I have a new story up within the year, but we will have to see.Just like with Rise of the Demon King: Caleb Gonzales's Rat Race and Rise of the Desperate: Billy Wood's Save and Restart System, I might do a rewrite or remake of it.If I do go through with this idea, then I'll just immediately go to eBook and paperback, and it would be very different from the one here. We will have to see, and I'll let everyone know.As I stated before, if you want to stay in contact with me, you'll probably have to use F*

    Chapter 96: Deal (2)

"By the way, I don't mean to rush things, but the time limit for the hour is until I return," she said. That certainly caught Johnny's attention as he demanded, "How long is that?""A couple more minutes," she said.A couple minutes wasn't a lot of time to come to a life changing decision. He still needed more time to think. Did he really want to take a chance and accept the offer, which meant leaving everything he knew, or should he stay and weather whatever the system had in store for the world? Weighing the pros and cons of each decision, he could feel sweat forming on his head."I need to go. Have you come to a decision?" she asked. After a brief moment, he said, "Yes.""Well, what's your decision?" she asked."I'll take the offer," he said. She smiled as she said, "Good choice."Suddenly, Katherine slumped over alarming Johnny, who rushed to check up on her. She appeared to be still breathing, and there didn't seem

"Okay, I'm listening," Johnny said."I'm glad to see you can be reasoned with. I've heard of others who aren't so fortunate," the intruder said."Others?" he said."We'll get to that later," she said as she attempted to make a waving motion.Unfortunately, Katherine's missing limbs made that a moot point. It honestly made Johnny uncomfortable seeing Katherine's body attempt to do something an ordinary person could do. He wasn't the only one put off by the situation. The intruder grimaced as she settled back into the wheelchair."Anyway, I'm here to give you a proposal from the system," the intruder said."What?" Johnny snapped."You heard me right. The system would like to offer you a deal, and it's up to you if you want to accept this," the intruder said.Johnny's mind whirled over what she said, scarcely believing what she just said. The system wanted to offer him a deal? This was completely unplanned. He had never heard of t

    Chapter 94: Visitors

Johnny blinked. "Wait. EVeryone?"He couldn't believe what Frank was saying. Was he crazy? Did he really want to let the whole world know about the monsters being able to receive messages from the system? It would be complete chaos. Johnny was exactly advocating to tell no one. Far from it, but he couldn't see how it would help anyone to inform the public about this information."Well, not everyone," Frank said. "I'm referring to the authorities as this is a matter of security.""Will they take it seriously?" Johnny asked."It's hard to say. It's possible everyone will think it's a joke, but it's also possible that some will take the warning seriously," Frank said."I see," Johnny simply said."If that's all, I'm going to take my leave and let you get some rest," Frank said as he stood up.Johnny nodded. "Got it."Right as Frank was about to go out the door, he said, "Actually, there are some people who want to talk to you if y

    Chapter 93: Aftermath

Johnny's eyes snapped open as he sat up abruptly. His mind was moving at several miles per hour as he scanned his surroundings. He had to stop her before she got away. However, the monster was nowhere in sight. He wasn't sure how long he had been out cold, but he supposed it was a bit much to expect the monster to linger just because he told her to stop.More importantly, he was no longer in that place considering the lack of lava. Taking a good look at his surroundings, he deduced that he was back in his own world, which set him on edge. How did he get back? As he wondered who or what had brought him back, the door to the room swung open. He stared at the sight of Frank leading the backs of doctors and unknown men."Johnny, you're awake," Frank said as he rushed over to check on him.A tad bit uncomfortable with how Frank was acting, Johnny asked, "Frank, what happened?"Frank grimaced. "It's a bit of a long story. First, we should make sure you're okay."As soon as he said that, Fra

    Chapter 92: True Form

As Johnny stared at his mother, wondering why he felt uneasy about the whole thing, it finally clicked. "You're not my mother.""What are you talking about? Of course I'm your mother," she said.Johnny shook his head as he took on a relaxed stance. "No, you're not. I don't know why you're pretending to be here, but you should just give up now. It's not going to help you in the long run."The woman also dropped her stance and shrugged her shoulders as she said, "Well, this is unexpected. How did you know?"Rather than admit that it was just his gut instinct, he said, "I have no reason to tell you.""I suppose I should have figured you would say that," she said calmly. She was far too calm for his liking. He knew nothing about it here other than she was a fake, which didn't mean much in the end. It wasn't like he would have gone easier even if she was his mom. However, it did explain why she killed his father without batting an eye, but it begged the question of where his real mother wa

Chapter 91: Unexpected Turn of Events

Johnny ignored his father, as he was just relieved that his healing power and fire power helped him survive his father's attack. His fire power apparently gave him some resistance to fire, and his healing power healed whatever managed to get past his fire resistance. He took advantage of his father's shock to lunge at the man and return the favor. He landed several punches before his father recovered from his shock and shielded against the punches. Johnny didn't let up and continued to barrage his father with punches, hoping to get past his defenses and continue his original onslaught. After some time, his father apparently had enough and roared as he unleased a wave of flames. With a grunt, Johnny was forced back, though he was unharmed. His father glared venomously at him as he snarled, "That's enough. I'm going to end this."With a bravo that he didn't completely feel, Johnny said, "Just try it. You're just going to fail again."As his father was about

    Chapter 90: Meeting the Family

While Johnny didn't like the idea, he didn't have much of a choice. Sticking around wasn't going to do anything except waste time and put himself in possible danger. With no one else with him, he had no one he could rely on if he was suddenly attacked by a bunch of monsters, which was a serious risk. He didn't want to take that risk."Where do we meet up?" Johnny asked."We'll try to continue with the plan and head for the head of the family's office," Frank said.Just as Johnny was about to protest that idea, he heard a loud animalistic roar. He frantically checked his surroundings and didn't see anything. Before he could feel relieved, he heard screams and shouts on the other side. He placed his hands on the rubble, hoping to at least find a small opening to get a better look at what was happening."Frank? What's going on? Are you okay?" Johnny asked frantically. There was no response except more shouting and fighting. He was completely in the da

Chapter 89: Confronting the Burns Family

Even though Johnny had said he wasn't going to let the matter go, wasn't it a bit much to storm the Burns family's home just days after his decision? He thought it would take a couple weeks to prepare. They couldn't take down such a powerful family in just a few days. What was everyone thinking? He wondered if they all had lost their minds."Johnny, is something the matter?" Frank asked as the car headed for their intended destination. "You don't look good.""I just can't believe we're moving in now," Johnny said."You have nothing to worry about. Everything has already been sorted out," FRank said."Are you really sure we're good to go?" Johnny asked."You have nothing to worry about. The plan was already in motion before you decided to throw your hat in the ring. It's been modified to include your involvement," Frank said.Frank might have said it to reassure Johnny, but it didn't in the slightest. Johnny had been at the meeting discussing
