Chapter 5: First Step of Taking Revenge

[Should I be honored that you chose my weapon?]

"You're looking into it too much. It's just the best equipment for fighting against angels," he said.

[Item Information]

[Sanguine]

[Godly]

[Attack +2,000]

[A blood red sword belonging to the late 12th demon king. It was forged by the demon blacksmith Tien Autry using the demon king's very own bones and bathed in the blood of angels.]

[Every time you draw blood, you regain a small portion of your health.]

[Against those with the 'Divinity' attribute, it has double the effectiveness.]

As expected of the main weapon of the 12th demon king, it was made for striking down angels. No wonder they had difficulty defending against it during the final battle. The rest of the demon king's equipment must have also been Godly. Their best equipment had been Legendary.

"You know, if I didn't know any better, I would have thought you were setting us up to fail," he said as he pushed the angel back.

She gnashed her teeth together as pressed back. "You!"

Pulling back, he swung out at her, only for it to be blocked again. They continued their exchange of blows with neither side giving up ground. This fact didn't bother him. The fact he could even fight the angel on even ground with just one weapon was amazing. On the other hand, Judith's blows became sloppier the more enraged she became.

"Why won't you just die?" she demanded as she aimed to slice his head off and watched in frustration as it was stopped.

"If you think I'll just roll over and die because you say so, then you don't know me at all," he said.

With another enraged shriek, she struck again. Her spear flew out of her hand and embedded itself into one of the pillars. Stunned, she looked at her empty hands.

Luke held her at swordpoint as he regained his breath. "Give up. There's no way you can win against me."

Despite saying this, he knew he was at his limit. If things hadn't been so advantageous for him, he would have been the one to lose. A recovered spiritual body. A godly sword. A rash angel. Just losing one might have resulted in a different outcome.

Her clenched fists shook as she glared at him. "Why couldn't you have just died? Do you even know what it means to be a demon king?"

"No, I don't, but I wouldn't have gone down this path if it weren't for you angels," he said.

Suddenly, losing her remaining senses, she lunged at him with a hand raised to slap him. He pulled his sword back to prevent killing her by accident and caught her hand. Stabbing the sword into the ground, he used his free hand to slap her.

The force of his slap was enough to send her sprawling onto the ground. She pressed a hand to her face and looked back at him as if she couldn't believe what he had just done.

"Try that again, and I'll make sure to hit harder," he said as he shook his hand.

It had really hurt. He didn't realize how tough an angel's skin was. It was like hitting a stone wall back when he had been a regular human. His mind boggled at how his party could even face against a demon king when facing a regular angel was this tough.

[There were several other factors in play that allowed you to defeat me. Under normal circumstances, it would never happen.]

During the time he was distracted by the demon king, Judith still remained on the floor instead of trying to attack him again. She couldn't believe this was happening to her. She was an angel, and he was just a no good, dirty mortal recently turned demon king. She had never been so humiliated in her entire existence. If she was any less prideful, she would have burst into tears, crying about the unfairness of it all.

Their plan to permanently get rid of at least one demon king had failed once again. Her dreams of rising up in the ranks and reaching Salvador's status was now dust. She would undoubtedly be demoted for losing to a newborn demon king. She was going to be a laughstock, and it was the damn mortal's fault.

"Now what should I do with you," Luke said as focused his attention back onto the angel.

"What? Aren't you going to kill me? That's what you demon kings do. Kill angels," she spat.

[She isn't wrong. Why are you leaving her alive?]

"Death is too good for you. I vowed to make you angels pay tenfold for what you put me through," he said as he went to retrieve the sword.

Before his hand could touch the hilt, it vanished into particles just like how it appeared. He blinked at the sudden loss. A system message popped up in its place.

[Emergency Quest]

[Fight the Angel]

[You have successfully defeated the angel Judith.]

[Quest Reward]

[You can subjugate the angel Judith.]

Upon reading the quest reward, he smirked. "I like how this system thinks. If I make her my servant, wouldn't that be the best punishment."

"You depraved monster," she said as she scrambled back and covered the front of her body with her arms. "You better stay back or else."

While the sight of her running from him was pleasing, her other reactions made him cringe. He couldn't believe that would be her first thought as soon as he said he was making her into a servant. She had to have a dirty mind for jumping to that conclusion.

"Don't worry. I have no interest in you or your body. I wouldn't want it even if you offered up the whole world to me," he said as she made an affronted sound.

[I agree. I've seen better, and her personality is a big turn off.]

"You!" She jumped to her feet when a magic circle appeared underneath her feet. "This is..."

"You'll be my servant from now on. Let's work together to get back at the rest of your brethren, shall we?" he said with a smile.
