Chapter 74: One Down

"You should leave," Billy said after several moments of silence.

"We will not," the elderly man said. "We won't let you kill her."

Billy looked the old man in the eye and asked, "Then are you going to let her suffer? Can't you see that she's in a lot of pain? At the very least, you won't have to see her die if you leave right now."

As the elderly man was about to snap, the elderly woman placed a hand on his shoulder, and he stared at her in confusion. "Dear?"

"He's right. We can look away from reality, but it's not going to change anything," the old woman said.

Despite how hard she was trying to put up a front, they could all see her hands shaking from the anger and frustration that they all shared. For several long moments, no one spoke another word. Suddenly, Jacqueline coughed up more blood before moaning in pain as she clutched her injury. At the sight of her pitiful state, the elderly couple looked at her in anguish.

Finally, the old man said, "Fine. We'll be in the other room."
