"It looks like we were unable to save them," Billy calmly said.

Jacqueline nodded. "It's unfortunate, but someone bitten by a zombie isn't safe to be around."

Billy's eyes noticed the bite mark on one of the kid's exposed arms. Now no one can try to say they were monsters for killing them. Anyone in their position would agree that it wouldn't be smart to let someone bitten by a zombie roam free, even if they were a kid. It could even be said that they were merciful and put the kids out of their misery.

"What should we do about the bodies?" she asked.

"We should just leave them. We don't have time to handle them," he said, reminding her of their strict deadline.

She nodded before they hurried back to the house. Neither of them gave a single glance back at the bodies. They had already confirmed that the kids were dead, so there wasn't any point in checking on them again. The duo quickly entered the house and closed the door behind them.
