Chapter 116

"I'm sorry," she said, her voice shaky. "I know I was insensitive and thoughtless. I didn't think about how my words would affect you and Nancy. I just want you both to know that I'm really, truly sorry."

Dorian looked at her, his expression unreadable.

A long moment passed, the silence stretching between them. Then Dorian spoke. "I appreciate your apology," he said, his voice soft. "And I know you meant no harm. But I'm not the one you need to apologize to. Nancy is the one who was truly hurt."

Juniper swallowed hard, looking over at Nancy. She could see the pain in her eyes, the hurt that Juniper had caused. "You're right," she said. "I'll talk to her."

With a deep breath, Juniper turned and walked over to where Nancy was sitting. She sat down beside her, not quite sure what to say. "Nancy," she began, "I'm so sorry for what I said earlier. It was thoughtless and insensitive. I didn't mean to hurt you, but I know that I did. And I want to make it right."
