Chapter 125: Old memories
"I'm sorry for the way I treated you," Arnold said, his voice low and contrite. "I know it was wrong, and I should have been more respectful."

Dean's eyes narrowed, and he searched Arnold's face for any sign of insincerity.

But he found none, and a small part of him wanted to believe that the apology was genuine. But years of mistreatment were hard to forget.

Then he realized he would be no better than Arnold if he punished him. Instead, he let all the pain and hurt go

"Take your palliative and get out of my sight."

In that moment, something shifted within Dean. He felt the weight of all the hurt and pain he had carried for so long begin to lift, as if a burden had been lifted from his shoulders. He no longer wanted to punish Arnold for his past transgressions. He just wanted to move on, to find a way to put all of this behind him.

"I will go," Arnold said, bowing his head in deference. "I hope that one day, you can find it in your heart to forgive me."
