Martin found it difficult to comprehend the absurd request made by Megan and Rebecca. Granting their demand would put his business at risk of financial ruin, something he simply couldn't afford.

He sat down on the chair and gulped down his remaining drink while he slowly rubbed his temples. “I should have screamed that way,” he thought to himself as he wasn’t ready to lose Megan just yet.

Lost in contemplation, Martin was startled by the sudden ringing of his phone. Retrieving it from his pocket, he squinted at the screen, struggling to discern the caller's identity.

Since the caller's identity was not saved in his contacts, Martin hesitated for a moment, considering the possibility that it could be Megan using a different phone to contact him. However, after long contemplation, he eventually mustered the courage to answer the call and uncover the mystery behind the unidentified caller.

“Hello?” he said, and the caller cleared his throat.

“Is this Mr. Martin on the line?”
