CHAPTER SIX: DEATH AND RENEWAL.

“For the sake of Bel Air University’s reputation, I regret to inform you that you’re hereby expelled from the institution and all its programs.”

Those words from the VC’s mouth sent despair coursing through William. As soon as he left the man’s office, he had been escorted by security to leave the university grounds.

He stood outside the gate, watching as Wilson, Donald, and Ayra mocked him. Wilson even gave him a solid punch to his jaw right before the university gate closed in his face. Yet, William didn’t have it in him to be angry, not when he had just been expelled. Studying at Bel Air University, though hard, was a guaranteed way to gain access to a great future for him in the future; this had been the sole reason for persisting this long. But now, everything was gone. He had been struck over and over again by the Camillo twins until he was left with nothing.

“William! What happened?!”

Andre and Tracy had just rushed over to the gate to find William standing outside of it. The gatekeeper wouldn't let them out.

“The worthless scum has been expelled! Thank goodness!”

Ayra’s cheer answered Andre and Tracy’s question and their eyes widened in horror. They watched as Ayra jumped onto Donald and they began making out with fervor right there. They called William but the young man simply stood there, too lost in a daze to hear them.

With tears rolling down his face, William turned away from the gate and began walking away when his phone rang. This jolted him off his trance and he picked up the call. "Hello?"

“Good afternoon. Am I speaking with a family member of Sarah Camillo?” A woman’s voice came from the other end of the call.

William couldn’t help but internally cringe. It seems his mother hasn’t gotten rid of that cursed last name even after the divorce. “Yes, this is William.”

“Mr. William, I’m calling from Giantic Hospital.”

William nodded with a frown. This was one of the most popular hospitals in the city. Why were they calling him? “If I may ask, how did you get my number?”

The woman continued. “It was retrieved from your mother’s crashed phone. Mr. William, she was the victim of a road car accident and was brought into our care about five minutes ago.”

William’s body froze. “What?” He felt so physically drained that he could only whisper out that question. “What did you say happened to my mother?” He listened attentively as the woman repeated herself and he immediately ended the call. His cold body turned warm in seconds as adrenaline rushed through him.

Andre and Tracy had finally convinced the university gatekeeper to let them out; they ran out only to find William entering a cab that sped off. They had missed him, and they couldn’t help but worry about him.

William rushed into the hospital building and quickly got directions from the reception area. He rushed up to the eleventh floor and straight for the room number only to find multiple men in black suits and sunglasses standing before the entrance.

“What is going on?” William couldn’t help but wonder if the receptionist on the base floor had given him the wrong room number. Why were there so many bodyguards here? He tried to walk forward only to be stopped by one of the guards.

“Who are you? You can’t go in there.”

“I’m William, son of Sarah. I was told she was in that room and I need to go see her.”

This made the bodyguard finally look at him through his sunglasses. “Well, you still can’t go in. The doctors are in there at the moment.”

William took a deep breath in understanding, though he still couldn’t understand why there were so many bodyguards here. He knew he wouldn't be getting any answer from this bodyguard though, so he had no choice but to wait.

Ten minutes later, the door opened to the doctor coming out and William rushed over. "Doctor! Please, how is she doing?"

The female doctor looked at William with slight confusion. “Who are you?”

“I’m William, her son," William replied as fast as he could. “The hospital contacted me and I came as fast as I could. I can show you the call if you want?” He brought out his phone and showed the doctor the number.

The female doctor finally nodded. “Mr. William, I’m going to need you to be strong. When your mother came in, she already had a cracked skull and her limbs were deeply fractured. During the emergency treatment, we discovered it was much worse. She had four broken ribs and two of those ribs had pierced deeply into her heart.”

“No.” William was shaking his head as tears fell down his face unrestrained. He could only imagine the horrible pain his mother went through. “How is she now?”

The female doctor took a deep breath. “We tried our best, Mr. William, but I’m afraid we couldn’t save her. Your mother passed away a while ago.”

William’s face suddenly went blank for a while until his eyes suddenly rolled to the back of his head and he fell to the ground.

“Mr. William!” The female doctor was shocked at this and she rushed over to find the boy convulsing. She quickly alerted other medical staff over.

William’s five sensors were fading as he was losing consciousness. The last thing he caught was the patient room door opening and two men walking out. One of them had his eyes covered as his shoulders shook while the other one consoled him.

A few seconds later, he succumbed to the darkness.

William's eyes remained closed as his awareness slowly became active. His ears picked up on two voices in the room.

“….can’t believe I’ve lost her. This is entirely my fault.”

“Sir, the pain of loss is something only time can heal. We should focus on the present as it is.”

There was a sigh from the first voice. “I suppose you’re right. It’s not all bad, right?”

William’s eyes finally opened to find himself in a hospital private ward. He glanced around to find there were nurses who were making sure he was okay.

“Sir, he’s awake!”
