Chapter 12 : Determination

Damien approached Amelia, his eyes locked on hers, filled with a mix of determination and desperation. Ella, the little girl Amelia had adopted, gazed up at him with curious eyes.

"Amelia, please listen to me," Damien started, his voice low and urgent.

"I didn't abandon you. I swear on my life, I never left you willingly."

Amelia's expression remained icy, her grip on Ella tightening. She was doing her best to hold back the pain and tears that threatened to burst forth.

"Don't lie to me, Damien. I saw the note you left. You made it clear you couldn't handle our life together. I know how unfavourable being with me has been, but couldn't you have said it to me face to face? Why dump me like one dumps a used tool?"
