12. A New Ability

Warrick went to the family mansion as ordered by Ernest. However, when he arrived, no one came to open the gate.

He had used the intercom to announce his arrival, but there was still no response from the servants.

The intercom at the mansion could not be broken. The Rauveron family always repaired damaged items immediately.

It was clear that the servants were deliberately ignoring Warrick, and he had no idea how much longer they would go on like this.

"I don't want to do this, but you leave me no choice," Warrick spoke into the intercom for the last time.

The servants continued to ignore him, assuming the young master would eventually leave. But they were totally wrong.

A moment later, a loud noise could be heard from the main gate. All the servants rushed out to see what had just happened.

Their jaws dropped when they found out Warrick had used his old motorcycle to crash the gate.

Inside the mansion, Ernest was having tea when he heard the commotion. "What's going on?" he asked Curtis, the butler.

"I'll find out what's happening," Curtis was about to leave the room, but Ernest stopped him.

"No need. I'll confront the moron who dares to mess around in my home."

Ernest angrily set down his teacup, grabbed his cane, and headed out of the mansion, with Curtis following him.

Five years ago, Ernest had been in an accident that left his right leg permanently injured. No doctor could cure him completely, even if he offered a huge amount of money.

The servants immediately made way for Ernest, looking nervous upon his arrival. As the head of the family, Ernest was known for his ruthless nature. He did not hesitate to strike anyone who offended him.

No servant had forgotten the shocking incident where Ernest had beaten Jorge, his brother, for accidentally dropping his favorite painting.

Everyone could guess what would happen next. Ernest had abandoned Warrick all this time, and he surely would not think twice about raising his hand against his son.

"Good afternoon, Father," Warrick greeted casually as he got off his motorcycle.

Ernest shot Warrick a deadly glare as his son walked closer. "You truly have no manners!"

"That's right. I've been ignored by my own father for ten years. How can you expect me to be polite?"

Ernest gripped his cane tightly. He was somewhat surprised by Warrick's change in attitude. His son had never dared to fight him after he'd been kicked out of the family mansion.

"You've changed a lot," Ernest said. "But you should pay attention to your attitude because you're still part of the Rauveron family."

Warrick rolled his eyes in response, pretending not to hear his father's words.

"I came here because you asked me to. In other words, I'm a guest here. Yet, no one came to open the gate. I'm just returning your rudeness. Are you going to invite me in? Or would you rather speak here in front of many people?

Ernest did not say anything. He moved into the mansion as a sign that he wanted to talk inside. Warrick and Curtis came after him in silence.

The servants were curious about what they would discuss, but they had work to complete.

"You should not provoke your father's anger," Curtis suddenly spoke to Warrick. "It's best to remain quiet during your discussion. That way, your father might show some mercy and give you a small inheritance."

Warrick listened in silence. It had been a long time since he saw Curtis. Only Curtis remained respectful of him when the other servants turned against him.

Over time, Curtis's attitude had also changed due to Ernest's influence. Even though he cared about Warrick, he could not show it if he wanted to keep his job.

Curtis was still worried about Warrick, as evident in his mention of an inheritance. Everyone was certain that Warrick would be expelled from the Rauveron family without receiving any inheritance.

"I appreciate your advice, but I have my own way of dealing with this situation," Warrick declared, looking straight ahead at Ernest, who had stopped in front of a room.

Ernest glanced at Curtis. "I want to speak with Warrick alone. Don't let anyone disturb us."

Warrick followed Ernest into the room and took a seat before his father.

"The Finch Entertainment team contacted me this morning," Ernest went straight to the point. "They said you attacked Marvin, Lauren, and Russel."

"They deserved it," Warrick replied without showing any remorse. His face remained straight, even when the mad Ernest slammed the table.

"You are indeed an ungrateful kid! The parents of the people you attacked are investors in our family's company. You made our investors angry!"

"What do you mean our family's company? I've never profited from the Rauveron family business. So, why should I care about the investors?"

[Ding!]

[You have received a quest from Lord Chytix: Leave the Rauveron family.

Rewards: 500 System Points, 150 Skill Tokens, and a new skill.

Penalty: None.]

Warrick was somewhat surprised by this quest. He had no intention of leaving the Rauveron family, but Lord Chytix had given him this kind of quest.

What should he do? He hesitated, as leaving the Rauveron family meant losing his inheritance.

[Lord Chytix sighs. He assures you that this new skill could suppress the Rauveron family in the future. You won't regret accepting this quest!]

Warrick was now even more puzzled. He hoped Lord Chytix could tell him what skill he would receive.

While Warrick was mixed up, Ernest spoke again. "You also sneaked into the Orionis Star office last night. With your current behavior, no one in the Rauveron family will support you!"

Warrick clenched his fists. Before the car accident, he was a brilliant child who had won many competitions. People praised him, saying he would become a great family head.

Ernest also showered him with affection in the same way that Grace had done.

Back then, Warrick felt like the luckiest child in the world. But everything changed after the accident. He pretended to be useless, making everyone believe it was due to trauma.

Warrick was naive to think that people's attitudes toward him would remain the same. He would never forget the time when everyone, including his father, left him behind for thinking him useless.

Grace once said that people have many faces, and Warrick only understood her words after witnessing the change in people's attitudes.

"I don't deserve to be part of the Rauveron family," Warrick spoke with a bitter smile. "If I continue to be a part of this great family, I will only tarnish its reputation."

Ernest squinted. "Do you want to leave the Rauveron family?"

"Isn't it obvious? Starting today, I have no connection with this garbage family!"

After saying that in a raised voice, Warrick quit the room, leaving the stunned Ernest behind.

Curtis, who was waiting outside the room, heard Warrick's words and hurriedly caught up with him. "Why did you do that? You can't just give up like this!"

"I'm sure I didn't say I'd give up. Don't mind me," Warrick responded without looking back.

He ignored the curious and mocking glances from the servants as he passed by them.

His gaze was fixed on the system notification that popped up after the quest was finished.
