11. A Plot of Property

Zayden struggled to maintain his calm expression. Just like everyone else, he was surprised by Warrick's words. He had been careless by not deleting the CCTV footage.

This carelessness had occurred because Warrick had never rebelled before. As a result, Zayden believed his stepbrother would remain silent about the mistakes in the report.

'What caused this loser to change? Could it be because of his mysterious supporter?'

When Zayden thought back to the black card, he could not help but clench his fists. Last night, he had not talked to Ernest because his father had been busy, making it hard for them to meet.

Warrick was twenty-five years old, and according to Ernest's decision, he had the opportunity to prove his ability to manage the Rauveron family's wealth.

It should have been Zayden who became the sole heir. However, all of his plans had failed. If only Kaden killed Warrick in time, he could have secured his position as the next heir.

"It's not good to make a scene in front of many people," Zayden spoke out after thinking for a moment. He reached out to Warrick. "Let me hand over that footage to Jeff."

Warrick snorted. He grinned and stared at Zayden boldly. "If I do that, the evidence I painstakingly collected could be lost!"

"Don't you trust your brother?"

"I don't."

Irritated, Zayden withdrew his hand. People began to whisper about how audacious Warrick was to disobey him. He had to make Warrick realize he had no right to go against him.

"I'm only trying to be nice because we're family. If Father finds out you sneaked into the office to steal the CCTV footage, he won't listen to your excuses."

Warrick fell silent. What Zayden said was true. Ernest would scold him, regardless of whether he had stolen the CCTV footage to protect his integrity.

But why should Warrick respect someone who did not care about him? The issue of Ernest getting furious was a matter for later. He wanted to clear his name at Orionis Star.

"Thanks for your concern, Zay. But I want everyone to know I'm innocent," Warrick stated firmly.

Zayden pretended to look sad. "Alright. Don't get me wrong. I said something like that because I'm worried about you."

"Of course, I understand. You wouldn't deliberately prevent me from clearing my reputation. You're not a power-hungry brother who wants to ruin my reputation to remove me from the heir position, right?"

For the second time, Warrick stunned everyone. They were sure he was taunting Zayden. Nonetheless, Zayden showed no emotion on his face.

People would never know how much Zayden cursed Warrick in his heart. He kept his real feelings hidden to strengthen his good image.

From Warrick's words, anyone could tell he was determined to sit in the heir's seat.

Zayden had to be more cautious because his attitude could influence the supporters. When he first worked, he made a mistake that caused some of his supporters to leave.

He decided to put Warrick in a difficult situation, so no one would stand by him. For today, he would let Warrick behave as he wished.

"Follow me, Warrick. Let's meet Jeff together."

Curious people followed Warrick and Zayden. They headed to the sales division workstation.

Jeff was at the workstation with several employees. When Zayden came in, they were surprised and greeted him.

"Zayden, do you need something?" Jeff asked, smiling warmly. But his smile faded as he saw Warrick waving at him.

Jeff made a scene by snatching Warrick's collar. "Shameless! You made a huge mistake in your report. Yet, you still dare to show your face?"

"Why should I be afraid?" Warrick gripped Jeff's wrist, stunning the sales team leader with his strength.

Zayden separated Jeff and Warrick to avoid a bigger commotion. "My brother said he wants to show you something," he spoke up.

Jeff furrowed his brows in confusion. It was then that he realized many people had gathered in his workstation.

"What does he want to show?" Jeff crossed his arms. "I won't stay quiet if he causes trouble again!"

Warrick did not respond to Jeff and walked toward the projector. Usually, the projector was used to present stock market analysis or other important information.

But now, he would use it to display the CCTV footage. He had trimmed the footage to show only the important event.

Everyone waited with mixed feelings. They could not believe that Warrick, known for being foolish and weak, would take such action.

The CCTV footage began to play after Warrick connected the flash drive to the projector.

It showed a woman with black glasses and a blue sweater entering the sales division workstation. She glanced around before turning on Warrick's computer.

Even though the footage had no explanation, everyone knew the woman was messing with the document on Warrick's computer.

However, Jeff refused to accept the evidence. "The footage is unclear! We can't see what document she accessed. And didn't you admit yourself that you accidentally made mistakes in the report?"

"I was forced to make a false confession," Warrick responded calmly. "Everyone in the sales division knows your personality. Even after seeing this evidence, you still insist I'm guilty."

"That's because the footage is unclear!"

"Fine then. Since you want solid proof, I'll report this case to the police."

Jeff was at a loss for words. His breath caught as he met Warrick's intense gaze. He had made a big mistake.

Truthfully, he and Zayden had collaborated to come up with a plan to fire Warrick. The woman in the footage was someone he had instructed to sneak into the office at midnight.

But that did not mean Jeff was safe. His involvement in the case would be exposed if the police investigated it. He glanced at Zayden for help, but Zayden had not paid any attention to him since earlier.

"I-I believe you!" Jeff exclaimed, finding out Zayden would not help him. "That woman must have changed your report! You don't need to bother reporting this to the police."

Warrick grinned. "Sorry, I'll still involve the police in this case so people don't misunderstand me again."

Ignoring Jeff's attempts to keep him from reporting, Warrick removed his flash drive and walked away.

As Warrick passed Zayden, he whispered, "You must be more careful from now on, my brother."

Zayden was so furious with Warrick's action that he unconsciously bit his lower lip until it bled.

"Oh my, your lip is bleeding!" Madison shouted, offering Zayden her handkerchief.

Zayden touched his bleeding lip and accepted Madison's handkerchief. "Thank you very much. I was just angry because someone was bothering my brother. I'm sorry if I startled you."

While Zayden flashed a charming smile, Madison and the other girls flushed. Their hearts raced as they thought he was a kind man. He was truly the ideal husband of all women in the Radix Republic!

Meanwhile, Warrick was delighted to complete the mysterious quest.

These memories made him feel both comfortable and bitter at the same time. The most painful part of missing those who died is that you slowly forget their voice as time passes.

"I will find those who have hurt you, Mom. I swear."

Warrick almost shed tears as he memorized his mother. If he had known that his time with Grace was limited, he would have done more to make her happy.

Maybe in that way, the pain in his heart would not be as deep as it was now. He was always haunted by guilt because he did not bring much happiness to his mother.

While Warrick was lost in thought about his memories with Grace, his phone suddenly vibrated. He quickly checked it and found that Ernest had sent him a message.

[You ungrateful brat! I heard you've caused a lot of trouble. Come to the family mansion now!]
