2. Donating to an Orphanage

The quest from Goddess Axara left Warrick wondering what he should buy. He wanted many things, but he did not know which one to buy first.

"Well, I guess I'll buy some food first."

Warrick put on a black mask before going to a fast food restaurant. He still did not fully trust the black card given by the system.

If the card was fake, Warrick had planned to run away, and people would not know his face since he was wearing a mask.

The people at the fast food restaurant paid no attention to Warrick despite his shabby appearance. Anyone could go for a fried chicken or a hamburger as the food was not too expensive.

However, everyone's eyes were immediately drawn to Warrick when he pulled out a black card. Instead of being amazed at the card, they assumed Warrick was a scammer.

"Look at that guy over there pulling out a black card! Is that real?"

"I don't think so. It's just a regular card and he bought a black card case, lol."

"That's hilarious. He's trying so hard to look rich but look at his appearance. Who would believe he has a black card?"

A group of office workers gossiped about Warrick and laughed at him. They even raised their voices to be heard by the others.

Warrick could hear the people chuckling at him. For a moment, he felt embarrassed and wanted to leave the restaurant. But he did not.

"Can I pay for my order with this?" asked Warrick, showing his black card to the female cashier.

"Yes, you can," the cashier replied kindly. But in her heart, she insulted Warrick for buying a black card case to look rich.

"Thank you. I'll use this card then."

The cashier was taken aback when she received the black card. Her restaurant had partnered with Emerald International Bank, which released the special black cards.

As a result, she learned about the exclusive benefits that black card members may have, such as having the right to eat separately from other customers.

She could tell that Warrick's black card was real because of its luxurious design. A regular card would not have these design details.

"W-Warrick Rauveron...?"

Warrick frowned in confusion as the cashier spelled his name. "Yes, that's my name. Is there something wrong?"

The cashier did not answer. She knew about the Rauveron family, including the rumor of the useless, weak young master. And now that young master stood before her!

As far as she knew, the Rauveron family did not acknowledge Warrick as a successor and ignored him. Then how could he have a black card?

"Excuse me," Warrick waved his hand in front of the dreamy cashier. "Is there something wrong with my card?"

The cashier woke up from her reverie. If Warrick did have a black card, that meant he had an extraordinary income. Despite the rumors, she must not make a mistake in serving him.

"My apologies, Sir. I lost my focus for a moment. I'll process your order."

Warrick nodded. He waited nervously and breathed a sigh of relief when the cashier handed him the receipt. That meant the black card provided to him by Goddess Axara was real.

"Sir, our restaurant offers exclusive benefits to black card holders. You have received a 15% discount on your order. Then, the second benefit is that you can eat in a special room separated from regular customers."

The cashier explained with a beaming face. Previously, the friendly expression she revealed was fake. But now she was sincerely smiling at Warrick.

[Ding!]

[Goddess Axara commented on the attitude of humans. She said that the greatest test of humanity is money. She is wondering if your attitude will change now that you have unlimited black cards.]

Warrick grinned after reading the last sentence. He agreed that the greatest test of humanity was money.

When people don't have much money, their patience and honesty will be tested. Will they earn money in a good way or not?

It is the same when people have a lot of money. Can they be patient and not spend their money on immoral things?

During these ten years, Warrick suffered greatly from not having much money. His attitude would indeed change because he had power. But it would not be a change for the worse.

"I don't want a special room," Warrick stated. "What I want is a hundred fried chicken, pizza, hamburgers, and ice creams. Can I get that?"

The cashier blinked in surprise. "I'm afraid this restaurant can't fulfill your request. But I can ask another branch to help you. How about that?"

"I like that. I'll wait while eating my fried chicken. Let me know when my order is finished."

Warrick walked to the empty seat and sat down quietly. Everyone was looking at him with various expressions.

The group of workers who had been chatting about Warrick could only look down in shame. They did not expect the shabby man they insulted to be rich.

There was no way a poor person could make such a fantastic amount of orders. Everyone had the same thought: Warrick must have ordered a lot of food to share with others.

"Such a humble rich man! I wonder who he will share all that food with."

"I feel ashamed for being prejudiced against him. Isn't he a generous rich man? He even refused the exclusive right to use the special room."

"I wish I could be as rich as that man so I could buy a hundred of my favorite fried chicken..."

Warrick ignored people's reactions to his attitude. He took off his mask and started eating the fried chicken.

Half an hour later, the cashier introduced herself as Eva and informed Warrick that his order was complete.

A system notification popped up as soon as Warrick paid for the order.

[You need to spend another $90,053 to complete Goddess Axara's quest!]

Warrick wondered what he should buy. But at that moment, Eva came to him.

"Your order has been loaded onto the truck used to deliver groceries to restaurants. We've also prepared a refrigerator to keep your ice creams. Would you be okay with us using the truck?"

Warrick thought for a moment. "Yes, thank you. Can I get a ride on the restaurant's truck? I think it's better to use the truck to take my order to its destination. Don't worry. I'll give you an extra charge."

Eva nodded enthusiastically. "Do as you please, Sir. I'll arrange a driver for you."

Moments later, a man invited Warrick to climb into the truck and pick up food at another restaurant.

The people at the restaurant stared at Warrick's departure in awe. They did not recognize his face and began to wonder which family he came from.

The Rauveron family never released any adult photos of Warrick to the public, so people could not identify him. But they would recognize him instantly if they knew his full name since the rumor of the weak young master had spread across the nation.

In the truck, Damian glanced at Warrick and asked, "Where are you going after taking all the orders, Sir?"

"Lord Zegther's Protection Orphanage."

Damian could not help but feel surprised when he heard Warrick's answer. Almost everyone in the country had abandoned religion. It was rare to find people who still believed in the gods.

"A-Are you a worshipper of Lord Zegther?" Damian asked cautiously.

Warrick nodded. "When I was a child, my mother often took me to the orphanage to donate. She said we must share the good fortune that Goddess Axara entrusted to us."

That answer left Damian stunned. He was curious about Warrick's generous mother. But seeing Warrick's sad expression, he decided not to ask.

After Damian and Warrick took all the orders, they went to Lord Zegther's Protection Orphanage.

"Sir, I didn't mean to offend you," Damian spoke upon arriving at the orphanage. He glanced at the orphanage children, who were looking curiously at him. "But junk food is not good for children."

Warrick was a little surprised that Damian would say something like that.

"Well, junk food isn't good. However, such food is a luxury for those who cannot afford it. You might be able to buy ice cream every day, but not these kids. Don't worry. I'm not going to feed them this every day."

Warrick smiled at Damian before heading off to meet Brenna, the house mother. Meanwhile, Damian immediately understood Warrick's words.

The orphanage children were excited when Damian gave them ice cream. They shouted with joy as if they had found a treasure.

"Oh Lord, he's a nice guy," Damian muttered, looking at Warrick, who seemed to be talking to an old woman.

Brenna greeted Warrick's arrival with friendliness and confusion. Warrick was a frequent visitor to the orphanage, although his donations were modest.

This was the first time Warrick had brought so much food for the children. Brenna knew that Warrick's situation in the Rauveron family had weakened after the death of his mother.

Since Brenna found it strange, she had no choice but to ask. "Warrick, I'm sorry. But you didn't break into a bank, did you?"

Warrick laughed at the question. "I didn't, Sister. Trust me that this is my own money," he replied firmly.

"Aren't you living in hardship because the Rauveron family abandoned you? You should use that money for you and your wife."

"Don't worry. I still have plenty of money left. I thank the Goddess Axara for giving me unexpected fortune."

Brenna wondered where Warrick got so much money from. However, she was not going to ask because Warrick appeared to want to keep it a secret.

"I trust you, Warrick. Thank you Goddess Axara for giving Warrick fortune, so that he can share with us."

Suddenly, a system notification appeared in the air.

[Goddess Axara was delighted that her popularity had slightly increased. She promises to invest in other things if you can make many people believe in her.]
