3. A Deadly Blow

Warrick was excited at the thought that the Goddess Axara could bring him many benefits. But getting people to believe in the gods was not easy.

"What are you thinking about?" asked Brenna, confused by Warrick's sudden daydreaming.

"I'm thinking of ways to get people to believe in the gods again," Warrick answered honestly, knowing Brenna could help him.

"That's difficult. But I suggest you go to people who are in crisis and help them while telling them about the gods. You can also go to orphanages that have a religious background like this one. But don't pressure them to believe you."

Warrick's cell phone suddenly rang, so he did not have time to respond to Brenna's suggestion. He asked permission to pick up the call.

A puzzled frown appeared on Warrick's forehead as he saw the caller's name.

"Aelish? Why is she calling me at this hour?"

A man's voice was heard as soon as the call was connected.

"If you want your wife to be safe, come to the abandoned bridge on the border of Cordyline and Oxalis cities."

An unfamiliar and threatening male voice. It was clear this was a kidnapping scheme.

The man spoke again before Warrick could respond. "You must come alone. I'll shoot your wife in the head if you come with anyone else."

The call ended there. Warrick gripped his cell phone tightly. He wondered who was bothering him this time. Previously, he had only received insults and not kidnapping or death threats.

'Is it Zayden and his mother? Or is it the same person who planned the car accident?'

Warrick had many questions in his head. But this was not the right time to think about that.

"Sister Brenna, I'm sorry that I have to leave now," Warrick said after putting his cell phone into his shirt pocket. "I have some business to take care of now."

Brenna gave Warrick a worried look. "You can go. I'll take care of the food you sent. I hope your problem is quickly resolved."

Warrick nodded and said goodbye to the children before leaving. A confused Damian could only stare at Warrick's leaving.

A half-hour later, Warrick arrived at the bridge. The people who had been waiting for his coming greeted him with smiles.

"He really came alone," a bald man said, watching Warrick get off the motorcycle.

The man with the scar on his lip replied, "That's good. Our mission will be completed quickly since he came alone."

Warrick listened to their words and concluded that their real target was him, not Aelish.

"Who sent you?" asked Warrick, counting the number of people he had to face.

There were ten men with tall, bulky bodies. It seemed that they were thugs sent to kill Warrick.

"Where's Aelish?"

Warrick asked again after realizing Aelish was not anywhere.

"You don't need to know because you're going to die today!"

Suddenly, the bald man jumped at Warrick, followed by the others. They were confident their target would fall instantly because they were attacked in force.

But reality did not go as they expected.

"What the....?" A thug blinked in disbelief. He had no idea what was happening. As soon as he blinked, he fell to the ground with broken ribs.

The other two thugs followed. They bounced backward and crashed into the pillars of the bridge. Their spines shattered in an instant. A second later, they collapsed to the ground while spewing blood.

The remaining thugs stared at Warrick in confusion and shock. Warrick's incredible strength reminded them of movie superheroes.

Warrick laughed at the thugs' shocked expressions. He looked down at his clenched fists.

['Hands of Torment' has been activated!

400 Skill Tokens have been used.

Remaining usage time: 45:00.]

Warrick had activated his 'Hands of Torment' ability when he got off the motorcycle. He took martial arts lessons in high school.

His classmates looked down on him because he could not practice the techniques properly, which was just an act.

Warrick had to feign weakness to fulfill the system's requirements. But now, he was free to do anything. He combined the martial arts techniques he remembered with his mighty fists.

"This is weird!" The man with the gun spoke up. "Warrick is rumored to be a weak young master. How can he defeat A-level members in a single blow?"

The others directly responded.

"There's something wrong with him! We should run away and report this."

"You're right. It's better if we retreat for now."

Warrick gave attention to the thugs' talk with a straight face. From their words, he guessed they were from an organization that designated levels to its members.

"You think you can escape me?"

The thugs gasped in shock as one collapsed in a terrible state. His face was crushed by Warrick's punch.

Not only strength, Warrick also won in speed. He was more agile than the thugs, so they did not notice his movements.

"T-This speed is unbelievable! Warrick Rauveron must have allied himself with a demon to gain power!"

Warrick laughed out loud at the accusation. "The gods who blessed me must be offended by your words."

[Chytix agrees with you. He said that he had blessed you with Speed. But he did not update it in the system because it was a surprise.]

[Lios and Lias are satisfied that you used their gift well.]

Warrick stopped laughing when the system window suddenly appeared. He did not expect the deities to communicate in real time with him.

The thugs glanced at each other, confused, as Warrick stared into the air. They had no idea what he was doing. But they found this was the perfect time to escape.

[Veona, Goddess of Healing and Medicine, stop watching you.]

Warrick came back to reality. He remembered the system telling him that his actions could either attract or disinterest the deities.

"I have to attract them to gain more blessings. But for now, I just want to teach those thugs!"

A split second later, Warrick ran to catch the fleeing thugs. He punched them in the back of the neck one by one, leaving only one man.

"Wh-What do you want?" The remaining thug asked while pointing a gun. His pupils fluttered with fear as he stared at his defeated companions.

Warrick walked up to the thug, unafraid of the gun threat. "Tell me who sent you and where you came from. Maybe I'll set you free if you're honest."

The thug chuckled. His gaze shifted to his gun. "I won't tell you," he muttered in a voice that could barely be heard.

After that, he pointed the gun at his head and pulled the trigger. He killed himself because he did not want to divulge any information.

"What a loyal subordinate," Warrick commented in an exasperated tone.

He looked at all the thugs he had defeated. "They're not dead yet but I'm sure they won't answer my questions."

Ultimately, Warrick did not kill the thugs to reveal who sent them.

"I bought this before coming here to keep evidence. It turned out to be very useful," Warrick mumbled, removing the small camera attached to his shirt pocket.

It was now bound to the shirt of one thug. Warrick was sure a representative from the thugs' group would come to check on them.

With the camera's help, he would get a clue as he had connected it to his cell phone.

[Eiont, God of Creation, aka The Divine Blacksmith, applauded. He said that you have to utilize technology.]

"God of Creation?" Warrick rubbed his chin. "Would you like to bless me with a creation that will be useful?"

[Eiont shook his head. He still has not found any merit in you. He stopped watching you and returned to his work.]

Warrick sighed in disappointment. When he was young, his mother told him stories about Lord Eiont creating unique weapons and items. He wondered what Eiont would give him.

"Let's forget about that for a moment. I need to find Aelish first."

Warrick took Aelish's cell phone from the thug's pants pocket. He had to know what was going on.
