Chapter 7

“Hello” Alec excused himself towards a distance while notifying Harrison he would be back.

“Alec, by this time tomorrow, I want your stuff packed away from my room. I do not want you anymore. You are a disgrace to manhood!” The old landlord said.

“I also want to leave. I knew I should have called you earlier but…”

“You must be crazy! You think I would let you leave without you paying everything?” He said in anger.

“I will settle you later. I promise”

“Later? When will it be? Next year? Just pack your load, give me my money and get out!” He said in anger and hung up.

Alec smiled. In the past, he would have rushed home, wailing on his knees, telling him to give him more time and he would pay and then, he would think of explaining to Sophie that she would not get an allowance that week because his rent had to be paid but then, he would decide against it because he did not want to lose her.

Surely, they would settle this later.

For someone like him, that kind of place did not befit him at all.

The Viola's neighbourhood as the people that made fun of it would always say. It was a very poor neighbourhood that every kind of poor men including drug addicts, gamblers, old poor men were found. People were never well to do in that place.

A ghetto was another name to call it.

“Sir, you do not have to bother about it. I would treat myself and .. “

Alec wasn't ready to hear what his staff just told him. Moreover, Sheila could use it against him. She could go ahead and tell eveyone that cared to listen that the owner of St Louis hotel overused their workers.

People were interested in rumors afterall.

“Let's go!” Alec said, not wanting to hear anything again.

Meanwhile, outside the hotel, Sophie stared at the car in awe. Actually, when Alec had left the hotel, Sophie had excused herself form her boyfriend with the guise that she really needed to take care of her health claiming that Alec had disturbed her mental state.

Victor had wanted to drive her to the hospital but she declined and went into a cab instead. Fortunately for her, she was able to trace her way to the hotel and saw Alec's expensive car.

She couldn't believe her eyes. Alec was really the owner of the car? She thought in fury.

She could not deny the fact that she felt washed down earlier when Alec came with his car. Why did it seem like he wanted her out of his life before he revealed this? It made her wonder what else he had in his possession.

Now, Sophie remembered the question Alec had asked her when she broke up with him. He asked if she would neverr regret the decision she had made. Does this mean that he intentionally did this to her?

Now that she thought about it, should she not be the one to feel angry for cheating her? She thought and touched the car in awe.

“This is our boss's car. What are you doing here?”

“He's my boyfriend. Do you have a problem with it?” Sophie asked proudly even though she did not understand why a man from nowhere would suddenly call Alec his boss. She was very sure that this man would definitely forgive her. After all, she was still beautiful. Who would not want to be with someone like her?

After all, he was nothing but a fool. Once she had all of his money in her possession, she would leave him once again and start off a a new life. Then, she would live the baby girl lifestyle she had always wanted to live.

“Have you seen him? Are you sure this is actually where he came?” Her friend asked her.

Her friend also had also stopped by to support her when she had seen how she rushed out of the party earlier. She also wanted to ride in a car like his. So, she also had to do all it took to make sure that the both of them came together.

“Haven't you seen his car here?”

“Your boyfriend doesn't even have that kind of car.”

“He's not my boyfriend yet. Alec is mine and I have to get him back.”

“What do you think may be taking him so long? What if he is with another woman?” Her friend asked.

Sophie laughed. She knew Alec too well. He was too much of a nerd. He could not even afford to touch another woman while they were together. He was always afraid that once he cheat on her, he would never find someone like Sophie.

He could not even afford to ask another woman out because he was scared that they would not give him the chances since he was poor.

“He can not be with another woman. I have not been gone for a week and you think he would want to be with another woman? You must be kidding!” She said and flipped her hair.

“Wow! How come he washed you down at the party earlier?” Her friends asked in curiousity.

“Well, that is because he is still very mad at me. If he is not mad at me, I am sure that he would not talk that way.”

“Can you call him instead? I can't wait to be in this car” She said in excitement.

“Just exercise patience. Once this is done, I promise you that you will ride in it. We would party away as you wish!”

Sophie said and closed her eyes. She could imagine how it would be to drive in this car. She could even make Alec her driver. The fool would not suspect after all. He would probably do it for love! And then, she would break up with that silly Victor.

But then, Sophie looked ahead in shock suddenly when she saw Alec with another woman!
