Episode 11 : A huge secret

" I'm not buying your pretentious acts Rex Louie " Karson began harshly. His gaze varies around Rex and finally fell on the wristwatch he wore.

" That looks familiar. How do you obtain a watch like that? "

" From my dad. He's Dead now thanks to your son " Rex replied without any hesitation and Karson scoffed.

" I know something dubious is going on with you Rex. I would advise you to stay away from my son and family if you precious your life so much "

It's a threat that was made with a cold heart.

Rex gulped down hard. Of course, he knows Karson meant his words. However, he didn't bother to reply.

He only bows his head slightly and walks past him. He flagged down a taxi later on and alighted before RCC.

Rex headed towards the male student resident hall when he met Khalil waiting for him outside the building.

He rolled his eyes tiredly. The Time is only a little before midnight and he is supposed to be relaxing his ribs.

" Congratulations Rex Louie. You won the race track and appears in the sports news. I will give you that " Khalil began tauntingly.

Rex stood still to hear his rant for some time.

" Don't forget the Javelin throw is still on. I will win that part, Rex. If I can't win the gold then no one will "

Rex has heard enough. He only scoffed lightly at his opponent and then walk into his room.

He had expected to see Gael and Emilio but he saw no one. Slowly he pulled out his cell phone and gives Emilio a call.

When he put on his mobile he saw the hundreds of missed calls from both Gael and Emilio.

' I'm in for scolding ' He mutters to himself Inwardly before dialing Emilio's contact.

" Where the hell are you guys? " He asked but then Emilio's voice came, shakily.

" Gael's sister collapse just a few hours ago. Why didn't you pick up your damn Cellphone for hours? "

" Collapse? " That was Rex's question. " Hell, which hospital? "

" I will text you the address. Get your ass down here before Gael jump over the terrace in grief "

" Shit! Hold him down. I'm on my way "

Rex races out of the house. He rushes out of RCC and flags down a taxi.

At that moment a message from Emilio beeped in and Rex's cellphone displayed the address of the hospital.

It was fifteen minutes to twelve in the odd hour when Rex alighted from the car and dashes into the hospital like a man possessed.

His friends have been like his brothers and their families have been his too. Hell, they buried his dead Father for him.

Rex looked around the tidy hospital and arrived at the lobby to see Gael pacing about.

Gael's mother was seated but crying while Emilio was busy consoling her.

They are waiting for the doctor. Gael's father is an old retired man who died in his bed a couple of years ago.

Gael's mother was left with nothing but two children, Gael and Autumn.

Of course, she also was thriving to get her children educated and all. When Autumn collapsed she has been devastated.

The doctor arrived just a second after Rex. Everyone rushes to him to hear what he has to say.

" There is no need to panic everyone. Autumn will be fine " The doctor says. " Where is her father, please? "

The silence came and the doctor understand at once.

" I'm sorry for your loss. Anyway she will be treated but you have got to pay out the sum of ten thousand dollars before the treatment "

Laurel's world was put to pause. The amount of money to pay for her daughter's health is almost enough to make her go crazy.

She nearly slumped and fell but luckily Rex grabbed her from behind and sit her down.

" Calm down Mother. It's ten thousand dollars, right? I will pay for it " Rex declared to the woman who look away with fresh tears welling in her eyes.

" My son you don't need to tell lies just to console me. Her father left me and his family never helped. I can't..."

Rex interrupted her bittered speech by giving her hand a soft squeeze.

He stood up afterward and turn to the doctor.

" Tell me where the cashier's section is. I would like to pay with my credit card "

Everyone was stunned except Emilio and Gael. They know Rex has been spending millions lately.

The ten thousand dollars is just like a piece of cake to him, right? No!

Rex's eyes were fixed on the wall clock all through. Three minutes remain to twelve which would signify another brand new day.

When they get to the cashier's section Rex slowly pulled out his credit card. His heart thudded at this. His eyes are still on the wall clock. The second crawled very slowly.

" Hello? " The cashier asked as she held out her hand to receive the card.

Everyone stared at Rex whose eyes was still fixed on the wall clock.

He gave the cashier his credit card and the woman made to use it. The time counting down.

The minutes turned down into seconds and inwardly Rex Began the countdown.

Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one,... Zero!

" Tick. Tick. Tick. Daily challenge. The sum of twenty million dollars should be spent before the day ends. You got hours left to complete your daily task. Tick. Tick. Tick. "

" Use the card now, " Rex said after hearing the robotic voice in his head and the cashier obeyed him.

The bill was paid for Autumn's health and care. Laurel couldn't get out of the shock.

She almost falls on Rex's feet in appreciation. The three Friends' bond tightened the more.

They soon were granted the grace to visit Autumn. The beautiful young lady is asleep. Gael's younger sister.

" Thank you so much, Rex. I would never forget this " Gael said to him but Rex only shrugged him off.

Now all the time Emilio never took his eyes away from Rex. He had caught him being calculative of the time.

He knows that day that Rex has a huge Secret. To unravel it will take time but he isn't disheartened.
