Episode 14 : That Same day

" This is insane. I can't believe Khalil is ready to send Rex into an Early grave just because of the trophy " Gael blurted out tightly.

They have managed to get Rex back into bed. Emilio couldn't reply. He is too stunned to muster up any words.

He step away from the bed to get the bowl of water for Rex to clean up when unexpectedly, the latter struggled to sit up.

" Rex you shouldn't be..."

" I have to go " He interrupted Emilio softly. Rex's voice was wavering. " I have to go. It's the last day "

" The last day and you Can't even lift your finger. How will you be able to participate in the competition Rex? " Gael asked softly.

The friends are so disturbed.

" You can't go. It's not only unwise but stupid " Emilio chipped in with the tone that signifies finality. " Stay in bed, I will clean you up "

Rex knows they are concerned about him. He knows they love him and all but he is not ready to bow before Khalil.

He just won't. Louie, his real father had done to Khalil's Father. He won't bend the knee now.

Slowly he gritted his teeth and stood up from the bed. With his knees shooking, Rex goes off to take his bath.

After allowing the cold water to soothe his brown hair and shoulder, Rex step out and began to get dressed in silence.

" This won't do Rex. It's crazy. To win a javelin throw you have to be agile and concentrative but you can't right now Because you are unwell "

" Rex this is a bad idea. The last time you won the competition, you aren't hundred percent healthy "

" But I won " He replied smoothly as he turn around to face his friends. " I won guys. I can do it again. I have been training for a long time for this day, this trophy "

" We know this but..."

" Gael, please... No scolding for today " Rex pleaded. " I have to show up there. Either healthy or sick. If I didn't show up the trophy will automatically be Khalil's. I'd rather die than see that happen"

Thinking about this so hard, Emilio and Gael see the light. Immediately they helped Rex in preparing.

In no time Rex took his stride out. He feels a new energy surging into him now.

Slowly when he enters the large field, an uproar rang out that almost deafen even Rex's ears.

It's no news that every girl wants to be his now. He looks around to see the majority of the attendance jubilating for him.

A smile appears on his face when he turns to see Sheila and Lady Thelma seated gently while staring at him.

All of a sudden the bell rang out which signifies the start of the competition.

Rex marched to his post, he walks past Khalil who was already white with shock.

" Impossible! " He mutters to himself. He wouldn't believe it and he began to doubt if Nurse Cassandra or Pearl has been speaking the Truth.

He has been the one who talk the nurse into giving Rex a killer pill and also the one who had Instructed pearl to go check on Rex's health the previous night.

" Rex Louie has more than nine lives. I get it now " He said to himself angrily.

When it was time to pick up his spear, he walk past Rex and noticed the latter standing unsteadily.

Khalil was delighted and surprised by this. A new ray of hope surged into him and he gritted his teeth.

It turns out that Rex isn't healthy enough. The javelin throw requires a lot of strength.

Rex couldn't wield such strength at that moment. Khalil goes First.

He picked up his spear with determination written boldly on his face.

He kept his sight on the target area, and then he grounded his left leg and push off with his other leg.

Kahlil Transfer his weight forward and thrust his throwing arm up and forward.

He Lets lose his javelin when his hand is ahead of the front foot and at its apex.

With much force that makes the ground itself shook, Khalil makes his throw as though his life depends on it.

The people who are present marvel at his capability and he was praised.

Now it's finally Rex's turn. The young man breathed out shakily.

His ribs still throbbing him and his lips quivering. Rex shut his jaw to put off the dizziness in him.

Slowly he walk off to take the Javelin which he held at a height above his head firmly and position it parallel to the ground.

Rex Put both his feet tightly close to each other, facing them in the direction of the throw.

He kept his palm on the throw as he focused and then he Pull the javelin back with his shoulder as far as possible.

He is set and ready but then his knees decided to trouble him at that moment. Rex's legs give way and he doubles up on the ground.

At once Sheila stood up from where she sat in concern. Lady Thelma was quick to notice her shivering legs.

" Oh Rex, please, please. Please Rex "

The only daughter of Pa Riley couldn't believe her adopted daughter had fallen so deeply in love.

She however turns to the young man who is struggling for his life. At once the medical staff goes to him.

" Oh no, he is suffering greatly, " one of the nurses said. " He can't go any further "

The words about Rex's incapability to take the competition reaches the host's ears.

The school authorities who know how Rex is from the beginning stood, decided to call the whole thing an off.

" It's unnecessary to hold this competition anymore since one of the competitors is ill " The host Began.

" Rex Louie, the winner of the race will be left off to treat himself but next week without fail, when the female competition reaches the final, the males will participate as well on that same day.

" The female and male Winner will be crowned that day. I apologized for the inconvenience viewers.

" We all should bear with Rex Louie. He has been working hard all through the week "

That was how the competition ended without any hesitation. The people started departing in no time.

But one could tell Khalil isn't pleased with the turn of events. With his jaw gritting together, he whirled around and dashes away.

Rex however stayed Behind to get together his breath. This is a rare chance given to him thanks to his kind nature and hard work.

He vows not to let it go to waste. Slowly he gritted his teeth when he remembers the drugs.

There is no way Nurse Cassandra will be denying it. At once his two roommates dashes to his side.

When the medical staff came to take him away for treatment, Rex only shrugged them off.

" I will be fine " He says.

Rex set out immediately, his destination is the medical center. He vows the cops will be arresting someone that same day.
