Chapter 10

Remuel stared at Loris with a sharp gaze. She couldn't believe that in such a thrilling situation, Loris could still stand up even though he could see in his eyes that the young man's legs were wobbly.

"What the hell was that?" Remuel's whispered voice caught in her throat.

Remuel gritted her jaw, but she still did not throw her sharp gaze straight at Loris. Her other hand began to reach into her pocket for another bullet. Out came an elongated pointed object with a solid gold-coloured metal plating.

"You think you'll survive this time?" Remuel said. She then inserted the magic bullet that she had enveloped in magic into the lopak. Remuel then gave a small grin just as a single bullet entered the lopak from her magic firearm.

Loris returned the woman's gaze and flinched. She was still raising her hands, trying to balance the energy in her body after it had been released due to the previous duel.

Seeing Loris' cold reaction, Remuel chuckled in annoyance. "If this had been your other hand, perhaps you would have been grateful for the rest of your lower body".

Remuel showed a small grin on his face after saying ruthlessly.

"There's no point in you provoking me."

Loris' reaction was no less cold. He refused to give in to the threat Remuel had shown.

Loris slowly walked towards Remuel while perfecting her magic power in her hand that could still be moved.

The situation on the stage became so thrilling. All the audience chose to be silent and eavesdrop on what the two people were discussing.

Meanwhile, Elder, who saw Remuel's sharp gaze, felt a little uneasy. She felt that something was going to happen because she saw Loris, who walked forward confidently but did not care about the condition of his body.

"Something might happen," the oldest Elder said to the other Elders.

He put both hands behind his waist and left the surveillance room. The old man walked faster than his usual relaxed demeanour.

The other three elders just stared at each other without stopping or following the Elders out of the room.

Back on the stage, Remuel saw Loris' steps getting more confident as he approached. His hand, which had been very straight and upright, pointing at Loris, gradually became shaky.

"Why are you coming forward?!" Remuel snapped, holding back her fear.

Loris remained silent and began to form her imperfect magic into a bulletproof shield like before.

She didn't want to waste energy by replying to Remuel's angry question. Even so, Loris did not stop staring at Remuel.

"Just wait," Loris moved his lips slowly in a whisper.

Loris' flat gaze was considered a threat by Remuel. The young woman began to feel intimidated by Loris's confident demeanour, which grew bigger and bigger.

Like a giant heading towards her, Remuel felt her guts shrinking little by little when she saw Loris' sharp gaze.

Especially when Remuel began to realize there was no problem with Loris' magic refinement in forming his bulletproof shield. She saw Loris carefully that the young man was improving by leaps and bounds after the two times she had been severely attacked.

"Argh, no!" Remuel asserted herself. She shook her head quickly to realize herself.

Remuel, coming to her senses, immediately stabilized her magic fire to activate the bullet he had inserted in the magazine.

Her hands that were shaking before, she strengthened and firmed her shoulders. Remuel took a deep breath as the refinement of her magic bullet took place.

Meanwhile, elsewhere, Arturo was brandishing her weapon unnoticed by others. She pointed the gun at Remuel hesitantly.

"Remuel, don't do that!" Arturo's trembling voice stuck to the tip of her lips. She wanted to keep his promise by stopping Remuel's shot.

Just as Remuel's refinement finished, Loris smiled back on the stage and took out a more sturdy shield with his injured hand.

"Look at that!" said one of the audience members who had been silent.

The words surprised the other spectators and Remuel, who had fired a shot from his magic bullet.

Meanwhile, Loris' hand, full of blood, instantly became strong enough to lift. He had completed a better shield than the previous two duels. He put it up to protect himself from Remuel's shots.

Right at that moment, Remuel's hand opened fire, and she was surprised when she saw the bulletproof shield wall that was sturdier than before.

A huge explosion instantly appeared with great magnitude and loudness. The bright light from the two magic effects spontaneously dazzled the spectators' eyes. Just then, thick smoke appeared after Remuel's bullet hit the bulletproof shield wall in front of Loris' body.

"Ergh! What the hell," Remuel groaned and covered her face with her elbow to protect herself from the effects of the explosion.

Arturo lowered her hand with a look of utter shock. Her mouth opened with widened eyes as the huge explosion almost covered the entire stage. She was too late to let his magic bullet hit Remuel.

Not far from the audience seats, Federic clenched his fists with a very red face. His anger was already bubbling up in his head and ready to explode.

"Loris!" called Arturo loudly.

She saw the flames behind the smoke engulf Loris. "No!" Arturo shouted again.

In the middle of the crowd she tried to break through, in her mind he was sure Loris would not be able to survive just relying on bulletproof shields. His body would be destroyed in the huge lava of fire.

"Loris!" shouted Arturo as she broke through the crowd that was narrowing and making it difficult for him to move. "Even with his magic shield, he can't withstand the heat and flames." Mumbled Arturo, who was getting impatient towards the stage.

Meanwhile, the tense situation became anxious after the big explosion on the stage.

Federic who was not far from the stage shouted and roared angrily after the explosion.

Many regretted it, many were concerned about Loris who they thought lost to Remuel.

Frederic unconsciously pulled out his fire weapon. A jet of intense blue magic fire also came out of the hand along with the fire weapon.

"Hahh, what's that," a chuckle came from one of the spectators standing next to Federic.

He started to move away out of fear.

The tense atmosphere was now also felt beside Frederic. But soon a large male hand grabbed Federic's wrist.

"What are you doing!" said the man in a heavy voice.

He held Federic's hand tightly, "Stop that, don't do anything that will violate the rules passed by the previous elders!" explained one of the Elders.

"Let go of my hand, Mr. Ramos," Federic said in a heavy and trembling voice.

He was the eldest Elder named Ramos. The man had been watching Federic's movements since the Elders' room.

"Your son and Remuel have already signed the documents. The duel was a legal life-and-death duel from the start. No one can interfere or stop it until the promise of the fight is finalized."

Ramos explained firmly. His tone was sometimes broken due to his ageing condition.

Federic who heard that sighed softly and closed his eyes, he remembered the crooked signature of his son on the legal document.

Frederic clenched his fists in annoyance. His heart ached, his eyes closed because the pain he felt did not want anyone to see.

"Frederic, control yourself." Elder Ramos said before leaving there.

While Arturo, who never reached near the stage, began to blame himself, he dropped his gun when the huge fire had been full on the stage for more than three minutes.

That's enough time to destroy someone's life. Arturo stared at Remuel furiously, his anger mounting and hatred unstoppable.

"I'll kill you, Remuel," Arturo muttered in a trembling voice.

His steps even weaker, he looked down in defeat and stared at his firearm lying on the ground. His tears were unstoppable at the thought of losing someone he loved so much.

Suddenly, the thunderous voices of the other spectators boomed, disrupting Arturo's grief. She looked up while still crying.

The light from behind the thick smoke was blinding.

"he's not dead!" one of the spectators at the far end of the pitch shouted enthusiastically.

The crowd cheered loudly.

Arturo stopped her tears and looked up at the stage again, seeing the magic glow from the light enveloping the body of the one they were waiting for.

Loris came out of the smoke wearing a suit of armor wrapped in high level magic.

"It's Loris!" one spectator shouted to clarify things.

They all couldn't believe what they saw, including Arturo, who wiped his watery eyes several times. He wanted to make sure what he saw was the truth.

The truth is that Loris managed to condense an E-class magic in the bulletproof armour on his body.

"Huh, is that real?" Remuel said in disbelief.

She even forgot to fire again to stop Loris, and by then, Loris was already walking towards Remuel with a straighter and healthier body.

"You lost."

Loris raised his leg high and performed a high kick towards Remuel's body. A strong wind with great magic power sent Remuel flying and crashing to the ground.

Remuel felt his head spin from the kick, mostly aimed at his upper body.

He lay on the ground with weak legs and could not lift his body to get up.

They had prepared their weapons, not only the pistols but also the daggers they had made. Only gunners had such a complex, challenging, and varied set of tests. That was why the blacksmith faculty would not be as complicated as the gunner. As they were standing behind the line, the rules were explained from the loudspeaker"Listen and understand carefully that in the maze, there will be a statue arranged to give out scores when students shoot it." The voice was evident and firm. "Each student has one shot inside the maze. It is also a different situation like you outside. The weather inside has been engineered," he explained.
