Chapter 9

The sound of cheers and applause instantly increased, and all the spectators felt a rush of emotions. Some couldn't wait to see Loris lose. Some couldn't wait for Loris to make a name for himself and make Federico proud.

That's on a small scale.

But right now, what was eagerly awaited was Remuel's magic bullet being released, "Release!" one of the voices cheered and was right on Remuel's countdown.

Although Loris had always disappointed the audience and Federico's supporters, those who had long loved magic duels were looking forward to improving the skills of one of Federico's successors.

There was a desire to roll back the disgrace of the Federico family, and there was a little light of hope in their eyes.

Remuel sighed, "Ruined!" he muttered hatefully.

Amidst the cheers, Loris' eyes were fixed sharp and straight on Remuel. "Yeah, let's get it all out!" Loris muttered to himself as he set his jaw.

He was wary.

At that moment, Loris was trying to strengthen the magic power he was trying to gather in his hands. Loris felt the magic in his hand getting stronger every second. The power started from the feeling that appeared until the blue magic fire full of glitter appeared.

"Ergh!" Loris groaned softly, feeling the heat in his hand.

Sweat poured down Loris' temples. He felt the rush of his blood flowing quickly to his heart to the effect that he had difficulty breathing for a few seconds.

The tension was palpable all around the pitch when the spectators saw the blue, glowing effect on Loris' hand. The blue, glowing effect began to spread around Loris and form a shield.

"This is crazy!" said an old woman as she closed her eyes. The woman sat at the front of the audience. She had an anxious look on her face as Loris was about to be shot by Remuel's bullets that had already rushed out.

It was cruel and tense.

Many spectators' eyes did not blink to enjoy the momentum that was considered very memorable after the last few years. Only news of Loris' failure spread.

Remuel's power and C-level magic bullets clashed, creating a lot of smoke and dust. The pressure spread until it was difficult for them to breathe.

"What's going on? What's going on?"

question after question arose in the audience seats. Everyone was excited when the stage was filled with smoke and dust that appeared when the loud bang of Remuel's bullet hit Loris' magic shield.

A few seconds later, the smoke and dust became faint and disappeared. Loris stood before everyone with one hand raised.

He tried to dispel the smoke with some low-level magic he had mastered. One shoulder was out of joint, making it difficult to move her hand.

"This is nothing," Loris said as he appeared before everyone standing tall.

Everyone saw that, and everyone was dumbfounded, including Remuel, who couldn't believe a bullet from a level C pistol hadn't knocked Loris down.

"Yeay!" The first cheering voice of the young woman was heard in Arturo's seat. Her face, which had been nervous, became more relaxed when she found out that Loris was fine.

All eyes including Remuel's, were on Arturo, who was cheering happily while jumping up and down.

"Brother Loris! Hang in there!" Arturo cheered again.

That cheer was the start of the others. The young students of the Federico family began to cheer for Loris, who was undaunted on stage despite his apparent deficiencies.

"Brother Loris, come on!"

"Yes! Come on, Loris. You can do it!"

Cheers from some of Loris' former classmates joined in and began to encourage him. Something was having an effect.

Remuel's sharp gaze from Arturo shifted to Loris and began to become serious. The girl began to rearrange her stance more firmly.

Loris's father clenched his fist with burning enthusiasm. He stood far away in the room at the top of the public viewing area. It was the viewing area for the teachers and elders.

The elders started muttering to each other without inviting Federic, "That boy has released his magic. But it's imperfect magic," explained one of the elders.

The other three elders started looking at each other and nodding. The other oldest elder, who had been neutral and silent since the beginning, began to speak up at that moment, "I saw how Loris began to create magical explosions to avoid the straight trajectory of the bullets aimed at him. He still couldn't create a perfect shield until he made that blast. quite ingenious," explained the man coldly.

"But waiting for three bullets to hit your body won't save your life," the youngest Elder chuckled coldly.

One of the youngest Elders chuckled, "He's just lucky this time. We'll see," the middle-aged man criticised gruffly.

Federic, clenching his fists in excitement, now glanced sharply at the youngest Elder, more reluctant to linger and chose to leave the place.

"Not. Looks like that boy hasn't been able to condense his magic properly," scolded the youngest Elder again while glancing at Federic, walking away from the room.

No one responded to the Elder's curt criticism. He was engrossed in himself, provoking Federic.

While Federic was completely indifferent to those remarks, he chose to go down to sit in the general audience seats.

The tense situation returned to the stage, "Hey, be careful with your focus. Next time, the bullet that will pierce your shield is a magic bullet." Remuel coldly warned Loris. He was stronger and would humiliate the man.

But Loris chose not to respond to that. He immediately stood up in his stance again and started shouting with a serious face.

"Second shot!" shouted Loris firmly to restart the duel.

Remuel who heard that felt his heart beat violently. He began to inhale deeply. His gaze refocused on the gun that was already in place upright.

A magic that he released began to envelop his hands and the gun. This time, Remuel used magic bullets that were coated with magic. A puff of smoke condensed in the centre of the stage around Remuel's body.

"Let's see how you'll dodge this," Remuel said in a tone that Loris could relate to.

Remuel and Loris were also trying to condense her magic shield again. With the wound on his shoulder, it was already quite troublesome.

"No need to worry because the nature of magic is heavy like fire. The explosion we saw earlier can happen often." explained one of the Elders. "The distance between the stage and the audience seat field is safe. It won't disturb civilians".

He was one of the Elders commenting on Remuel and Loris' duel. The elder told the audience to stay calm through a loudspeaker connected directly to the control room, where they discussed with other Elders.

Hearing that, the worried audience could feel relieved, while Loris was indifferent and chose to pay attention to Remuel, who was condensing magic in his magic bullet.

"Ah, I see... everything will be fine, right?" murmured one of the voices from the audience, full of anxiety.

"It's a duel between life and death, after all! Whatever happens will be at the risk of the two fighters." Another spectator snapped.

Loris also focused on condensing his shield magic, which was quite heavy. But as the Elder discussed with the other Elder, solidifying the magic into a perfect shield would take longer due to the total restoration of the magic properties.

While focusing, Loris heard the Elder's loud voice, it made him a little grateful, but his focus was instantly broken when he saw Remuel quickly obtaining the results of the magic solidification.

"Damn," Loris said spontaneously.

His voice was faint, with the crowd cheering for the two fighters. He felt a little intimidated but remained calm as he watched his hand solidify the shield.

Amidst the tension, Remuel glanced at the agitated Loris and gave a small grin. He was satisfied with what he saw. The anxious look on Loris' face satisfied his ego.

"Stay there. This won't take long," Remuel muttered as he almost completely condensed his magic bullet magic.

A ball of magic began to envelop his arm and gun very quickly. And so began the smoke around them to thicken and dust to scatter.

Right at that moment, Loris' bulletproof shield was already half-formed. Loris realised that what he made would not be able to help her much, but he still tried to spread the not-yet-solid ball of magic on his bulletproof shield.

The meagre and thin timing began to tighten up at the sound of the trigger being pulled. And batts!

The sound of Remuel's magic bullet rushed with thick smoke and dust towards Loris.

Loris frowned. With great effort and little time, his right hand raised the imperfect magic shield.

An even louder boom than before was heard just as Remuel's magic bullet penetrated and shot through Loris' magic shield.

"Erghh!" Loris' suppressed groan finally came out.

A sound like shattering glass was heard, and the bullet even pushed Loris' body up to one meter.

Along with Loris, who fell on the floor with a hollow shoulder, a strong gust of wind was briefly seen on the stage

"Haa?!" a surprised voice emerged from the audience seats when seeing the effect of the magic bullet Remuel released. "This is getting tense." Another trembling voice was heard.

They were concerned about Loris, who was pushed away, but before they could say anything, the young boy stood up quickly. They realised that Remuel's shots were indeed hard but also felt that Loris' tenacity was more formidable.

Loris groaned once more with a minimal sound, and he immediately stood up on wobbly legs. His gaze is straight and sharp at Remuel. He breathed with difficulty while holding his hands.

On weak legs, Loris almost fell over, but he tried to stand upright once more and closed his eyes for a few seconds. "It's not time for me to die yet," he said with a burning heart.

Remuel grinned at first when she saw the effect of the bullet, but when she saw that Loris did not fall after standing up again, it made her glare. The young woman clenched her jaw and wrinkled her forehead. "Stubborn bastard!" she muttered angrily.

Loris opened his eyes. He looked around him. He felt many eyes looking at him pityingly. His gaze he threw to Arturo's chair, it was unclear, but he saw Arturo did not make the slightest sound as before and was frozen.

Next to Arturo was his father who was just silent and clenched his fists with a furious look. "Father? Did you see everything?" Loris spoke to himself silently.

Arturo himself could only be silent when he saw Loris holding his right hand while standing unbalanced, his mind drifting anywhere until his body could not be moved. He looked at Loris with glazed eyes, one hand squeezing the gun in his pants pocket hard. "Brother... Loris..." Arturo trembled inwardly.

Meanwhile, Federic could only restrain himself from getting angry at anyone, including the Elders.

In another room, far away from the audience seats the Elders were staring at each other with complexity. They, on one hand, could not let the duel stop because of the agreement or the duel continued by leaving Loris in a terrible condition.

Loris, who was still staring at the other side of Remuel, Loris raised his left hand. "Third shot!" he exclaimed and pointed at Remuel's face with a cold gaze.
