Chapter 8

Chapter 8

There was a lot of excitement throughout the arena, especially when Loris took the stage with his strapping body. They began whispering to each other about Loris in mockery.

They stared at each other and then openly laughed at Loris, who still did not react to their taunts, "That loser will be finished today for challenging the genius Remuel!" said the green-haired man from the audience.

But Loris chose to remain silent. He just stared intently in the direction of his steps. Loris went up to the stage and went to the organizer's table and signed his name on a duel agreement paper.

When Loris was about to sign his name, a paper was pulled from before him. He paused and looked into the committee's eyes. "Are you sure?" asked a half-white and half-red-haired committee woman with a cold gaze.

Loris was silent for a moment. He turned his head to look at his father with confidence, then turned to the committee and nodded.

The red and white-haired committee woman then returned the paper and explained the consequences of the battle. "By signing this, you realize that there is no accountability for the outcome of the fight," explained the half-red and half-white-haired woman.

While babbling, Loris began to move his deformed hand so hard that his sweat began to soak the pen he was holding. He also felt deep sweat running down his temples, "Come on!" Loris snapped at himself in a small whisper. He made sure no one heard but him.

At another table two meters away from Loris, Remuel signed the paper with a small grumble. "This is a waste of time!"

A few ago, while still in a meeting hall, Remuel had insisted on immediately carrying out the battle without a signature.

Loris, who heard that, pounded the table. With a stifled voice, he looked at everyone in the hall, "I want this fight to be carried out with normal dueling rules. A life and death duel!"

Hearing that, everyone in the hall stared at each other, including Remuel, who got goosebumps when he heard Loris' unusual tone. It was as if his eyes ignited a fire of incomparable hatred.

Now, on a dueling stage, Loris agreed to sign the dueling papers, and Remuel finally had to follow the same rules. That whoever signed would not sue anyone if one of them left the match dead.

"I will let Remuel fire three shots first. I will not count the duel if I alone avoid the shot."

Loris's loud words in a meeting hall in front of all the Federico elders still rang in Remuel's ears. His hand trembled slightly on the last sheet as he remembered Loris' aura that was different from usual.

In the middle of the time she was on the last sheet, Remuel glanced at Loris's face, which looked very serious and still had a lethal aura left. The young woman immediately saw the page of Loris's duel rules paper written with a crooked name.

Remuel wrinkled her forehead and began to stare at her paper, then gave a small grin. "What a fool," she scoffed to herself. "How can you think you'll lose to a loser who can't even hold a pen properly?".

Remuel began to put on a confident face and turned her back on her desk. She had already finished signing the duel rules paper and was waiting for Loris to finish the last paper.

A few minutes later, Loris also finished his agreement. At that moment, the table they were using was immediately pushed backstage by two messengers.

Loris and Remuel were directed to walk to opposite corners of the stage. They walked away and turned their backs to each other.

"I won't lose, of course," Remuel spoke to herself. She had already gained her confidence since finishing the autograph first from Loris.

When they reached the end of the stage, they were silent for a moment with their backs to each other. Loris clenched his hands into fists. He caught his breath and began to feel the rush of his blood flowing to the top of his head, along with the rush of magic power that he had been holding back.

Remuel, who had been relaxed, began to feel a distinct gust of wind behind her back. She turned around simultaneously as Loris and began to frown, "What is this?" Remuel muttered a little with a slightly shocked face as she looked at Loris.

Remuel became convinced that this strange gust of wind came from the aura that Loris gave off. She also secretly knew that Loris had been developing his magic power relentlessly ever since the young man became disabled.

"Damn it," Remuel muttered, she then looked at Loris' clenched hand. Her mentality seemed to be slowly defeated by the aura released by Loris.

Loris stood firmly with confidence on his stage. He looked at Remuel sharply and began to pay attention to every move made by his opponent. Loris prepared his body to dodge Remuel's attacks.

"Come on, come out..." Loris muttered to himself. He was pushing his magic power to release his bulletproof self-protection skill before the duel happened.

Loris's magic power flowed through her body profusely, but to unleash the power of bulletproof skills, all magic users needed intense time-to-time magic training. Because every skill power released, such as firing a magic weapon, requires a magic process that starts from the flow of power in the body and blood flow in the veins. From that flowing process, the user must also spread the magic in the bulletproof shield that emerges from the skill, then make the shield sturdy for attacks.

"It can only be called a bulletproof magic skill if they are sturdy and can protect themselves."

The voice of his teacher began to ring again in Loris' head.

From the knowledge he had gotten from his coach, he had been doing it all the time, but he had never achieved perfect results.

Today on the stage, with legs shaking and hands clenched hard, Loris tried to get that power flowing through his veins. He tries so hard that the muscles in his neck begin to pop and show.

Loris tried to remember well when he could still control his magic power. That was long before he became paralyzed.

"I'm starting to feel it." Loris raised his hand and stared at him clenched fist. He did feel his magic appearing, but he realized his power was not as great as he expected.

Loris, who had been counting his steps, stood on the last step. At the end of the stage, he began to look at Remuel's face, which showed no remorse. Loris felt his anger about the humiliation in the hall again. It made him rewind his memory.

Loris' memories of his suffering since paralysis and his memories of the extended family's humiliation of his father. Another memory of Loris' fantasy of armed men traveling through a hail of bullets.

"I'm ready," Loris stuttered as he recalled the most distressing memory.

It was the memory of him and his mother's accident and the trivial insult about him not being able to take care of his mother that awakened his greatest magic power. His body now shone with the light of his magic.

He then raised his head and looked at Remuel sharply. In front of him, a dozen meters away, Remuel stood in a ready position, already holding a long-barreled firearm with a slightly bent grip.

"Are you scared, Loris? Huh?" Remuel quipped in a low voice.

Loris' eyes flashed red veins, his hand that he struggled to move, with great effort, he raised it in front of his face and level with his shoulder.

Loris pointed at Remuel, "First shot!" he said loudly.

Remuel, who didn't get a response from Loris, just pursed her lips, her eyes straight in line with the long barrel of his magic firearm.

Remuel snorted when she heard Loris' loud speech with confidence. The woman immediately took a long, deep breath. She then pulled the trigger slowly, and without blinking, the shot was fired.
