"I ain't lying, you'll understand when I explain" she replied, still smiling. "I am a woman.”
“You care to explain this whole twist to me?” Niko took out a handkerchief to clean the sweat on his face, the twists and turns were already too much for him. “I used a male AI voice to speak to you over the phone." Aaliyah explained. “Oh shit” Niko stared at her, “ I guess the world is too advanced, it's all getting scary.” Aaliyah laughed. "But… Why did you use an Ai voice to speak to me though?" Niko finally let the question out. She crossed her arms and nodded toward the Winxel building. "Your father owns the AI voice company, and I wanted to show you just how realistic our technology can be. I used it on purpose to introduce you to one of the many innovations you're about to take over.” Take over? “They already want me to take over a company? Man… This is happening so fast.” Niko took a deep breath, then smiled nervously. Aaliyah turned to check the time on her wrist watch, and that's when Niko noticed that she was wearing a golden watch all the while “Damn!” He said, more amazed by how comfortable and normal it was for her, she didn't even try to make him notice the watch, unlike other people who'd try to show their riches in anyone's face every single second. “Niko, it's time for the hiring process, let's go inside.” She said, turning towards the building. “What? Hiring process?” Niko’s forehead squeezed in confusion. "I called you here because we're in the process of hiring new talent for the company," she explained, smiling. “Oh so they want to hire me?” "No ha ha…. Your father wanted you to observe how the entire recruitment process works, cos you're gonna be taking over the company soon." Niko nodded, still trying to process the information. "So, this is part of me... taking over?" he asked cautiously. Aaliyah checked her time again before saying "Exactly. But first, you need to see how things are run in this business from the inside." “Okay” Aaliyah gestured toward the entrance of Winxel, and they started walking toward the building together “There's gonna be a lot of cameras flashing at us right now. Try not to speak to them.” Aaliyah warned as she saw a crowd of journalists waiting right beside the entrance. The moment the reporters spotted Aaliyah, they surged forward, cameras flashing and microphones extended as they asked questions. "Hey, Miss Aaliyah, do you wanna tell us about this young man with you?" one journalist asked, almost falling to the ground as someone kicked his ankle “Damn it!” He cursed in anger “Watch where you're fucking going!” Another journalist rushed forward asking "Is he a member of the company? What is his name?” "Miss Aaliyah, Is the young man your boyfriend?" a third journalist asked eagerly, trying to catch Aaliyah's eye. But Aaliyah didn't mind and so did Niko. They both held their heads high, ignoring the barrage of questions, knowing that their answers would surely be used for blog content, spreading false and misleading information. “Man… the attention is too much, why does everyone wanna know me?” Niko felt overwhelmed by the flashing lights from cameras and the noise around him. “Oh finally!” He took a deep breath, now relieved as they finally entered the Winxel building, leaving the pool of journalists outside. “You like the place don't you?” Aaliyah asked, smiling as they walked forward. “Like the place? I love this place for real. I never thought I'd be here one day for anything important.” “Well you're here Niko, and no longer as a pizza delivery guy. You're here as a rising CEO.” Aaliyah knew Niko's never heard anyone speak to him like that. All his life, it was just insults, hardships and heartbreak. It felt good finally hearing someone speak to him like they believed in him. “Thank you Aaliyah” “You are welcome.” She said before pointing to a direction “Let's go this way.” Aaliyah led Niko to a waiting area where they could sit and observe. As they walked side by side down the hallway, Niko saw Vikkie and Trevor coming from a distance. “Oh shit here we go again.” Niko wasn't pleased to see them again. “What's wrong?” Aaliyah asked. “See the lady coming right there?” “The one with the big guy?” “Exactly.” “What about her?” “She's my ex-girlfriend and things don't go so well whenever we meet.” “Why did y'all break up?” “Do you want the long or short story?” “Short.” “Good. We broke up cos I'm poor and she cheated.” “correct yourself Niko. You are not poor, you were poor. It's in the past and your story's changing.” She put a friendly hand on his shoulder, shaking him a little bit. As Vikkie and Trevor got closer, Niko kept his gaze forward, trying to ignore their presence. But Vikkie wasn’t sensible enough to behave herself even in a very organized location like Winxel. She walked right to them saying "Well, well, look who decided to show up!" she sneered, her voice dripping with mockery. “You've gone as far as coming into the Winxel building, what might you be doing here?” Trevor followed up with the mockery. “Maybe he's tired of being a pizza guy so he's here to beg for a job as a janitor ha ha.” He bursted into laughter with Vikkie. Trevor noticed that Niko wasn't ready to say a word, so he decided to trigger him “Listen to me Niko, this place is way out of your league. They only hire useful people like me and Vikkie, not inexperienced church rats like you.” “Fool!” Niko clenched his fists and wanted to charge forward, but Aaliyah immediately held him back. “Be calm Niko, don't stoop to their level. You're above that.” She calmly whispered in Niko's ear. Seeing that, Vikkie shifted her attention to Aaliyah, giving her a once-over. "And who’s this?" she said with a mocking tone, looking directly into Aaliyah’s eyes. “Are you his girlfriend? Huh? Are you the unlucky girl that's decided to date this good for nothing fool?” Vikkie rolled her eyes, clearly trying to provoke a reaction. She made a face to signal an irritation within her, but deep down, she was just jealous of the sight of Aaliyah standing confidently beside Niko, especially since Aaliyah was undeniably more beautiful. Aaliyah looked at Trevor and Vikkie from head to toe then answered “Who I am doesn't matter. You guys came here looking for a job in this company, and if I were you, I wouldn't be insulting the new CEO like this.”“CEO?” Vikkie asked mockingly, “Are you referring to Niko as a CEO?” She laughed out loud, not believing it. “Maybe he's the CEO of broke people ha ha.” Trevor joined in the mockery. Vikkie moved closer to Niko saying “Hey are you maybe the chairman of Pizza guys association?” She enjoyed doing this, making Niko shift backwards. Aaliyah could see Niko struggle to hold himself, he was obviously angry and had already set a reputation for not letting things slide easily. Aaliyah knew he would strike if the annoying talks from Vikkie kept coming, so she held him by the hand saying “Let's get the fuck outta here Niko. They're gonna regret this soon.” She turned, leading him away. “Who's gonna regret? We ain't regretting nothing, and you guys better stop wasting your time, you're not gonna get a job here.” Vikkie shouted at them as they walked away. They thought Niko and Aaliyah were there in search of a job, just like them. Vikkie and Trevor exchanged glances and laughed at each othe
Trevor rose up from his seat in panic. “Why are you standing? Where the hell do you want to go?” Vikkie asked, trying to drag him back to his seat, holding the sleeve of his white shirt “Get your ass back down Trevor.”“Don't speak to me like that! I wanna go ‘nd apologise to Niko.”“Oh hell no! You ain't doing that shit! You ain't gonna disgrace me like that!”“What the hell do you mean?”“Niko is my ex and you are my man, so you can't go begging my ex for forgiveness, where's your pride?” Vikkie’s voice got louder, it was all slowly becoming a yell and the people around could notice the tension. “Listen to me Vikkie, I am a man and I take drastic measures when necessary.”“What you wanna do is not necessary.”“I have waited for a very long time for an opportunity to work in this company and it's my only hope, I can't let it slide.”“Fine! Do whatever you want. But better not mention me in your damn apology!” Vikkie let go of him angrily, squeezing up her face as she turned away to
“Well you can leave, Trevor. I don’t give a shit!” Vikkie said before slapping him at the back as he turned to leave.“Shit!” Trevor turned back to her with a red angry face “look at me Vikkie, take a close look at my face!” He said pointing at his face, breathing more heavily than before.“What now? You think I’m scared of you? Or you think I’m gonna cry cos you wanna leave?”“I’m gonna let this slide right now. But I swear to God if you dare lay a finger on me again, I’m gonna forget the fact that you’re a woman and we’re in public, I’m gonna make sure you regret it.”“What are you gonna do huh? You’re gonna beat me? You’re gonna beat a woman huh? Go ahead then, woman beater!”“Say whatever you wanna say, I don’t give a shit!” He turned back to leave, pushing away the chairs to make way out of the crowd. But Vikkie wasn’t going to stop talking now, not yet.“Well, leave now! Leave like you didn’t just tell me you loved me last night” She said at the top of her voice and the crowd we
“Somebody call the police! There’s a sniper at the rooftop!”Everyone tried to crawl to safety as the ladies started screaming in fear “please don’t shoot again.”There was silence at the rooftop for a few seconds before the deep voice came again “All you had to do was shoot a bullet right into his head and you missed.” “Don’t fucking yell at me. I was aiming for Niko.”“Well you hit the wrong man. Now let’s get the fuck outta here.”From that conversation, everyone could tell that there were two men on that roof, and they came to assasinate no one else but Niko Foster. "Whee-oo, whee-oo" the sound of police sirens quickly sorrounded the Winxel building and the snipers were still yet to get away. “Shit man, we’re baked! What the hell are we gonna do?” One of the bad guys said, looking around nervously.“There’s a ladder at the back, let’s go quickly. We can make away from there.”They left their weapons at the scene, running quickly to the only way that could be their escape route “
A man shot right before his eyes with a bullet that was meant for him, now a car exploding right behind him, almost claiming his and Aaliyah’s life. Niko was already reluctant about moving on with his new life of wealth “I just wake up one day to an alert of millions of dollars and all of a sudden, people want me dead. Is that the price I gotta pay for being rich? Then I don’t want it” he said in a low voice as he sat at the back of the Taxi, heading back home. He couldn’t get over the words of Aaliyah when she said “It’s only the beginning Niko, it’s normal to have enemies you don’t even know, people make you an enemy just because you’re rich.” They both decided to use a Taxi back home instead of calling a luxurious car from the collection of Niko’s father. There was silence for a while before Aaliyah finally voiced out “Mr Foster, your dad’s gonna be back in the country soon, he really wants to see you. He’s gone sick looking for you all these years.”“He isn’t in the country?”“H
“When I walked in and smelt the stench, I knew you'd be here. What are you doing here? We have already broken up!” Vikkie started as she walked towards Niko with an angry face.“I know we broke up. I personally called for the break up so I remember clearly.” Niko said looking directly into her eyes as she walked closer like she was coming for a stare down.“Then what are you here for?”“I’m not here for any relationship stuff, I’m here for my laptop.” Niko said, resisting the urge to smell himself.“What fucking laptop?” Vikkie turned away, pretending not to remember, but knowing fully well she’s been using the laptop every single day. In fact she created a folder in that device where she saved nude photos of herself and different other guys she chatted with on social media.“What stupid laptop did you leave in this house?” She asked again, pretending to be more confused.“The same laptop you’re gonna use to meet another man on a dating site if I don’t take it from you.”“You’re a foo
“This is got to be the most pathetic family I've ever seen” Niko spoke to himself angrily as he took out a phone to call Aaliyah. He walked out of the house, leaving them to their so-called peaceful family meal. “They call it a family meal but as soon as this new guy Orlando goes broke, they're gonna dump him and say terrible things about him.” He said to Aaliyah on the phone as their conversation got deeper. “But why did you go over to your ex’s house anyway?” She asked. “I left my laptop there while me and Vikkie was still together. It contains very important info, now I'm out of the house and I can't get a taxi to go back home. It's late and it seems all the taxis are gone.” He sounded angry, burning with thick liquid fire that could consume a whole city. “Where is Vikkie’s house? I'll come pick you.” She'd only known Niko for a short while but she understood him so easily. Niko couldn't believe it, “a good looking lady like Aaliyah isn't easily humble, considerate and ready t
"Yeah, listen up. I want to order a pizza, but don’t screw this up, alright? I don’t have time for incompetence from some broke ass pizza delivery guy.” That's the first thing Niko heard when he answered the phone, “who the hell orders pizza like that?” He sensed the arrogance from whoever was behind that thick voice over the phone. But he ignored the rudeness and asked him “Sure, sir. What can I get for you today?”“Dumbass I already said I want a large pizza. What else do you sell if not pizza?”Things like this always made Niko hate his job, he'd been working in that pizza shop for almost a year and he never got used to all the insults and harsh treatment. But he was willing to keep enduring all of it as long as it fetched him some money to take care of himself and his girlfriend Vikkie. “Bring me some pizza fool, make it pepperoni, extra cheese. And don’t be stingy with the toppings, got it? I’m paying good money, and I expect quality.” Did he really have to be this brutal? “F
