Maybe she wasn’t new though. David had been hearing a lot of rumors and theories about her, although none of them sounded as outlandish as the one his father had told him the other night. He doesn’t remember which ones had come about. However, he knows for sure that they weren’t true, as the girl was smiling at him and he remembered her smiling face. That smile had made him feel a bit better. A little less worried. A little less scared. He’d seen her smile the same way at some of his friends when they had tried to talk to him and, once again, David wondered if he should have been a bit stricter with his father, even if he was right about everything he had said, and had just been too scared to say anything to him.
