Byron stood at the front of a dirty and unkempt looking grave with a frown. The dry leaves and the dead flowers got him shaking his eyes and clenching his fist. But thankfully, he was going to change that. He smiled faintly before saying, “I'm back, Dad.”His heart broke even more as he let out those words. Don Smith, his father, had a family that only cared about the wealth, popularity and power. “Damian should be here in a minute,” He heard the group of thugs who were not too far from him discuss amongst themselves. They had been threatening him to leave but Byron had forcefully allowed himself in.Today was his father's one year anniversary and Beatrice had deliberately instructed these thugs not to allow anyone in here. And for some reasons, he believes she was aware he was surely going to visit his grave… especially since he never attended his father's funeral and only found out about his death when he was out of prison. It shows how dark her heart is.“Okay buddy…” Damian arriv
“Who the hell is this guy? How the fuck is he even doing this?”“Using the gold to rebuild a grave's tomb is the craziest thing I've ever seen.”As the guys whispered amongst themselves, Byron overheard it and turned to face them with a frown. “Did I hear you say something?” He said, his voice cold and devoid of warmth. They shook their heads immediately and bowed before Byron, “No…not at all.” They were only employed to watch over this place by the elder of the Smith family and Byron was aware of that. After taking his father's life, Beatrice had turned around to take control of the Smith clan and to keep all his wealth to herself. And even up till now, she still wanted to keep the cards in her possession… She was smart but was agreeing to betray Derek in exchange for the cards a smart move? “It's a harmless misunderstanding, young master.” Damian cried. “Don't harm us… we'd stay out of your business and act like we didn't see this at all.”Byron raised his head as he heard the wor
In the next few days, Byron was already at Gate Corporations. His identity unknown, and the actions he was going to take on the people who took the life of his father still lingered in his mind.Otherwise, the months he was away planning all this would be a waste. He had been working here for over two weeks. At first he was shocked when he was given the lowest position to work but since he was the founder, he didn't let it bother him.At 4pm that evening, Byron checked the goods received today and packed up to finish work for the day.Since he was a paid employee, he dressed as casually as the rest in order not to get suspected or anything.“Good day, director Drake!”“Greetings director Drake!”Byron could hear the polite greetings from other staff right from where he was. Then suddenly, his door pushed open and a bald fat man in his late forties walked in.“Are you free?” The man asked almost immediately as he walked. Causing other employees to murmur with envy. Even Director Drake
“Let's talk business. You may have your seat.” Lady Bianca said with a rather cold voice.“Waiter!” Drake raised his hand.“I'm not here for food, Mr. Drake. It's either we go straight to the point or this is canceled. Start talking… I wanna know when you'd be supplying the Captain store. How do you intend to go about the whole process?”Drake took a deep breath. That was the point… That was the main reason he had come here. He was an old man but the lady's tone made him uneasy. He didn't expect this to go smoothly but he also didn't expect this to go this hard as well. She wasn't even talking about a negotiation. Sensing this was going to be a difficult one, Drake shifted his gaze to Byron who was standing behind him. This is the particular time where Byron comes in. He needed that help now. If he had the knowledge on how to handle this and everybody gets what they want in the end, he wouldn't have let Byron in on this anyway.Lady Bianca cocked a brow and followed the line of Drak
Byron narrowed his eyes as Lady Bianca raised her head to look at him again. She had this look like she just realized something.Suddenly, she brought something out of her bag. Byron could see that she was staring at a picture but he couldn't see who was in the picture. She creases her brows, looking up at Byron then looking back at the picture as if trying to spot the resemblance.“Are you by any chance Byron Smith? As in, son of the late Don Smith?” Bianca took a closer look, her face etched with an expression Byron couldn't read.“I asked a question first.” He said his voice was firm. Last he remembered, he was meeting lady Bianca for the first time and Drake didn't make mention of his name during this meeting to her. At least not one he was aware of.Even Drake calls him manager, rather than ‘Byron’ especially because he had a new identity and would love to keep it that way till he makes everyone pay!Byron's eyes darted at Drake who lowered his head, then to Maggie then to Lady
Drake kept mute. He didn't know what to say to Byron. He really had no idea why Lady Bianca wanted him. All he knew was that she was in search of the man in that picture. At first, he just wanted to give it a trial as he wasn't sure the manager and Byron were the same person. Especially since the man in the photo had long shoulder length hair with no beards at all, while the manager behind him was bald with full beards. Even his brows were almost invisible…. Like he shaved almost everything, leaving just a little. He was the complete opposite of the man in the picture so he wasn't sure. But since Lady Bianca promised to get Derek to promote him and also a cheque to do it, he was more than willing.“Here–” Bianca handed him a cheque, and since Byron was standing behind him, he could see the amount written boldly in the cheque. 10.1 million dollars. Byron shook his head one more time with a dry smile. Drake was the Judas he never seemed to notice.Cunning Fox!“That's for a clean job.
“The car keys,” Byron said and walked back to the driver's seat. Sara could see some money, brown envelopes and of course, a gun in the briefcase.“Where is the car taking us to?” She asked.Byron sighed, “This car was arranged for me by whosoever, I don't wanna believe it just yet.” He hoped. “Lady Bianca was supposed to take me in this car to hand over to someone…. There's an address in her phone, so I guess we'd just get there before she does.” He said, started the car then they zoomed off. After about a 50 minute drive, Sarah scanned the area and whispered, “I don't think this address is an apartment, house or anything close to it… it's an airport.” Sarah announced as the car stopped.Just then, they heard a phone ringing. “Is that yours?” Sara asked.Byron shook his head, “No, that's not my ringtone. I think it's coming from the briefcase.” He said and they both walked out of the car.“It's a private number. Do you think they could track our current location with this?” She aske
“Excuse me… what are you doing here?” The man asked, raising his both hands as he saw the gun Byron pointed at him. “Don’t ask questions, just do as I've said and no one gets hurt.” Byron said and moved closer to the man. “I need you to call up to the tower with a message for H629Jk.” Meanwhile, on air, the pilot heard his radio from the tower. “H629Jk, this is an operative reporting from your tower, we just got word from another craft that your plane should be land immediately.” After listening to it, the assistant pilot looked around as if not understanding what he was hearing, they rarely had an immediate landing, then he placed his walkie-talkie close to his mouth, “Tower clear across the board here, am really good for landing?” As the pilot spoke, Byron and the man could hear from the radio. “Tell them they need to land at the south end, following emergency protocols.” Byron tilted his head, his gun still pointed at the man who had worry etched on his face. He shook his he
