Byron wakes up with no idea of what happened after he dropped the drink Maggi had given him last night.
All he could remember was her trying to apologize before everything went blank. In the CEO's office at Mega Corporation, Carol's eyes widened in shock as she opened the email that was sent to her. Slowly, she raised her head at Byron who was busy going through the contracts he was supposed to sign for a new project. “Something wrong?” Byron asked, his aura chilling and his face still glaring at the papers in his hands. Carol gulped then reluctantly turned her phone for him to see. Byron raised his head and the files in his hands almost dropped out of shock. What?! It was a video of him and a woman in bed! He clenched his fist then stretched his hands to collect the phone for a close view. He narrowed his eyes and tried to zoom in but the woman was blurred out. “How did you get this, Carol?” He asked, his brows creased. “From a close associate, sir. The video is on every blog, sir.” Carol said, bowing slightly. Then Byron slowly tried to recall how the fuck he got recorded without his knowledge. He zoomed in again and noticed the sheets he was lying on in the video. Then Byron chuckled. He played the video ones more and laughed even harder. “It’s Maggi.” He muttered. Byron realized who it was that had a hand in this shit. It's no wonder he woke up with a slight headache. She must have put something in his drink. He clapped with a wry smile. Maggi was surely a Corny snake, it's no wonder she was extra nice and kind when he arrived that night. He stood up with a frown. “Take that video down. When I mean down; I mean on every blog and site.” He said, dismissing her. The thought of that video circulating ate him raw. “Consider it done, sir.” Carol said, bowing her head before leaving. Byron took his phone furiously then dialed Maggi's number and she picked at the third attempt. “What does the naive and foolish sugar boy want this time?” Maggi said mockingly. Byron clenched his fist so tightly that there was a cracking sound from his joints. “What is the meaning of that video you made?!” “Shocked to see your dirty ass trending on blogs? Hahaha!” Byron gritted his teeth, “How dare you pull such a stunt? Take it down or I will…” “Or what?!” Maggi cut him short. “You can't do more than a lifeless dog! And listen, I'm just getting started.” Maggi didn't back down. “Be civil with your choice of words, Take that video DOWN.” “And who's gonna make me?!” She scoffed, “I’d love to see you try..” Maggi didn't wait for his response as she ended the call immediately. Byron checked and noticed she had hung up, then there was a dark frown on Byron's face as he bit his lower lip, trying to suppress his anger. He stood from his seat, grabbed his jacket and was about to leave when his eyes caught sight of a particular document. ‘Interesting.’ He thought. It was the latest financial report Carol had submitted this morning. At the top of the document was boldly written, [CORPORATE DEBT - Armstrong Group] He glared at the file one after the other with a shocked expression. “Four hundred million dollars?” He muttered under his breath. Byron found out that the Armstrong family's company was owing his company a huge debt. Then he suddenly remembered the video Maggi made. Glaring at the file, he saw that they were supposed to pay up two months ago but they are yet to. He sat back and leaned into his seat, with his eyes glued to the documents. Without hesitating, he tells Carol to give them an impromptu pay up day. He gave them 3 days max to pay up or lose their companies and assets as the money with them was too huge. The Armstrongs got the letter and couldn't help but panic. “What do we do, granny?” Liam asked, passing the letter to Maggi who was as shocked as the rest of them. He twitched his lips, wondering what could have gone wrong. Was this because of what happened the other day? Losing their properties was not an option. Armstrong Group wasn't doing good and losing it would cost them their source of livelihood. Old lady Jane sighed. Three days is too short! “Listen, the date has to be extended and we can only do that if we get to talk to the person in charge.” Jane stated, staring at them one after the other. She knew they were to pay up two months ago but the company was already doing badly. “We need this and we need it fast. Who is willing to…” Before she could even finish Liam quickly avoided her gaze and started feeling uneasy. He had been banned from going into the mega Corporation by Byron's sugar mummy. He can't afford to show himself there. Not after the embarrassment that son of a bitch, Byron caused him. “Liam?” Samantha called, he was more of the business man in the family. “I was banned, Samantha. Remember?” He replied curtly. The old lady narrowed her eyes at him, “Your friend, Leo works there, let's get him to help extend the date.” Liam swallowed hard, reluctantly shifting his gaze to Jane, “Not anymore, granny. That useless Byron had cost him his job the day I went to sign the bid.” “Oh yeah… the incident with his so-called sugar mummy?” Liala, his cousin added. They suddenly remembered the incident that led to Liam not signing the contract three days ago. Wait, Byron? Didn't Liam say the assistant is Byron's sugar mummy? Samantha took the letter from Maggi, glared at it then turned to granny, “Since the assistant of Mega Corporation is Byron's sugar mummy… why don't we get him to help talk to her?” Samantha's words stirred up a little discussion among the people. “Yes, Samantha's right!” “His sugar mummy might help extend the date.” “That smug bastard. What if he doesn't agree?” “He will,’’ Grandma Jane stated as a matter of fact. “He owes us that much.” Then the rest of the family nodded in response, but that suggestion didn't sit well with Maggi… not after the video she made of him. Without hesitating, Grandma Jane instructed one of them to invite Byron over… the bastard had no choice… he had to help them out. Byron got their message and soon, he arrived at the Armstrong's mansion. Then the old lady went ahead to tell him why they invited him. “Sugar mummy?” Byron couldn't help but laugh. Did they really think his assistant was his sugar mummy? Interesting. The entire family was seated, staring at Byron who sat with his legs crossed. “Yes, I saw you two together, or are you trying to deny the fact that she's your sugar mummy?” Liam inquired with disgust written all over him. But Byron didn't feel the need to respond to a wife stealer. Samantha rolled her eyes, “Sugar mummy or not. We know you're close to Miss Carol, who happens to be the executive assistant to the president of Mega Corporation… which is why we invited you.” She said feeling irritated even if she knew they were probably at his mercy, according to old lady Jane. “We are willing to compensate you, Byron. We just want the date extended.” Maggi added, avoiding eye contact with him, knowing she had offended him recently. “Not a chance!” Byron's cold voice sounded extremely harsh. They weren't begging properly. “You all seemed forced… are your mouths that heavy to beg?” Byron asked with a slight chuckle. Hearing this, Liam laughed, “The nerve! Do you think you're our last hope of getting the date extended?” “Am I not?” Byron shot back, matching the same energy! “Enough,” Old lady Jane hushed Liam. Insulting Byron when it seems he's probably their only hope of getting their due date extended wasn't what they needed. Samantha and Liam aren't playing their part right. Jane cleared her throat, shifting her gaze to Byron. “Like Maggi said: We are willing to compensate you if you help us out.” Byron tilted his head with a stern look, “I will help you… but you can keep your compensation… I don't need it.” The whole family turned to each other with amusement in their eyes. “But you all will have to abide by my rules.” Byron said, not taking his eyes off Maggi. “Rules?” Maggi, Liam and the rest chorused. This bastard must really think so highly of himself. “Yes! I'm willing to talk to Miss Carol but on one condition.” Byron said, leaning into his seat. “Which is…?” The old lady asked. “You all have to go on your knees and beg me…” “Beg you?” Their jaws dropped as they stared blanking at Byron. Everyone gasped in shock. Was this the same naive, foolish and submissive Byron they all knew? Ignoring their expressions, he said, “You heard me. Mind you, you all are not just going to beg me, you are going to organize an apology conference dedicated to me. And you're going to do that on your knees.”Shell-shocked, everyone stared at Byron, their mouths wide open with a complicated expression. Liam's eyes darkened. An apology conference? He must be out of his goddamn mind to give them such conditions. How can a poor loser who once lived by the Armstrong family's grace say such a thing? Old lady Jane bit her lower lip, staring bitterly at Byron who simply ignored the look on her face. While Liam was trying to control the urge of slapping sense into the fool's head. He stood from his seat and pointed his index finger at Byron, “Are you mad?! Or you're just out of your mind? How dare you give us such conditions? Do we look like beggars to you?” Liam roared, his voice sharp. “There’s no way in hell, I and my family are going to kneel before a disgusting lowlife dog like you!” Byron ignored him, adjusting his tie with a calm expression, “My rules; invite all the press and different reporters to the event. Lastly, it has to be tomorrow.” Byron said, rubbing his palms. He e
First a stupid script, now platinum Media? Liam dropped the script and narrowed his eyes at Byron like he was going to uproot his head.He brought his phone out and quickly texted a particular number before walking towards Byron… Since Platinum Media was here, instead of his family getting humiliated… Why don't he just spoil the fun? He clenched his fist and walked up to Byron, ignoring the camera's flash light that was almost blinding him as he approached Byron's seat. Byron raised his head as Liam got close, smiled and lowered himself to whisper something to him, “You are nobody, and since you asked for this, then be my guest.” Just as Byron was about to talk, Liam stormed out of the hall. Within a blink of an eye, there was a sudden black out which left everyone extremely speechless. The Armstrongs were stunned, so were the guests and there was so much noise. They couldn't see each other as the hall was as dark as a cave.Byron frowned. This wasn't the agreement. He reached fo
Hahaha! Platinum Media was on live stream and was also busy taking pictures as the scene unfolds. Everyone had their jaws slack and were staring at Byron with total shock. Even Derek couldn't believe his eyes. Did Byron just humiliate his men by bitting and giving them a card to sort out the medical expenses?wtf! He looked down at Byron sitting on his men's head then whispered into Liam's ear, “You didn't tell me my men were here to fight a wrestler.” Liam was actually lost for words as his gaze was fixed on Byron. Byron had been living with them for years but he had never seen this side of him. Never had he even imagined Byron would be so strong to take down eight hefty men in less than five minutes. “Neither did i.” Liam replied still in shock.Derek knew who Byron was. He was the ex-husband to the woman he loves and he had waited forever for him to finally divorce his beautiful flower.Seeing the useless animal sitting on his men's head fueled his anger. “Hey! Get off my men
Byron arrived at his father's house the next day. He heard what happened to his mum when he got out of jail and hasn't had enough time to have a proper discussion with him.He sat at the chair opposite his father, Don Smith as he kept tapping his foot on the floor. Since he got back, no one was saying a thing about his mother's death not even his father. There was definitely something fishy and he needed to find out. “Dad, I really want to know the truth and nothing but the truth. What are the circumstances behind my mum's death. Why was I separated from her when I was young? What are the things that I'm supposed to know that I don't know yet?”Byron asked as Beatrice, his step mother dropped a cup of coffee for his father then gave Byron a dirty look before exiting the living room.He had to admit, he doesn't feel secure whenever Beatrice was around but he just couldn't explain why. Don sipped his coffee and sighed as if contemplating on what to say. “Lets wait till the night of
Lady Jane grabbed the TV remote from the table and pressed the power button, switching it off as all what transpired at the conference hall was all over the news.Platinum Media sure didn't come to play. She twitched her lips, wondering who on earth invited them… the part where Liam and the rest knelt down wasn't excluded. Even the stunt that mother fucker, Byron pulled with the son of her potential in-laws was trending.Just then, Liala dropped the newspaper on the table for everyone to see. “Last night's event. It's on the front page.”*THE ARMSTRONGS KNEELING AT A CONFERENCE HALL* was boldly written on the front page. This was a huge mess to the company's reputation especially since they had a few hours to pay up their debts with Mega Corporation. Lady Jane glared at the newspaper with anger and so did the rest. On the other hand, Maggi paced back and forth not too far from them, her eyes fixed at the entrance door. She couldn't help but worry, Liam wasn't back yet and there i
Then it dawned on him that Derek must have sent assassins to him. He took cover at the old car which was parked in front of the gate. In less than 2 minutes, nine different cars stopped at the front of his gate. The door to the cars started opening one after the other. Different men dressed in an all black outfit walked out with different guns. They filled Byron's gate as if shielding Byron from any attack. They raised their fires and shot back at the direction the bullets were coming from. The gunshots from the other end stopped then an elderly man with white hair, dressed in a suit walked out of the first car. Just then, another set of cars arrived at the front of the men dressed in all black.A Lucas walked out and furiously walked towards the elderly man with a gun in his hands. “How dare you shield my prey?!” Both men stood opposite each other with their different men standing right behind them.“No, how dare you, Lucas Stones.” The elderly man thundered, staring daggers at
After exiting the estate, Byron looked up at Blake. “Thanks for earlier but… how did you find me.. you said you heard I was in danger? By who?” Blake was the owner of the place and Byron was just a customer who occupied one of the rooms, so how was he informed that Lucas was going to come?Blake waved his hands, “The good thing is that you're alive and unharmed. But listen, you need to be careful. A man as powerful as you shouldn't be walking without bodyguards…”‘Powerful as I am?’ Byron thought. He paused, staring at Blake as he spoke. The old man seems to know who he was.The man sighed and continued, “Am sure you know wealth and power comes with a lot of enemies even in your circle?” What? Byron feels the man knows something that he doesn't... but how? He's yet to reveal whose son he was but yet, Blake was speaking in the parable he understood.Byron nodded as the man kept explaining things to him until he arrived at his father's gate. Blake had advised him to be inaccessible. St
Byron ordered a ride and as soon as the driver arrived, he got in and they left. Today he was going to get himself a car and some designer suits for his inauguration ceremony which is happening later tonight. Still on the ride, Zack, the driver noticed Byron was nodding his head as if enjoying the music. He looked at the rearview mirror and said, “Seems you're enjoying the music, sir.” “You can say that again.” Byron replied, almost singing along.Zack smiled slightly, “Then you must be an Eminem fan?” He asked, increasing the volume of music. This got Byron smiling real good.He had wanted to tell the man to increase the volume but he just wanted him to do it on his own free will. “A true fan all day everyday!” Byron laughed, raising his hands defensively, making the man laugh pretty hard. The driver really enjoyed his customer and so did Byron. At least he wasn't talking down on him. Byron had rarely had an encounter with a stranger that isn't scared to talk to him because of his
