Byron was about to go to bed that night in the rented condo he was living in when his phone suddenly rang. He glanced at the caller ID and it was none other than Maggi.
He frowned but he picked up the call, wondering why she would be calling him at this time of the night.“What do you want?” Byron said coldly from his end of the phone.“Byron…” Maggi let his name roll off her tongue in a seductive and coquettish tone.It was a trick she had honed over the years to manipulate him. She knew he couldn’t resist her whenever she spoke in that manner and she was right.Even though Byron was mad at her and wanted nothing to do with her, hearing her speak in that matter softened his tone, after all, she was a woman he had been in love with for years.“I asked you a question Maggi, what do you want?”“I know what I did is very despicable to say the least, and you have every right to be mad at me and never want to talk to me again but this is not about me, it’s about Ava, she misses you. She’s been asking for her daddy,” Maggi said in a soft and remorseful tone even though her true self was far from it.She knew how much Byron loved Ava and that he was willing to do anything for her and she was counting on that to get to Byron.“Well then tell her the truth. Tell her who her real father is.” Byron replied in a cold tone but deep down he felt a pang of guilt and pain in his heart.Even if Ava was not his blood, he had to admit that even now, he still loves her as much as he did before he found out the truth.“Don’t say such things, Byron. She’s a little child. How do you expect her to understand that her uncle is suddenly her father? I am a sinner and I know I can never obtain your forgiveness but do you really want to punish the little girl for the sins of her parents? Don’t you have a heart anymore?” Maggie replied, faking a sob.Byron heaved a deep sigh. Did he really want to deprive the poor child of the only father she has ever known because of her parents?“I don’t know what you want me to say M-”“Ava, come say hi to daddy. He’s on the phone,” Maggi’s voice came, cutting Byron off.She muted the call on her own end, and quickly whispered to Ava, “Make it look real baby, okay?” She said then Ava nodded and spoke into the phone.“Daddy I miss you. When are you coming home?” Little Ava’s voice sounded in Byron’s ear. The concern and worry in her voice were palpable and Byron instantly felt a wave of sadness wash over him.“Soon baby, I’m coming home soon,” Byron replied with a broken heart. While Ava was at it, Maggi was whispering and demonstrating, telling her what to say next.Ava heard the next word, and quickly asked, “When is soon daddy? Nobody gives me a piggyback ride anymore,” Ava replied, breaking into tears and Byron struggled to hold back the tears that were stinging his eyes. Then Maggi smiled and gave little Ava a thumbs up sign. She didn't know her daughter missed Byron this much, her tears were real.‘Wonderful’ Maggi thought with a wicked smile.Byron couldn’t do this to her. If Ava still wanted him in her life and Maggi was okay with it, he would remain in her life as a distant father figure but for now, he’ll just be the daddy that the little girl knows until she is old enough to be told the truth.“Daddy will see you tomorrow then Princess. Give your mommy the phone,” Byron replied.“Yay!!!!! When you’re coming buy me ice cream, donuts and candy,” Ava chirped excitedly before handing the phone to her mother.“Will tomorrow work?” Byron asked coldly.“It’s perfect. Thank you so much,” Maggi replied in a patronizing tone.“Save the pretense, Maggi. I’ll drop by the house tomorrow.”“No, not the house. I’ll text you an address. Liam will be furious if he finds out. I hope you understand,” Maggi replied.“Whatever,” Byron retorted, ending the call before the annoyance he felt for the child’s father made him change his plans of spending some time with her.The next morning, Byron informed his assistant that he wouldn’t be coming to work that day because of some engagements. He got everything Ava asked for and even more gifts as he prepared to spend the day with her.He reached the address that Maggi sent to him. It was an apartment in the middle-class apartment buildings in their city. In the past, Byron would have considered being at this kind of place luxury but compared to what he had seen and been experiencing for the past couple of days, it was nothing.“Where’s Ava?” Byron asked Maggi when he got inside the apartment. It was a single and living room apartment, so Byron could see the adjoining bedroom with no sign of Ava in it.“One of the maids just took her out. Ava got impatient for ice cream, you know how she can be,” Maggi lied. She never had any intention of letting Byron ever see her child.Byron nodded, his eyes darting to every corner of the house but on the woman in front of him and it was for two reasons. One, he couldn’t stand the sight of her, and two, the sight of her right now was devilishly tempting.Maggi was wearing a mini bodycon dress that hugged her tightly like a second skin, doing nothing to hide her incredibly curvy figure. The texture of the material was so light that the seductive prints of her nipples were almost poking out of the dress and to make matters worse, she sat with her legs apart causing the already short dress to run further up her thighs, giving Byron a good view of her beautiful and pink rosebud because she wasn’t even wearing any panties.“Do you want something to drink?” Maggi asked with a hint of mischief in her eyes. She could tell her seduction was working on Byron as his eyes would occasionally dart at her and then dart away.“Just water, thanks,” Byron replied, glancing at her seductive body as she stood up.Maggi disappeared into the kitchen and returned with a glass of water that she had spiked with an aphrodisiac and a sleeping pill. Byron was too naive to think anything of it and he drank the water, gulping it down. Before long, the effects of the drug started to take root and Byron could feel himself harden unnecessarily in his pants and at the same time feel sleepy. In a few seconds, he dozed off with a hard-on then Maggi took off his pants before setting her stuff to get to work.Byron wakes up with no idea of what happened after he dropped the drink Maggi had given him last night. All he could remember was her trying to apologize before everything went blank. In the CEO's office at Mega Corporation, Carol's eyes widened in shock as she opened the email that was sent to her. Slowly, she raised her head at Byron who was busy going through the contracts he was supposed to sign for a new project. “Something wrong?” Byron asked, his aura chilling and his face still glaring at the papers in his hands. Carol gulped then reluctantly turned her phone for him to see. Byron raised his head and the files in his hands almost dropped out of shock. What?! It was a video of him and a woman in bed! He clenched his fist then stretched his hands to collect the phone for a close view. He narrowed his eyes and tried to zoom in but the woman was blurred out. “How did you get this, Carol?” He asked, his brows creased. “From a close associate, sir. The video is on
Shell-shocked, everyone stared at Byron, their mouths wide open with a complicated expression. Liam's eyes darkened. An apology conference? He must be out of his goddamn mind to give them such conditions. How can a poor loser who once lived by the Armstrong family's grace say such a thing? Old lady Jane bit her lower lip, staring bitterly at Byron who simply ignored the look on her face. While Liam was trying to control the urge of slapping sense into the fool's head. He stood from his seat and pointed his index finger at Byron, “Are you mad?! Or you're just out of your mind? How dare you give us such conditions? Do we look like beggars to you?” Liam roared, his voice sharp. “There’s no way in hell, I and my family are going to kneel before a disgusting lowlife dog like you!” Byron ignored him, adjusting his tie with a calm expression, “My rules; invite all the press and different reporters to the event. Lastly, it has to be tomorrow.” Byron said, rubbing his palms. He e
First a stupid script, now platinum Media? Liam dropped the script and narrowed his eyes at Byron like he was going to uproot his head.He brought his phone out and quickly texted a particular number before walking towards Byron… Since Platinum Media was here, instead of his family getting humiliated… Why don't he just spoil the fun? He clenched his fist and walked up to Byron, ignoring the camera's flash light that was almost blinding him as he approached Byron's seat. Byron raised his head as Liam got close, smiled and lowered himself to whisper something to him, “You are nobody, and since you asked for this, then be my guest.” Just as Byron was about to talk, Liam stormed out of the hall. Within a blink of an eye, there was a sudden black out which left everyone extremely speechless. The Armstrongs were stunned, so were the guests and there was so much noise. They couldn't see each other as the hall was as dark as a cave.Byron frowned. This wasn't the agreement. He reached fo
Hahaha! Platinum Media was on live stream and was also busy taking pictures as the scene unfolds. Everyone had their jaws slack and were staring at Byron with total shock. Even Derek couldn't believe his eyes. Did Byron just humiliate his men by bitting and giving them a card to sort out the medical expenses?wtf! He looked down at Byron sitting on his men's head then whispered into Liam's ear, “You didn't tell me my men were here to fight a wrestler.” Liam was actually lost for words as his gaze was fixed on Byron. Byron had been living with them for years but he had never seen this side of him. Never had he even imagined Byron would be so strong to take down eight hefty men in less than five minutes. “Neither did i.” Liam replied still in shock.Derek knew who Byron was. He was the ex-husband to the woman he loves and he had waited forever for him to finally divorce his beautiful flower.Seeing the useless animal sitting on his men's head fueled his anger. “Hey! Get off my men
Byron arrived at his father's house the next day. He heard what happened to his mum when he got out of jail and hasn't had enough time to have a proper discussion with him.He sat at the chair opposite his father, Don Smith as he kept tapping his foot on the floor. Since he got back, no one was saying a thing about his mother's death not even his father. There was definitely something fishy and he needed to find out. “Dad, I really want to know the truth and nothing but the truth. What are the circumstances behind my mum's death. Why was I separated from her when I was young? What are the things that I'm supposed to know that I don't know yet?”Byron asked as Beatrice, his step mother dropped a cup of coffee for his father then gave Byron a dirty look before exiting the living room.He had to admit, he doesn't feel secure whenever Beatrice was around but he just couldn't explain why. Don sipped his coffee and sighed as if contemplating on what to say. “Lets wait till the night of
Lady Jane grabbed the TV remote from the table and pressed the power button, switching it off as all what transpired at the conference hall was all over the news.Platinum Media sure didn't come to play. She twitched her lips, wondering who on earth invited them… the part where Liam and the rest knelt down wasn't excluded. Even the stunt that mother fucker, Byron pulled with the son of her potential in-laws was trending.Just then, Liala dropped the newspaper on the table for everyone to see. “Last night's event. It's on the front page.”*THE ARMSTRONGS KNEELING AT A CONFERENCE HALL* was boldly written on the front page. This was a huge mess to the company's reputation especially since they had a few hours to pay up their debts with Mega Corporation. Lady Jane glared at the newspaper with anger and so did the rest. On the other hand, Maggi paced back and forth not too far from them, her eyes fixed at the entrance door. She couldn't help but worry, Liam wasn't back yet and there i
Then it dawned on him that Derek must have sent assassins to him. He took cover at the old car which was parked in front of the gate. In less than 2 minutes, nine different cars stopped at the front of his gate. The door to the cars started opening one after the other. Different men dressed in an all black outfit walked out with different guns. They filled Byron's gate as if shielding Byron from any attack. They raised their fires and shot back at the direction the bullets were coming from. The gunshots from the other end stopped then an elderly man with white hair, dressed in a suit walked out of the first car. Just then, another set of cars arrived at the front of the men dressed in all black.A Lucas walked out and furiously walked towards the elderly man with a gun in his hands. “How dare you shield my prey?!” Both men stood opposite each other with their different men standing right behind them.“No, how dare you, Lucas Stones.” The elderly man thundered, staring daggers at
After exiting the estate, Byron looked up at Blake. “Thanks for earlier but… how did you find me.. you said you heard I was in danger? By who?” Blake was the owner of the place and Byron was just a customer who occupied one of the rooms, so how was he informed that Lucas was going to come?Blake waved his hands, “The good thing is that you're alive and unharmed. But listen, you need to be careful. A man as powerful as you shouldn't be walking without bodyguards…”‘Powerful as I am?’ Byron thought. He paused, staring at Blake as he spoke. The old man seems to know who he was.The man sighed and continued, “Am sure you know wealth and power comes with a lot of enemies even in your circle?” What? Byron feels the man knows something that he doesn't... but how? He's yet to reveal whose son he was but yet, Blake was speaking in the parable he understood.Byron nodded as the man kept explaining things to him until he arrived at his father's gate. Blake had advised him to be inaccessible. St
