SURPRISE, SURPRISE!

Chapter 2

Byron wasted no time in going home to his wife and daughter. He was given a card by his father to call if he needed anything and the men offered to accompany him, calling him young master but he refused.

He had missed Maggi so much.

He was tempted to call and tell her about his family and the wealth he had acquired even though he didn’t fully understand it yet. But then, he shook his head.

No one knew he was coming back, and thinking of it, he thought it was best to leave it that way.

How about a little surprise?

He wore a casual bargained shirt and worn-out pants as he got into a cab and instructed his bodyguards not to follow him.

Byron was the missing heir of the trillion-dollar conglomerate chairman, Mr. Don Smith. But he went missing after an attack that claimed his mother's life. Then he met Lucas Armstrong who saved and took him in. Byron made some money, he decided to compensate the late Lucas by giving him some money which he used to start one of the biggest companies in Emerald Hill.

Byron had tried looking for his family all to no avail in the new city he was taken to. He didn’t even know who he was. The only lead he had was his first name, Smith but then, he knew so many Smiths that he just gave up finding his real family. He had forgotten about them and had no idea he would reunite with them again.

“We are here sir.” The driver snapped Byron out of his thoughts.

He looked around with puzzlement, “Are you sure we are in the right place?” He asked as he paid the man who nodded in response.

It was after his release that he learned that the Armstrongs had a new residence but he wasn’t expecting the marvelous sight before him. He wondered how rich his wife must have gotten after all these years. The area and building were screaming luxury!

He got down and walked up to the gate. He smiled brightly as he saw Andrew, one of Armstrong's old security guards who he was fond of back at the other mansion.

Andrew hugged and welcomed him inside but the rest just hissed. The old man was pleased to see him but swallowed his words and told Byron that Maggi and two others were the only ones at home. Old lady Jane and Samantha had gone out.

Byron nodded and walked into the mansion with excitement. As long as Maggi was at home, he was happy.

He asked the maids and they pointed, saying Maggi's room was the first room upstairs.

Ava saw Byron and ran into his arms with tears in her eyes.

He didn't notice the tears in her eyes as she jumped into his hands. She was all grown.

But then, he frowned. He hates it when his little princess cries.

He carried her up and wiped her tears.

Why was his daughter crying? He asked her as he took the stairs up to Maggi's room.

“Daddy, help mummy, she's crying again. She has been crying since.” Ava cried and her cheeks became red.

Help mummy? Why would Maggi be crying?

“Shhh… it's okay baby… why would mummy be crying?” He comforted her as he approached Maggi's door.

“Daddy, Uncle Liam is bad,” She raised her head at him as tears flowed freely down her cheeks. “Whenever he goes into mommy's room, I hear her crying.”

She continued, “Mummy cries and begs him never to stop.”

Byron tilted his head, trying to understand what she was trying to say as he got to the door. Then and there, he heard what Ava was saying.

His body shivered but he tried to remain composed. He gently dropped her and said, “Go to your room, princess. Daddy bought so much, I'd be bring them there when I'm done, okay?”

She wiped her tears, nodded and left him standing at the door with a heavy heart.

He took a deep breath, hoping his hunch was wrong and that he must be hearing things.

He gently opened the door and was frozen to the spot.

His breath stopped as he saw Maggi arching her ass and Liam's rod going in and out of her with pleasure.

“Fuck! Liam, Mmmm… Oh yes! Like that, DON'T STOP…” Maggi clutched her hands to the sheets as she moaned softly.

His brain buzzed and his throat suddenly went dry. He felt like a carpet was pulled out from beneath his feet as he reached for something to hold unto before he collapse from what he was seeing.

He felt his whole world stopped!

Don't stop? That was the word Ava was saying. How dare they!

What the fuck! He never thought his wife would cheat, especially with her own brother, the reason he went to jail for three years!

“I’m gonna pop!” Liam screamed in ecstasy.

They were so engrossed in their dirty act that they didn't even notice his presence.

Their moans almost killed him. He felt so betrayed and bitter.

He lunged at Liam as he came undone inside Maggi, throwing him a heavy punch that sent Liam to the floor.

In the living room of the Armstrong family, Grandma Jane, Samantha, Maggi, and the rest were all seated as Liam kept berating Byron for storming into the room while he was having his fun.

“You worthless piece of trash! I see prison life has messed with your brain! What makes you think Maggi was ever yours?!” Liam said vehemently.

Byron clenched his fist bitterly, “I’m her husband.”

Hearing those words, Maggi stood and threw her saliva on Byron's face. “It’s obvious poverty still hasn't let you be. Stop acting like a fool! I'm no wife to an Ex-convict!”

Ex-convict?

Byron chuckled wryly as he wiped her saliva off his face. He just caught her in the act and she wasn't even trying to apologize.

“Ex-convict? Is this some kind of a welcome-back joke?” Byron smiled bitterly. “An Ex-convict? Is that what I am to you?”

“Of course! Is that not what you are? Don't tell me you escaped prison! For all we know, it's not 4 years yet!” Samantha retorted harshly.

They all took turns insulting him while the rest of the family watched, laughed, and murmured among themselves.

“Mother, does it mean you see nothing wrong with two siblings having an affair with each other?” Byron's voice came out hoarse, his tone a mix of pain, bitterness, and disbelief.

How come no one is shocked about this?

Grandma Jane was about to talk when Samantha stood from her seat. “Will you shut the fuck up! How many times have I warned you never to call me your mother? The fact that you were fortunate to get married to my daughter doesn't mean I gave birth to a fool like you!” She roared. "And who said Liam and Maggi were related? Foolish man!” Samantha's voice came as cold as ice.

Say that again? Byron's mouth fell wide open.

They aren't related?

He went to jail for someone who isn't even related to his wife?!

How come no one ever said anything to him?

“Enough alright!” Grandma said and the room immediately fell silent.

Then she turned to Byron who looked like he was going to pass out soon, “Poverty has really turned you inside out. It seems you're the only one who doesn't know my granddaughter is an Armstrong by adoption not birth, don't make a big deal out of what you saw. That being said–” She continued, turning to Maggi.

“–I don't want this to hinder your marriage with the son of Global Oak group. Remember we need that contract.”

Maggi nodded after looking at Byron from head to toe.

Byron chuckled wryly.

Is Grandma Jane joking?

Does it mean that she saw nothing wrong in Maggi having an affair with Liam even if they weren't related, as long as she gets married to another man to secure a contract?

‘This is ridiculous!’ Byron thought. Did they have to be so loud in their dirty act that his little daughter thought her mother was crying when in reality she was busy moaning shamelessly?

Just as he turned to Maggi, she threw a few papers at his face, almost blinding him with it.

“It's about time! I have been dying to do that for years. There. my signature is already there.” She said as Byron bent over to pick up the papers. “All that's remaining is yours. Sign it and we can call it a day or should I say, MARRIAGE!”
