I'M THE BOSS!

Seth didn't want to believe the words that left the security guard's mouth. How would his wife be secretly plotting to divorce him?

It felt like the unthinkable! He had never even let such thought accidentally cross his mind and he didn't want to think about it now either.

While he was still trying together his thoughts, the other security guard started to speak and it immediately snapped him out of his tangled thoughts.

“The news of the almighty Marlin Murray proposing to the second to the youngest granddaughter of the Patterson family is all over the news and it seems to interest a lot of people! A lot of comments have been made saying that they actually are a good fit unlike the useless and penniless good for nothing man she currently fed in her home.

“Mr Murray is known for his good looks, his power, popularity and wealth and he could do a lot of wonders in the life of Ms. Patterson. A lot could really turn around for her if she considered becoming his woman.” The guard said.

A frown sat on Seth's face just then, the public media didn't know anything and would blindly ship her with a goat if he claimed to be from the richest country in the world with so much money in his personal account.

They would even encourage her to get married to it because it proposed a brighter and richer future for her and enough to raise the baby goats she would have in the future.

Merlin or Marlin, whatever he called himself, whether he was an old wizard with magical powers or a normal young egoistic man with power, it still didn't change the fact that he was under Seth.

His own family– the Rivera– owned chroma creative where Marlin worked and he saw no reason why the man should be feeling on top when he wasn't even close to being the man in charge, talk less of the boss himself!

“I can do great things for her too you know, I could literally turn her life within the blink of an eye.” Seth announced to the men.

They both chorused a loud guffaw as their ears picked up the words Seth had just spoken.

“You?! You believe you can do great things for Ms. Patterson? Tell me because I really want to know, what kind of great things can you do for her? Can you turn her life around? How do you plan on doing that?”

“Listen to me, Phoebe is my wife and I know she can never do what you two are suspecting–”

“Suspecting? Oh no, nobody is suspecting anything. We all know that there is something going on between the both of them. Mr Murray comes to visit her sometimes and even takes her out for dinner when she's free, they hold hands and hug and who knows if they've kissed?”

The security guard was exaggerating big but was still a little on point. Murray did visit a lot and she sometimes accepted rides from him but she never held his hand or hugged him.

But Seth didn't know these things to be mere exaggerations because after all, both men were always standing outside the building so they must have witnessed it happen.

“Listen, if you want to at least be a competition then try with getting a good and respectable job. We all know you're well educated so why not just try?

“When you have a source of steady income then you can start buying her expensive gifts like Mr Murray does. Did you see the paper bag in his hand? It's probably perfumes and maybe jewelry that cost no joke and I'm pretty sure it's the same with those beautiful lilies he was holding.”

The other guard spoke up. “Nobody knows the reason Ms. Patterson married you in the first place but there is one thing we all know, including she herself! She is tired of living with a man she has to feed and finally wants to lean into someone's arms.”

If that was what she truly wanted then he would give her more than his arms to lean on.

Meanwhile…

Marlin made his way to the hall where he bumped into Phoebe by happenstance. “Oh, Phoebe! I was just about to join you in your office.”

His eyes looked her up and down with nothing but ravaging desires on his mind. The way her red mini dress hugged her curves ever so tightly with her hips pushing out at the side.

The top of her bust was revealed through the slight opening at the chest and Marlin couldn't help but to stare.

His tongue subconsciously licked his lower lip as he stared at her beautiful body and Phoebe felt her brows creased into a slight frown.

She never imagined that there would come a time where she would make the decision she had made that day.

Desperation had pushed her into calling Marlin when she realized she wouldn't be getting money from anywhere else and she needed to save her company from crumbling by all means.

“Mr Murray, thank you for coming on such a short notice.” Her lips curved into a forced smile as she stopped right in front of him.

“I heard you have been waiting a long time for me.”

“Oh not at all, I had other things that were keeping me busy so I guess I didn't even notice the time at all.” She explained to him.

“Well anyway, there is a reasonable and logical explanation to my tardiness.” He said to her with a smile. “Firstly, these are for you.” he handed her the bouquet of lilies in his hand.

Phoebe stared at the flowers in astonishment. They were very beautiful, but that wasn't the reason she wanted to see him. “Mr Murray, these are very beautiful but I have to politely refuse them.”

Marlin's brow twitched. The flowers had cost him quite a few thousands to buy and she just told him she would politely refuse?

He let out an awkward chuckle. “I see that you are not impressed by the flowers but that is no problem at all. Perhaps lilies are not your thing?”

“No, Mr Murray, I wouldn't want you to get the wrong idea, it's not the flowers, they are really beautiful.” Phoebe just couldn't tell him she didn't appreciate the intentions behind the flower giving.

“No, it's alright, I actually do understand your point. What do you think about roses? Persimmons?--”

“Mr Murray,” she tried not to snap. Why couldn't he just see that she didn't want his flowers and that was all? “Like I said earlier, I have no problems with the flowers.”

“I hear they make great roses in Peru, how would you like me to have them shipped in for you?” He arched his brow as he asked.

The Peruvian roses truly were the best but they looked just as they cost. “A Peruvian rose is simply too expensive don't you think? I hear that one costs no less than a hundred thousand dollars.”

Marlin's jaw almost dropped at the price he heard as a scoff escaped his mouth which he immediately transformed into a laugh.

The rowed cost s hundred thousand dollars per one then how much would it cost him to put together a bouquet?

He had let his mouth slip and put himself into something he didn't dare to afford. Spending such unmentionable millions on mere roses was just too unthinkable but he didn't know how to back away from the situation without seeming like a coward.

There was no way she wouldn't make fun of him if he immediately agreed not to buy the roses just because they were costly.

He froze force second. He cleared his throat dryly. “Well, the roses are uhm… what I mean is the price isn't–”

A hand suddenly slapped away the full bouquet of flowers in his hand away and Marlin almost screamed.

The bouquet had cost him no less than five thousand dollars to assemble together and just like that! They were crushed on the floor by some massively strong hands.

His widened eyes lifted from the bouquet of flowers that laid on the floor to the hand that had sent it flying and if his eyes could grow any wider, they would just then.

“You!” He growled at Seth who was glaring at him with rage burning in his eyes.

Seth had somehow managed to maneuver his way through the security guards. He didn't plan on handing them the documents and leaving before and Marlin's presence was more reason for him to enter the building.

As he made his way into the hall, he was lucky enough to see both of them standing together with Marlin's outstretched hand presenting the bouquet of lily flowers to Phoebe.

“What the hell?! You good for nothing piss of shit! How dare you damage my lilies?! Who the hell do you think you are?! You know I could sue you for harassment right?” Marlin threatened him.

Seth, though, didn't seem shaken by Marlin's words, there was nothing he could do to him comparing their status. “Keep your freaking flowers away from my wife!” He growled in anger at Marlin.

If stares could kill then Marlin was a dead man already. The flames that burnt in his eyes would hurt a man from a distance away from the way it was hot!

Marlin couldn't help but to feel extremely angry at the sight of Seth. He noticed that Seth wss holding Phoebe's hand and he was standing so close to her person.

He felt jealous and angry.

Phoebe felt taken aback by his sudden interference. She had never expected her husband to walk in and she was even more surprised at the glare in his eyes.

She actually felt… afraid.

    "What Regret"

“Regret,” she said with a sneer. Regret is just a euphemism for guilt. It doesn’t mean anything. It doesn’t wipe the slate clean, and it definitely does not heal the mess that you made.‘Christian,’ she said softly, ‘don’t come any closer.’ He stopped, as she decided to step back from him.Phoebe flared up again and asked him: “You said you came for the truth?” “Fine. Here’s the truth, Christian. I loved you. With everything I had. And you destroyed me. You were able to make me question myself in ways that I never knew existed. And now you stand here, asking me for what? Closure? Redemption? Forgiveness?”“No,” he said firmly. All I am demanding is an opportunity to prove that I can improve.” That I am better.”She scoffed. “And you believe that one conversation is going to make a difference?” You think I can just what? Stare at you and forget the years I struggled to climb up the ladder and get a life again?“No,” he repeated again, and there was no quiver in his voice. “But I can’t

I returned because I could not continue living such a life knowing that I destroyed something that was wonderful.Phoebe whirled on her toes, glaring. “And what about me? Have you ever thought what it feels like to wake up every day with the marks you have made on others? To have to break yourself down and begin to build yourself up again from scratch just to have the one who was responsible for tearing you down appear with an apology?”“I do now,” he said quietly. “Because I do, I see it in your eyes.
