"magic, supernatural abilities, superpowers, talents, quirks... we call it many things depending on where we come from, what we learned and how it rolls off the tongue.
Those who have it cultivate it and integrate into their daily lives, those who don't have it sometimes study it, but the question that is asked on both sides is the question of its origin. hardly anyone in the world knows the origin of this thing we call 'magic' people have studied and searched but to no avail. there is no culture on earth that has any records of its origin. this was baffling to the archeologists, something that was so significant had no story that spoke of its origin.
Human beings have searched without rest for an answer that I have. all they have to do is ask any priest but they don't want 'superstitious' answers. what they do not understand is that those 'superstitious' answers are true facts so they wallow in their answerless search."
"I KNOW THE ORIGIN, I KNOW THE ROOT."
My visions tell me of a time without magic. A time when technology was so advanced that it made our current time look primitive.
It tells me of the great mistake men made that caused their technology to turn against them.
It shows me that technology being robbed from them, and then it shows me the tower.
It shows me demons crawling from the abyss, and It shows me heroes rising to stop them.
But when I asked the gods "was it you who did this?" they replied "NO"
They told me of a lesser god named Orie, one whose name I share. They told me of how he gave his life to create the heroes that protected mankind from the demonic threats that linger till this day in the forbidden zones.
I do not blame men for not knowing the Origin(they never knew in first place), neither do I blame for not believing the words of the priests. but I am appalled by the things they choose to do with the gift that they have received; fighting amongst themselves when they should be working together to make the world safer, causing disputes and worst of all, taking advantage of the weak.
Even if they weren't the cause, There is no limit to how much I can lament about the problems of the world's people. and I keep lamenting because those who have the power to be the solution fail to do so.
I could keep ranting all day but I've got things to like doing my best not to get hit by any of Endo's strikes which is hard since I don't get to land any of my own."
All Orie could do was evade attacks repeatedly not returning any, but he was doing quite well when compared the others. he was naturally evasive with good training and not even even a raging Endo could do as much as scratch him. The hit ratio ratio between him and his opponent was 0:0
other than Orie who was keeping Endo busy, everyone's situation improved. Shiro was finally able to one-shot his enemies, courtesy of his Raiken which he read of in Dave's book. Raiken was a skill that allowed him to engulf certain parts of his body with lightning, increasing their power exponentially. lightning strikes were ineffective so this was his best option. there was also the option of summoning a sacred beast which Yamato did but Shiro didn't know how to do it yet, it was written somewhere in Dave's book he never got the time to read it properly.
With his Raiken and superior speed, Shiro mowed down more enemies than everyone except Shin Whose area was flashing with blinding lights. Mia who was the closest to the area said that the only thing that protected her eyes when she looked was the ridiculous amount of scrap metal that flew out of the area and she didn't dare look a second time.
Shiro punched through his enemies with ease, Yamoto and his blue tiger were clearing the area. Mia on the other hand was doing the most unexpected all things, using a sniper rifle in close combat. not that it held a disadvantage or anything It was just weird that the most durable thing in her inventory was a sniper rifle that doubled as a heavy metal bat. but what no one could disagree with was that the combos she did with it were awesome.
Meanwhile Orie seemed to be reaching his limits. he was still yet to get hit directly but the brushes he received were good enough to deal significant amounts of damage. the only option he had in mind was to wait for Shin to get there but considering how occupied Shiro was, it wasn't going to be anytime soon.
A second thought came to his mind. it was to run away but before he could shake it off a voice in his head did it for him saying the word "attack"
It was a voice that he trusted, a voice that couldn't be wrong, a voice that relayed to him the instructions of the gods but this time it told him to do something he was sure he couldn't do.
the voice said again "attack" but Orie still didn't follow "attack!...attack!!...attack!!!" It repeatedly yelled, each time with more intensity until Orie finally gave in and hit Endo with a punch to the stomach.
the punch sent Endo flying, and Orie was left dumbfounded. what he expected was an unusual counter accompanied by a whole lot of damage but none of that happened.
"how?...how is this possible?" Orie muttered
"well I figured the spell could be broken if a winner emerged" Shin answered as he walked towards Orie.
"but you guys haven't fought yet" Orie replied then Shin looked at him and smiled, saying the words "you don't have to fight a battle to admit defeat"
"so you forfeited your thousand years old duel?"
"yeah, basically"
"why? weren't you fighting for something important?"
"yes I was, but not against him"
"what do you mean?"
"it seems that you don't know what truly happened in days of old. I'll tell you everything when once I'm able to get this guy to calm down."
"and how do you intend to break the rage spell that has been cast on him?"
"let's just say I have a very powerful grandfather, you called out his name not long ago."
as Orie heard those words his face lit up, he was about to see the true power of Amadioha, one that was obtained by blood. another thing that brought him joy was he looked around and saw that the battle was nearing its end. what he saw was students cleaning up what was left of the 'Iron legion'. then he looked in the direction of an unconscious Endo who Shin was walking towards. "finally, I can rest" he said adjusting his coat as he watched Shin wake Endo up with a zap to the forehead.
as soon as Endo woke up, he moved to attack Shin but was immediately subdued by Shin's binding skill. within the chains of lighting he couldn't move a muscle. then Shin picked him up and raised him towards the sky.
"I know he said he didn't bear any aggression towards Endo" Orie muttered to himself
"but no matter how I look at it, he's about to do what I think he's about to do" Orie said to himself as he watched Shin scream the name of the thunder God. "AMADIOHA!!!"
"so much for not holding aggression" he as he walked away. he didn't know what made him look back but as he did, he saw that Endo was perfectly fine.
what was called down was not any ordinary lightning, it was a special lightning that brought calm and enlightenment, the same kind of which elders wished upon the youths. but not even enlightenment was enough to quell Endo's anger, the spell was broken but the rage remained but even more than that was the sadness. the sadness that remained after watching his entire nation die was still fresh but what was worse was the fact he was in front of the man that caused it all and for the second time he was too weak to avenge his people's death.
bound on the floor, he just he watched helplessly as the man he sought to kill walked away from him.
the battle had ended and Tanaka was finally let out of the barrier that was placed around her. with haste she ran towards Endo to see how he was doing. she couldn't help but feel that it was her fault that he was in his current condition "If only I didn't recall them" she thought
"none of this would've happened"
before she could get to Endo, Shin stopped her and told her "your work is not yet finished"
"There is still much to be done"
"can you show someone another person's memory?"
This is final chapter of the first volume. Volume two begins in the next chapter. It is titled:
"EXODUS"
Thank you for coming this far with me.
01011000, 10000101, 01-01-1000, 1000-01-01. The one thing all these numbers have in common is the memory that they trigger (and also the fact that they're binary but that's not the issue). once someone comes in contact with any of them, they are immediately reminded of the beginning of recorded history. one day the entire world gained what was perceived as free will. they never felt chained or forced against their will before then but after that day, they felt like they were finally able to do what they truly wanted. This led to a whole year's worth of chaos and was the first ever recorded event in history. events before that time could not be recorded because there was hardly anyone with memories of them and no one knew why(generally speaking). It was also a wonder why there were no records of the past before then but there was no record to depend on to tell why there was no record. In the end the chaotic year was dubbed the year of oblivion and everyone one went on with
Uzo's most memorable moment took place in his childhood when his power first manifested. there was a time of the year when all the children in the village were brought before the prophets and asked various questions mostly their names and if they had any special ability. he remembered when his turn came to answer those questions. "what is your name?" the prophet asked calmly "Uzo'ndu" he replied. as soon as he uttered his own name, everything stopped for a moment and within that moment he saw multiple instances of his death within the next few days, all of which he could not understand and somehow knew how knew what to do to prevent it. The first step was to lie when he was asked the next question. "Do you have any special abilities?" "No" "Do you feel energy flowing through you?" "What's energy?" "Do you feel tingly in any part of your body?" "Yes, in my stomach, when I get hungry" "Don't joke with me kid" "You seem to be the one joking with me" And th
"come to think of it, I don't know how my village came to be" "and now it's been destroyed and wiped out of history...." "wait....." "what is history?" these thoughts ran through Uzo's mind as he evaded the fleet's lasers and headed back towards the ruined village. he was glad when he saw the entire fleet follow him back and he was assured of his family's safety. as soon as he reached the outskirts of the village, he immediately sunk his arm into the ground and turned it as if he had held on to something. then suddenly two cannons rose up from the ground and began firing at the fleet. "my power amazes me sometimes" Uzo said as he sat back and watched the beautiful display of fireworks. The show was fun and all but it had to come to an end at some point, and that point wasn't when neither side could no longer fire anything at each other. the fleet was the first to run out and they received a lot of damage until Uzo's cannons ran out. but the show was far from over an
as we have come this far with the story, there is something that I have felt the need to do. you surely have noticed that some of the words I use are not common or do not exist in the English dictionary. well that's because they're not English (obviously). one could check on G****e or use any other translation software but you might be led astray. not because the translation is wrong (it is sometimes) but because one word could mean different things and most translations don't take metaphor into account. what I'll be doing isn't translations. but rather, I'll be trying to let you see the meaning of those words from my own perspective. I won't be explaining much unless I feel it's necessary. so without further ado, let's get into it. FUBUKI: this this is Japanese word for snowstorm. in this story it is used as Natsumi's surname and it is also the name of the island most of the story's events take place. OTUMOPKOR: the 'O's are supposed to have dots underneath them but I
For days, the lightning walked past countless villages, scaled many mountains and crossed hundreds of rivers. he didn't know why he saved Uzo's life, he didn't know why he left the forest, he didn't know where he was going, he didn't even know who he was. all he knew was that he was going in the direction of where he should be. hunger and thirst could not stop him, neither could the dangers that lurked in the dark. there was nothing on his mind other than the direction he needed to go. this continued until he arrived at beach and couldn't go further. he was sure that he wasn't in the place he was meant to be but he could no longer tell which direction to go. as he contemplated his next decision, he laid on the sand and fell into a deep slumber. he slept for hours until he was finally woken up by the waves that crashed into him and after that a great amount of pain came upon his stomach. he soon noticed that it was hunger but he had nothing to eat so he had to bear it. n
Mina's agony was apparent. the tears that fell down her cheeks were filled with great sadness. on the other hand, Yen was sure that he had arrived in his destination, the problem was to do when he got there. he was aware of Mina's pain but he didn't know what to do about it, and before he could do anything he was distracted by a loud voice that said "we have you surrounded. come out with your hands in the air" on hearing the voice, Mina's sadness immediately switched to anger. "I want those bastards dead" she said as she reached for her crossbow and got ready for battle. then she looked outside and saw the great number that she was up against. it was like a welcoming party of death. each one of them looked dangerous and hard to deal with and Mina immediately realized how irrational her decision was and crawled to the part of the deck that couldn't be seen from outside. "don't listen to them" she said, looking at Yen "It doesn't matter what we do, they're still going to ki
the walls stood tall, the gates shone like the morning sun, but what surprised Mina the was the fact that Yen called it his new home. "What do you mean?" she asked "how can you be so sure?" she added. and Yen replied "I don't know, but I have this great feeling that I'll spend most of my days here" "there are a lot of things I do without fully understanding them" he added "this is one of them" he said as he threw a lightning bolt at the gate forcing it open. Mina's expectation was for a large number of armed guards to immediately rush out and face them, but the actual response was quite calm. the gate opened and a single person came from within. a Middle aged man stood in front of Yen and Mina asking the questions "who are you? and what is your aim here?" "I'm a traveller." Yen answered "and I need a place to stay" he added "so you are the intruders H.Q was talking about" the man said as his already angry looking face began to look angrier. "how did
after a few minutes of walking through tall storage buildings, they finally they finally came to a wide open space in the middle of the city. there were a few residential buildings around (mostly mansions) and at the centre, a tower stood. the tower was taller than every other building in the city and it had an architectural style that made it unique from the times. Inumaki led them to the largest and most beautiful mansion of all. and at the entrance, they were stopped. "do not proceed any further" a voice came from inside and four young men darted out ready for battle. they all had that serious look as if it was their first time having to defend the mansion. "these guys are definitely noobs" Mina whispered. "it's quite apparent" Yen whispered back. taking a deep breath, Inumaki said as calmly as he could "let us in, we have a message for the queen." but the answer was "no" "we know that you were defeated by that man" one of the young men said pointing at Yen.
