You never truly appreciate a miracle unless you heard of it before it happened. That moment when the thing you thought was just too impossible begins to unfold before you for the very first time. There is no look more precious than that of one who has had such experience.
Miracles happen only once. After that, it becomes a possibility.
Cal and Orie were initially rated on a seven to one ratio. This meant that the officials of this tournament believed that Cal was at least seven times more powe6r than Orie and seven times more likely to win. At the current time the ratio had become ten to one.
It seemed hopeless for the few that had put their faith in Orie. The match wasn't over but the situation made them feel the winner was already decided.
"What is he doing in there?"
"Does he have a death wish?"
"Just give up already!!"
even some of those that were on his opponent's side felt pity for him but Orie was not one to dwell on pity. He could not hear their words, all he could hear was noise and all he wanted to do was to silence that noise.
Cal was still keeping up the momentum of his attacks when something hot hit him from behind. It didn't do much damage but it was enough to distract him from his opponent. By the time he regained focus, their was a good distance between them.
"Ahh.." Orie sighed as he took off his shirt
"This guy is definitely strong" he said as he tossed it aside.
"But I think I can manage"
"It's about time I fight like me"
Some people in the audience began to wonder why Orie took his shirt off.
"What's that gonna do for him?" They wondered
"He's already lost"
Orie's few supporters seem to have lost hope but the moment he made his next move, they regained it immediately.
He took a deep breath and went low. He closed his eyes and a vortex of wind surrounded his feet. No one saw the step that he took to dash, all they knew was that he was first in his stance then he was suddenly in front of Cal with a kick that aimed for the head.
Cal was able to dodge the attack but his opponent immediately switched trajectory and hit him from behind. That was Orie's first direct hit since the beginning of the match.
Cal felt no significant impact from the strike. He immediately turned around to attack as he said the words "that barely tickles" but Orie was nimble and easily evaded his hand.
The next attack from Orie came and Cal was able to block it . He blocked with his hand but he felt a similar impact on his side. Cal did not understand what was happening until his opponent took a step back and shot a fire ball at him.
"The look on your eyes tell me that you finally understand what is going on" Orie said with a smile.
"You are about to lose"
What happened after Orie said those words sent the crowd into a frenzy. Suddenly the two men who were initially on different levels seemed to be evenly matched.
Cal was confident in his ability to destroy everything in his way but the one he wanted to destroy was very good at getting out of it. The hits he got from his opponent inflicted minimal damage but he was unable to return any of them.
Soon Cal began to realize that he was facing a trickster, someone who was good at manipulating the flow, someone who had complete control. He could not predict were the next attack would come from. His opponent was capable of long range attacks but still threw fists with him, and if he managed to dodge those fists, there was either a fireball, a lightning bolt or some other projectile that came out of nowhere waiting to hit him.
Cal may not have had a wide range of abilities but he was very good at using the one he had. He stomped on the floor and caused the arena to cave in and some pieces of it got sent into the air. Cal immediately knocked and threw the floating pieces at Orie who was sent back by the stomp.
The truth of the moment was that despite all of Orie's feats in the ongoing match, he was yet to convince majority of the audience that he had a chance of winning. It could not be helped, his opponent was a one time champion that made it to the finals many times while he was a first timer that not many people knew. Cal was known to have a strong defense and a great deal of endurance and Orie was yet to land any blow that could bypass them... or so they thought.
From somewhere in the teacher section of the stadium, Natsumi observed something. Her sensitivity to the surrounding temperature allowed her to notice that Orie was using hot and cool techniques in succession. After some hot shots, he would send in some cold ones. He was doing something similar to fracking.
Another person to notice this was Waramaki. He had practiced a similar method of fighting but he saw it as a weakling's method.
Ellie was also able to notice the pattern with her ability to see through other people's eyes. She saw the fight from every possible angle but she couldn't tell much about why he fought in such a manner.
The Rosewells were able to see it as they had high visual acuity. There were also a few others who noticed it in one form or the other, some read meaning into it while others disregarded it, but the thing about truth is that no matter what anyone thinks or believes that is, only the truth will stand in the end.
It was like a sick joke, a ridicule to the minds of those that thought themselves rational as what they thought impossible unfolded and Cal fell flat to the floor.
SHIN SEKAI SECRET: every technique Orie used were self taught. His moves are not based on anyone's style even if they look similar.
There was complete silence in all parts of the stadium. It wasn't that people had nothing to say but what could they say that could explain what just happened before their eyes? They just watched as the referee ran in to confirm the outcome. It took longer than usual as the referee also had his doubts but in the end he had no choice but to declare Cal unable to continue. The silence broke immediately he stood up to declare Orie the winner. The doubt of many began to flow out in words. "IT'S A LIE!!" "THIS IS BULLSHIT!!" "THIS GAME IS RIGGED!!" There was no word of doubt that was not spoken at that moment. Even when the medics came out to put Cal on a stretcher, people still thought it was an act. What could Orie do? He had just won a match and no one believed it. There was hardly anyone cheering for him, all the loud voices expressed nothing but doubt, hate, and disbelief. Despite all the hate he was getting, he just cracked a smile and walked out of the arena
Chris Vanadium. The only reason he didn't make it to the finals as much as Cal was that he faced Waramaki in most of the semifinals. He is one of the few people that have been able to beat Cal in the previous tournaments. He is also a one time champion and the one he beat to earn that title was none other than Fuji Waramaki. There were many reasons to fear him, but most feared attribute of his was the speed of his blade. Yes, he fights with a sword and he is really good with it; so good that a large percentage of his matches end in less than a minute. Anyone that saw his previous match was immediately reminded of how dangerous he was, even some that had faith in Orie in the previous match lost it for this one. To sum things up on how dangerous he was, the chance of him making it to the final match of the current tournament was ninety-nine percent. Though Orie's match was the first of round one, in round two, his match was the third. Not many had high hopes for this match beca
"This is my day" "This is my day" "This is my day" It kept repeating but Natsumi could not understand what it meant" "This is my day" She knew she had forgotten something "This is my day" She was sure she had forgotten something "This is my day" Something that would help her discern the situation. "This is my day" It stopped as soon as she realized what it meant. She remembered that when she thought it was Orie's birthday, he had told her these words. She remembered how he told her of the four market days of his tribe and that he shared his name with one of them. She remembered that he told her how the days affected his power, and this made her the least surprised person among the audience when Orie got back up on his feet. "WHAT... THE... F***!!!!?" Ellie screamed at the camera "How much blood does this guy have?" "He's lost so much yet he is still standing" "What kind of immortal dragon sh** is this" "This is not easy to believ
From within the circle came forth a huge bird of prey; a hawk. It appeard to be fully covered in silver. Just by looking at it, one could tell that its beak was harder than a rock and that its claws were as sharp as blades, even its wings didn't seem flying was all they could do. At this point in the battle where pride was being cast aside, the same thought ran through the minds of everyone watching. "NOW THE REAL FIGHT BEGINS" "Go" at this command from Chris, the bird threw itself at Orie with incredible speed. Orie evaded the bird without problem but what came next was quite challenging. After evading an attack from above he found himself facing one from below. Not many can escape such attacks from Chris. He would use the bird to make his opponents dodge in a certain manner, then he would go in for the real attack when their balance had been compromised. It was quite an effective move, but just not for Orie. "How is this possible?" Chris thought to himself as h
"Oh not the face" Shiro thought to himself as he was sent flying through the museum's front door. The impact of his back hitting the street floor was enough to get a yell out of him and make him roll around in pain. After rolling, he laid there for a few seconds before getting back up to reassess the situation he was in. He had already sustained significant damage and his vision was already blurred. "But I was hit only once" he said to himself in an unsure tone as he staggered to remain on his feet. He could barely move, no one else was around and he could see the armored man walking down the steps of the museum. As Shiro watched, the armored man walked down the steps and stopped, then he began to stare at Shiro. After few minutes of awkward silence and observation, the armored man finally spoke "are you Shin?" he asked, with a lot of seriousness in his reverberating voice. Normally, Shiro would deny and say that he wasn't the one the armored man was looking for, but Victor said he
After a speedy cleanup, Dave was finally ready with breakfast. He set the plates and made sure everything was in perfect condition then looked at the well arranged dining table and said to himself "it's still futile " then he walked over to the stairs yelled "Shiro, breakfast is ready"After that, Dave could see his son running down with lightning under his feet and instantly finishing his breakfast while standing."I don't remember being like this when I was your age" Dave said with a disturbed look on his face."You actually don't remember anything " Shiro replied as he hung his bag and took of to school."He's just like his mother" Dave said to himself as he shook his head and smiled. "Wait a sec" Dave said to himself in a surprised tone "just like his mother, just like his mother, just like his mother, just....like....his.....mother.." he said repeatedly in agony and pain.Dave kept writhing in pain as images he couldn't see clearly flashed in his mind. The pain was great but he tr
With a little bit of hesitation, Orie peeped into his classroom, then slowly walked in. As he walked towards the teacher's table, no one rose to greet him; not even Victor, his most/only respectful student. As Orie sat down and looked at the impatient faces of his students, he felt apologetic even though it wasn't his fault that they had been left behind. Neither him nor his students were new to the kind of situation they were currently in, his class was the most unfavoured in the entire school, and he could believe it was his fault. In "Fubuki island", the non-royals were considered people to stepped on and kicked around. Orie wasn't just a non-royal, he was a foreigner from a different country and There was no way for him to hide the obvious fact that was written all over body. His dark skin and his short curly hair gave him away. Orie's greatest challenge was his job, teaching in the most elite school at a very young age of twenty-five. His colleagues looked down on him, and he
"Shiro...Shiro...Shiro" Orie yelled into his device, but there was no outcome, he had been repeatedly doing this for the past few minutes, he even tried teleporting, but he didn't seem to have enough mana left go that far. Many others were less concerned and had already gone home, and Orie had finally made peace with the fact that his magic would not be able to save his students. He reached into right pocket and brought out his phone, then he made a call that was answered almost immediately "Hello" a female voice answered from the other side, then Orie replied "Hello, principal Rin, I need a ride" then he cut the call and looked back at Natsumi who was sticking to his side. Back in the "Shin sekai Tech house", shiro and his friends stood amidst an uncountable number canines. The wolves formed a circle around them and were closing in slowly, in a coordinated manner. Their growling and howling was beginning tick Shiro off, a he couldn't handle it any longer but he was waiting for Vict
