"If you ask questions that have already been asked, you will get answers you've already heard"
"I find myself having to give answers to a question that has been asked many times"
"A question with many answers"
"An whatever action I take"
"I would just be chosing amongst the multitudes of answers that have already been given"
"What would you do if someone you love turned her blade against you?"
"Do you strike back?"
"Do you let them strike you?"
"Do you find fault in them?"
"Do you find fault yourself?"
"Do you blame an enemy?"
"Do you blame yourself?"
"Many answers are given to this question"
"But the only true answers are given by those who already made their choice"
"Some would say that a gentleman would first try to initiate dialogue before drawing his sword"
"But I am not a gentleman"
"There is a creed i stand by for all situations"
"If you want the story to go in your favor"
"If you want to stand high at the end"
"If you ever find yourself in battle"
"Before you dialogue"
"Before you uncover the whole story"
"Before you discover whatever is behind it"
"Even before you find out what the f**k is going on"
"WIN!!"
"Because there's no good name for those who lose"
Mia kept Shiro running around the underground hall as she swung endlessly. Each strike was lethal, fast and was intended for killing but Shiro was faster and more levelheaded, he kept evading with finesse and watched for openings.
Mia's swings were perfect but the moment she tried to thrust, Shiro dodged and caught her by the arm then threw her to floor. Immediately after, swords came flying at Shiro from both sides and he was forced out of the way.
"She's finally getting serious eh" Shiro said with a little smile
"The I'll do the same" he said as lightning started crackling around him. Swords came flying at him from all angles but none could hit him. Anyone that saw the way he moved would think he was dancing to a tune that controlled the entire battlefield. Every step he took had a spark and his feet only touched the ground for a very short instant before he took off.
The blades started moving faster and so did Shiro but he started to notice something. The first set of swords that flew at him were longer and heavier than the ones that were currently flying at him, he could tell by how they looked and the sound they made as they flew past him.
"This feels familiar" he said as one of the blades managed to narrowly cut him on the left cheek. Not long after, a few more blades were able to cut him.
"Oh wait" he said in realization
"I know this move" he said as Mia suddenly appeared in front of him and swung the sword in her hand with full force. The weight of the strike sent him flying through some of the pillars and crashing into the wall at the end.
"Why would someone buid such a spacious hall underground?" Shiro wondered, not minding the deep cut on his abdomen.
"Just how many pillars did I crash into?" He thought.
Not much time passed before Mia came rushing at Shiro again.
"Oh, come on" Shiro said as he vanished out of sight just before her strike could get to him.
"I mean, it was quite obvious but this confirms my suspicions" Shiro said
"This is not how Mia fights" he added
"You're viewing memories of the times she won against me and using the move that took me down most of the time"
"It's not a bad tactic but the thing is..." He said as blades started flying at him again and he began evading.
"...she was much stronger back then than now"
The ominous figure in the hidden place could not hold in his anger. He stretched forth his and Shiro began feeling some headache.
Along with the headaches, Shiro could feel his sense of self slipping away from him. In the process of trying to recover, he lost focus on the blades that were flying towards him and one of them pierced through his left shoulder.
Shiro closed his eyes in pain and when he opened them, they were glowing with pure light.
"Enough of this" he said he vanished out of sight. All that could be seen of him was the trail of light he left behind when he passed by. Wind suddenly began to blow in the underground hall and it could be felt in the wind as he got faster.
He moved around the hall at unpercievable speed then suddenly stopped and yelled "OVERSHADOW!!"
SHIN SEKAI SECRET: Orie is always shirtless and barefoot when using the power of the gods as they are connected with the forces of nature that dwell in the sky and in the soil.
"OVERSHADOW", that is what was heard before the entire hall was thrown into a complete white-out. Everything was affected including the color of Mia's skin and hair. For a brief moment, Mia's expression showed that of one who was remorseful of her actions but it immediately switched back to the paleness it had before and she continued attacking Shiro. Her attacks had become sloppy. The intense color altering caused by Shiro's technique had a great effect on her ability to concentrate and differentiate the things in front of her and she found herself running into walls more often. "The real Mia would have figured this out by now" Shiro said in disappointment as he effortlessly evaded all her attacks. The battle stretched on and after a while, things started to regain thier normal appearance. The ominous figure in the dark made an observation. Even though he could see Shiro through a monitor, he could not feel a shred of his presence at all. The case was different a while ago
Mia recalled a conversation she once had with Shiro. She remembered asking him "if I ever turned my blade against you, what would you do?" And Shiro's answer was "I don't know" "I don't know if I could bring myself to fight against you" was Shiro's answer but it wasn't one that she approved of. "If I ever turn against you" she said "It would not be of my own will" "and I wouldn't be in my right mind" "So whatever happens" "Stop me" "Even if it means breaking my bones" As Mia recalled the event, she gave Shiro a piercing stare that carried the message "You thought I meant it literally?" and he gave back a look that said "well... I don't know what you're talking about" and her stare turned into a cold gaze. "Shiro dear" she said in a calm but threatening tone "You know I love you right?" She added and Shiro was like "oh shit!!" "But..." She said and Shiro already knew what was coming. "I'll surely get back at you for this" she said and Shir
Power is always associated with trouble. Sometimes it is great enough to save us from trouble, sometimes it isn't. Sometimes it is so great that trouble can't get close and sometimes its greatness is the reason why trouble comes. Sometimes it's not about how you use it, sometimes it's about the power itself. The mere existence of a certain power could stir up fear, awe, hatred and envy depending on who percieved it and how they do. "My power is supposed to kind that helps me escape trouble" Victor said to himself as he drove through an empty road with nothing but desert on both sides. "But unfortunately" he said with a sigh "I'm stuck with a lot of trouble magnets" "What a drag" It wasn't long before the lonely house in the middle of nowhere came into view but it wasn't the only thing in sight. What was seen was both scary and magnificent. A lone cowboy stood in front of the house and before him was a fresh field of corpses that spread far around the hou
"A great awakening happened once" "And the people of the world regained the sense of self they never knew they had lost" "Returning along with it was their greed, and their desire to own things." "All property was unclaimed and the race to claim them was intense, so intense that it lead to fights, then small group battles, then full scale wars between Nations." "Our freedom from the order brought a chaos that that we could not handle" "And it took a long time before we could attain balance" These were the words of Edward Clipper as he sat with them through the journey. "Why are you telling us this?" Shiro asked and Edward answered. "It is a truth I must speak as a descendant of one who saw it all with open eyes" he said "All the land was taken over by the order but the sea wasn't, and the sea was the home of my ancestors" "As those who were unaffected by the enslaving rule of the order, they witnessed the unfolding phenomenon with full awareness and
When your life is weird enough that travelling half across the world by sea in a single morning doesn't freak you out, you know you need a break. But unfortunately for Shiro, the weirdness of his life doesn't allow for breaks either. As he laid on his bed to get some extra shut-eye, someone knocked on the front door of his house. He was too lazy to answer it and remained on his bed whining about it. "Oh, come on" he lamented "I just got back" "Can't someone just let me sleep in peace" "Even if it is just five minutes" Soon the knocking stopped and it was then that Shiro remembered that he had left the door open. "Oh, shit" By the time he realized what was going on, there was a stranger in his room and he was jumping out the window. "What's with the grin?" Shiro wondered as he looked back at the crazy looking guy that was after him. "Do these guys ever get tired?" He asked as he kept running. Shiro ran until the was far enough from him house and in a
"The breeze in the west shall become the storm in the east" "It shall become a powerful force in the north" "And a sight of awe in the south" "And when it returns to the west..." "It shall be unstoppable" "My dear boy, Andrew Clipper" "These are not mere words" "This is your story" On hearing this, Andrew opened his eyes. He was on his knees and Orie stood beside him, placing a hand on his head. The room was dark and was lit by seven candles, and there was no one else in the room with them. Though all the doors and windows in the room were closed an intense wind blew within it. Gradually, the wind got stronger and blew ferociously around the empty room. It was strange that the seven candles didn't go off. "You are a storm that will sweep through all" "A wind that can move lands" "A reckoning force of greatness" "An unbreakable wind" "That, is what you are" Shiro was waiting for them outside the room. Throughout his the time he was wa
The new world tournament was one unique tournament. Despite the fact that it was held by a school and it's participants were staff and students, it still managed to draw worldwide attention. One contributing factor to this could be that the Shin-sekai academy was a prestigious school and was attended by the children of many of the world's elites but the major factor was that it proved to be more entertaining than many others in the world. The structure of the tournament was divided. The teachers' tournament took place first then the students' came after. After winners had been decided from both sides, the two winners would then have a face off. The winner of the previous teacher's tournament was Fuji Waramaki who had remained undefeated for five years. He also won all the face-offs with the student champions. The teachers tournament was full of old faces and the only two new faces in the tournament were Orie and Natsumi. Not many expected a different result from the teach
Just in case you were wondering where the fight was happening, the SHIN SEKAI company built a large stadium in the middle of the island where all roads cross. It was not exactly a hard place to find; in fact it was the most findable place in all of the island. The city was crowded with people from all over the world who were there for many different reasons. With the exception of those that came to spectate the matches, the most common visitors to this event were scouts and reporters. The tournament may not do much for the teachers, but it had the power to determine the future of the students that participated. "Ellie Porter here, reporting live from stadium one" a woman spoke with a clear voice as she stood with a microphone in front of a camera man. "As you can see, people from all over the world have come to witness the first match of the new world tournament" "This tournament was first introduced thirteen years ago on the same year that the school was built"
