In a field covered in smoke, there was a weird kind of silence. It wasn't that sounds could not be heard but that they could be heard clearly. The most prominent of those sounds was the sound of the helicopters that hovered above the field.
"H3, what's your status" Hughes spoke into his communication device
"I see nothing sir" a voice replied from the other side
"I have no eyes on the..." The voice said and suddenly stopped
"H3"
"H3"
"H3, REPORT!!!" Hughes yelled into his device but there was no answer. Then he looked forward through the windshield of the cockpit and saw one of his helicopters turning to face him
"Oh sh**" he said he jacked a parachute from the side and jumped out of the aircraft.
"Summon the mage squad" he spoke into his device as he watched the helicopter he was on burst into flames.
With a loud cry and all her might, Mia swung her sword at Genji with the intent of taking off his head but for some reason, her blade couldn't go through.
Except for the grin on Genji's face, Mia noticed something that was very annoying to deal with. The object that was responsible for stopping her blade, a sort of black scale that appeared out of nowhere. she struck again for the second time but Genji blocked with his hands and on the hand that he used to block was the same kind of black scale that appeared on his neck.
Mia knew that if she hesitated or even stopped to catch her breath, that she won't be able to muster up any more energy. She was well aware that she was running on adrenaline and that once her level of excitement went down, she won't be able to get up again. So she kept striking.
She kept striking with all her strength and the speed of her swings kept increasing. Genji's scales were so strong that her swords broke every time she struck but her pace was not affected. If a sword broke, she simply just brought out another one and struck again.
For a moment, Mia had the upper hand but she was quickly approaching her limit and Genji was quite a decent fighter. The moment he saw a chance for a counter attack, he made great use of it and struck Mia in her abdomen. After that he followed up with series of combos that hit hard and didn't miss.
"Did you really think that the beasts were all I had?" He Said as he continued his attacks
"That was an ordinary technique that anyone could learn"
"Haven't they taught you that in school?"
"Or were you foolish enough to believe that I didn't have anything else?"
"I'm a bit disappointed, y'know"
"But then again, this is the power that helped me kill your father"
"I call it...."
"DRAGON SCALE"
"What did you just say?" Mia asked with clear rage in her faint weak voice
"Did you say that this power of yours helped you take down my father?"
"Hmm" she laughed
"If that were true I'd really be disappointed in him"
"But considering how weak you are, I'm quite sure that you're lying"
"I'll tell you how you won" she said as she struggled to get on her feet
"You found his weakness"
"You exploited his kindness"
"You used tricks that you were sure he would fall for"
"You won against him with that strategy"
"And you're trying the same with me"
"But you didn't account for one thing" she said with a smile
"You're not the only one that knows how to fight like a coward"
Genji didn't really understand what Mia did. All he knew was that he saw her take a glowing blue pill and suddenly vanish. Now he was taking hits from places he couldn't see.
Mia was able to cut him before his scales activated. She couldn't land fatal blows but she could at least make him bleed.
"I see you still had an ace up your sleeve" Genji laughed.
"But it's still not enough" he said
"IT WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH!!" He roared as he covered his whole body with scales. He still couldn't see where the attacks were coming from but he didn't care since they could not harm him.
"No even the great lords of the order can break through this armor" he said
"There is nothing that can penetrate it" he said with pride
"But you're wrong" Mia replied as she stopped her attacks and appeared in front of Genji
"There's one thing that can easily pass through" she said
"And what my that be?" Genji Asked
"HEAT" Mia said as suddenly brought out a flamethrower and began firing at Genji who immediately started to to run away to avoid the fire.
"I never really thought of this" Mia said out loud
"But I wonder what grilled Genji smells like"
"I guess I'll find out" she said with a menacing laugh
"Why did she suddenly become stronger?" Genji asked himself
"Was it that blue pill?" he wondered
"No" he said
"She's still barely as strong as she was when the fight"
"The pill just barely recovered her energy"
"She didn't get stronger"
"She changed her style"
"How could she have done that so quickly?" Genji wondered
"Not even sages are capable of doing that" he said
"So how?"
Many thoughts ran through Genji's mind as he ran from the flames that came towards him. Then he noticed something.
"Has that sword always been there?" he asked himself as he looked at the katana that hung from Mia's waist
SHIN SEKAI SECRET: There is no set hierarchy among priests. However, the more powerful ones have great influence over others.
"I want a sword that helps keep me alive" "A sword that once held will help me to survive" "A sword I can strike with that helps evade all strikes" "A sword for a coward to help me win all fights" Such were the words that went through Mia's head as she swallowed the glowing blue pill. As she vanished from Genji's line of sight, she reached out her hand for a sword. The moment she grabbed the sword that came to her, pictures of events she never experienced began flooding her mind, alongside the pictures came voices and an odd feeling of rage that she was sure wasn't hers. It didn't take long for her to understand that those were the memories within the sword but that wasn't the strangest part Despite the fact that there was rage within the sword and herself, Mia was sure that the the it was telling her to hang it on her waist and bring out something else. At first, she didn't listen and used the sword to attack Genji but when he covered himself in scales, Mia u
"Freeland has a law that states "superhuman abilities and magic of all forms are prohibited from being practiced. Any civilian caught using their powers in public will be charged with terrorism and arrested immediately" It is claimed by the government that this law was put in place to prevent the great Meta incident that occurred twenty-five years earlier but the law wasn't doing anything to help the underclassed citizens of the country. There were people, those that the protection of the government couldn't reach. Those who lived with constant fear in neighborhoods with the highest rates of crime. Those who had the power to fight back but were forbidden to do so by law. Soon, people grew tired. Those who were brave enough put on masks and took on nicknames in order to do what was right, they were called superheroes." Naomi narrated then took a huge slurp from her milkshake. "I moved here to join and make a difference" she added as she took another huge slurp. "So
Three shots to the head. That was all it took for Orie to end the mage squad that was held in high regards in all of Freeland. It couldn't be called a battle, it couldn't even be called a face-off because they all lost their lives as soon as they set their eyes on him. As soon as he had offed the mage squad, he set his sights back at Hughes. The commander who had just regained himself tried to run away but immediately got shot in both legs and fell. As the commander crawled in futility, the bringer of his death walked slowly behind him. Meanwhile, Shiro had found himself lost in the middle of town. "So what do now?" He asked himself as he paced around with Lighting speed. "I mean..." He said "...I had it down to the escape part but now I don't what comes next" "I don't know where my friends are, I don't know where Genji is" "How do I even...." "STOP RIGHT THERE!!!" a voice yelled through a megaphone "PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR!!!" the voice yelled aga
Nega had a bit of a hard time getting back home but he was still the first to arrive. He sat on his chair in the same room he had met Orie and the others and proceeded to get a smoke. He made sure his blunt was rolled perfectly and searched himself for a lighter but couldn't find any. "Need a light?" A familiar voice said from the distance. He looked up to see someone he knew that he really needed at the moment. 'Philip Vaquero', arguably the greatest bounty hunter of his time with very few competition. With an almost perfect record, he made his way to the top spot in the bounty hunter world and what made him fearsome was that all his bounties were top tier and of the highest grade. So if Vaquero ever came for you, all you could do was hope that you were wanted alive. Such a fearsome man stood in front of Nega and called him "BOSS" with a casual salute and he reciprocated with a casual "yo" "You're quite early" Nega said as he reclined back on his chair "Well boss"
"If you ask questions that have already been asked, you will get answers you've already heard" "I find myself having to give answers to a question that has been asked many times" "A question with many answers" "An whatever action I take" "I would just be chosing amongst the multitudes of answers that have already been given" "What would you do if someone you love turned her blade against you?" "Do you strike back?" "Do you let them strike you?" "Do you find fault in them?" "Do you find fault yourself?" "Do you blame an enemy?" "Do you blame yourself?" "Many answers are given to this question" "But the only true answers are given by those who already made their choice" "Some would say that a gentleman would first try to initiate dialogue before drawing his sword" "But I am not a gentleman" "There is a creed i stand by for all situations" "If you want the story to go in your favor" "If you want to stand high at the end"
"OVERSHADOW", that is what was heard before the entire hall was thrown into a complete white-out. Everything was affected including the color of Mia's skin and hair. For a brief moment, Mia's expression showed that of one who was remorseful of her actions but it immediately switched back to the paleness it had before and she continued attacking Shiro. Her attacks had become sloppy. The intense color altering caused by Shiro's technique had a great effect on her ability to concentrate and differentiate the things in front of her and she found herself running into walls more often. "The real Mia would have figured this out by now" Shiro said in disappointment as he effortlessly evaded all her attacks. The battle stretched on and after a while, things started to regain thier normal appearance. The ominous figure in the dark made an observation. Even though he could see Shiro through a monitor, he could not feel a shred of his presence at all. The case was different a while ago
Mia recalled a conversation she once had with Shiro. She remembered asking him "if I ever turned my blade against you, what would you do?" And Shiro's answer was "I don't know" "I don't know if I could bring myself to fight against you" was Shiro's answer but it wasn't one that she approved of. "If I ever turn against you" she said "It would not be of my own will" "and I wouldn't be in my right mind" "So whatever happens" "Stop me" "Even if it means breaking my bones" As Mia recalled the event, she gave Shiro a piercing stare that carried the message "You thought I meant it literally?" and he gave back a look that said "well... I don't know what you're talking about" and her stare turned into a cold gaze. "Shiro dear" she said in a calm but threatening tone "You know I love you right?" She added and Shiro was like "oh shit!!" "But..." She said and Shiro already knew what was coming. "I'll surely get back at you for this" she said and Shir
Power is always associated with trouble. Sometimes it is great enough to save us from trouble, sometimes it isn't. Sometimes it is so great that trouble can't get close and sometimes its greatness is the reason why trouble comes. Sometimes it's not about how you use it, sometimes it's about the power itself. The mere existence of a certain power could stir up fear, awe, hatred and envy depending on who percieved it and how they do. "My power is supposed to kind that helps me escape trouble" Victor said to himself as he drove through an empty road with nothing but desert on both sides. "But unfortunately" he said with a sigh "I'm stuck with a lot of trouble magnets" "What a drag" It wasn't long before the lonely house in the middle of nowhere came into view but it wasn't the only thing in sight. What was seen was both scary and magnificent. A lone cowboy stood in front of the house and before him was a fresh field of corpses that spread far around the hou
