the nature of Kojiro's ability was was quite simple. he had the ability to create highly impenetrable barriers in front of and around anything, but this great power had a huge flaw that many people knew. the barriers were so powerful that nothing except breathable air could pass through them, not even the transmission waves of magical energy, and it was worked from both inside and outside. so if Kojiro were to cover himself in the barrier, he would gain the ultimate protection but he would be unable to cover others, and if he covered others, he would be unable to cover himself. in this situation he chose the latter and put the safety of the school first.
"so you're the barrier expert." Joe said as he walked towards Kojiro who slowly backed away and began to run. Joe was very built and strong with high endurance, but Kojiro was a lot faster with home ground advantage and he was quite dexterous. with just hand-to-hand combat,he was able to knock out a few hunters in the way while running from Joe without slowing down. the chase continued until Kojiro hit a dead end and Joe caught up with him.
"There's no where to run now, any last words?" Joe said, as he majestically walked towards Kojiro. But Kojiro had no fear or any form of regret showing on his face, instead it was relief and a little noticeable joy.
"Look around you, what do you see?" Kojiro asked with a heavy breath, as he stopped panting and raised his head to look at the the embodiment of strength standing in front of him.
Joe was confused by the question he had just been asked. he looked around and all he could see was an outdoor basketball court surrounded by a cage which he gave as an answer but was replied with "no, not that, look again".
"I ain't got time for this sh*t" Joe said as he charged up a punch and launched it at Kojiro, but to his greatest surprise, his fist was unable to reach Kojiro; instead it was blocked by a small rectangular barrier just before it could hit Kojiro's face.
"the answer is that if you look around, we are the only ones here and there's no need to hold back." Kojiro said, as he smiled and gave Joe a little touch that sent him flying to one end of the court. now Joe was confused on weather to ask how the barrier works or how he was sent flying.
However, Mia was still battling hunters in front of the Anderson residence. It was already difficult for her to face off against a single pro, yet she had to deal with fifty of them while keeping Dave away from danger.
Another issue was the guy know as "double dagger".he was the most capable man among all the hunters that surrounded the Anderson residence. well versed in the art of the sword, he wielded a Daisho which both blades were short; hence his nickname. not only that, he was fast, at least fast enough to get to Mia in her weakened state.
If she was at full strength, Mia may have had a chance to get rid of of all the nuisances in front of her, "double dagger" may had been less of a problem, and things would have been settled before Dave even woke up. but that was not the case. she was unable to manifest the amount of swords she needed, her movements were slow even for her, and she felt she was not used to her own body.
She had somehow managed to remain in battle with just minor injuries, and defeated half of the crew. If this was a videogame, all she had to do was to keep at it until she finally beat all them. but unfortunately she didn't have that videogame stamina, and there was no way pause either, but the 'esc' option was very available.
With little hesitation, Mia darted into the house and ran straight upstairs in Dave's direction. she had the feeling that if she left him alone, the hunters' focus would be redirected to him and he would be easily captured, so she had to take him along with her.
But as soon she stepped into Dave's room, there was a sight to behold. He was surrounded by lightning, his eyes were lit up, and his hair could no longer succumb to gravity. To put it simply, he was like an older version of Shiro.
while Mia was still dumbfounded by what she saw, the hunters rushed in to attack, but before any of them could get close to Mia, they were all on the floor, passed out and unable to move. even double dagger was among them.
Mia was too surprised by what just transpired. "there's no way that was Dave" she muttered to herself. deep down she could not accept her own explanation of what the f*** just happened, so she turned to Dave and asked "who are you?" with a little fear behind her voice.
The answer she got made everything clear and she finally understood the situation. all Dave said before walking away was
"I am the one they're really looking for "
and she immediately knew that it was Shin that spoke to her.
Meanwhile back in the school's basketball court, Kojiro was in a stalemate battle with Joe. It was a repetitive pattern of just blocking and pushing back, and it had been going on since the fight started. Kojiro knew that he couldn't keep the same routine for long, especially with someone like Joe as his opponent.
as the battle progressed, Joe was steadily growing in power, and it was becoming harder for Kojiro to push him away. If this continued any further, Kojiro's luck would have ran out.
Just after the hardest push since the beginning of the battle, Kojiro received a message from the school that he could lower the barriers he had around the students.
Immediately Kojiro answered "thank you" and turned to continue the fight, no one needed to tell Joe that sh*t just got real. The atmosphere of the court was drastically changed.
Joe no longer had time to spare. he knew that if he didn't act fast, he was as good as dead. so with all his might and energy he charged towards his fearsome opponent in an attempt to end it all in one strike.
They say sticks are stronger when bound together, but a bunch of tied sticks would do nothing against a well sharpened blade. This was basically the kind of situation Joe was in. he gathered all of his energy and dashed towards Kojiro, but he was stopped before he could even make it halfway across the court and was met with a barrage of slashes that came from Kojiro's miniature paper like barriers surrounded that him on all sides just before he lost consciousness.
Rin and Cypher remained in their initial positions, both pointing their weapons at each other. Rin had a Shin Sekai laser gun, which was known to be powerful. It had the looks of a revolver pistol but it was surely way faster and more powerful. on the other hand, Cypher had right his index finger. it didn't seem powerful at first, but as both of them fired and evaded, it proved to be much more effective than Rin's pistol. With just his index finger, Cypher was capable of mass destruction and rapid fire. Rin wasn't even getting a little chance for a return fire. all she could do was run, evade and frequently use energy shields to block the incoming shots. "This is going to be quite easy" Cypher thought as he added his left Index finger to the equation. but this thought was quickly overturned when Rin pulled out a laser cannon from what seemed to be nowhere. Cypher was hit by two things; a strong laser beam, and great deal of shock. he could block the beam but the shock hi
The battles in both Shiro's house and school were settled. but let's not forget that some hunters were sent to his favourite restaurant (Tanaka's). In the words of Yamato who was there, "not really much happened". but when someone says such a thing while scratching his head and looking away from the questionnaire, it becomes evident that a whole lot went down. It was a rare sunny day unlike the other days that Fubuki island lived up to its name(Fubuki means snow storm). On days like this, a lot of people loved be outdoors, it also meant that a lot of people ate outdoors on days like this, and restaurants gained a lot more customers than usual. Tanaka's restaurant always took advantage of this and so did Yamato. He was was skipping school to run a whole day shift. the apparent reason was because other employees also wanted to get a feel of the rare warmth that came with the day, but the real reason was because of money. If he could could cover for his colleagues he would get th
While all the battles took place, Shiro was lying on a park bench staring at the eternal tower in front of him. it was called eternal because no one could really tell how old it was. even scientifically it was seen as something that was just recently built, but in reality it was present even before the island's discovery. it was even stated in the old tales of Nihon. no one knew the history of this tower and Shiro wondered "am I so bored that I'm thinking of this right now?" After that question, it didn't take long for his boredom came to an end. His situation got a transition from bored to endangered really quickly with the arrival of an unexpected person. Shiro didn't think, he didn't even stop to quiver in fear or come up with a plan. He immediately turned his back and ran. He just wasn't ready to die twice. from the perspective of normal people, the wind blew briefly, but from Shiro's point of view, it was a chase that lasted about twenty minutes in relative time and yet
In accordance to Victor's predictions, Shiro began to experience his opponent grow in strength. In a comparison of actual strength and energy levels, Shiro would have no problem defeating the armored man but the circumstances surrounding the postponement spell makes it difficult. It was as if the universe itself would do anything to keep the man alive until his fated battle began. It didn't matter how weak he was everyone that wasn't his opponent would be made weaker. As the exchange of blows continued, so did Endo's growth in Strength. Shiro was still landing solid blows but he kept getting back up like a "shonen MC" while Shiro kept his usual pace. soon enough, Endo's counter attacks began but Shiro was yet to be in danger. He stepped up pace, becoming more agile and delivering a double counter. "you're not the only one that can move abnormally" he said with a smile "now come at me you age old anomaly" Shiro had little hesitation in his movements, instead he
"Why noww?, why now?" for some reason, Tanaka's car seemed to be facing some major technical difficulties. She had turned the key multiple times but the engine wouldn't even cough. "Why aren't you using a Shin Sekai brand?" Yamato asked out of curiosity. Tanaka's restaurant was quite successful and it didn't didn't seem like she was financially lacking. Also, Shin Sekai products were very affordable and much more efficient than others. The reason she chose to distance herself from them was not something one could easily guess. "It's a long story" she answered as she opened the bonnet and started looking for what was wrong with the car. It didn't take long before Tanaka started panicking. "Oh no no no no no no" "what's it?" Yamato asked "It's fried" she answered "what's fried?" Yamato asked "everything....everything's fried" she replied in panic it didn't take Yamato long to guess that the cause of the breakdown wasn't just due to poor quality "this was a sab
As Orie watched Shin, he heard the voices of the gods saying "Time up. It's his turn now." and the markings on body faded away. Then he snapped his fingers and was immediately dressed like his normal self with the overcoat and scarf and backed away. Shin grabbed Endo and jumped out of the pit then put him in a sitting position and said to him "I need you to listen to me" The rage inside Endo was too much. there was no way he was going to comply with the man that massacred his entire kingdom but that wasn't the only reason. Everyone; including Shin found it strange that throughout the entire ordeal, he didn't utter any word. If anyone was as enraged as Endo was he would have at least let out some the rage verbally and even if his mind was in disarray, a thousand years alone was quite enough to come up with a meticulous plan to exact his revenge. But for some reason every decision Endo made so far was crude as if he didn't even care about revenge. It was as if his objective was to
"magic, supernatural abilities, superpowers, talents, quirks... we call it many things depending on where we come from, what we learned and how it rolls off the tongue. Those who have it cultivate it and integrate into their daily lives, those who don't have it sometimes study it, but the question that is asked on both sides is the question of its origin. hardly anyone in the world knows the origin of this thing we call 'magic' people have studied and searched but to no avail. there is no culture on earth that has any records of its origin. this was baffling to the archeologists, something that was so significant had no story that spoke of its origin. Human beings have searched without rest for an answer that I have. all they have to do is ask any priest but they don't want 'superstitious' answers. what they do not understand is that those 'superstitious' answers are true facts so they wallow in their answerless search." 01011000, 10000101, 01-01-1000, 1000-01-01. The one thing all these numbers have in common is the memory that they trigger (and also the fact that they're binary but that's not the issue). once someone comes in contact with any of them, they are immediately reminded of the beginning of recorded history. one day the entire world gained what was perceived as free will. they never felt chained or forced against their will before then but after that day, they felt like they were finally able to do what they truly wanted. This led to a whole year's worth of chaos and was the first ever recorded event in history. events before that time could not be recorded because there was hardly anyone with memories of them and no one knew why(generally speaking). It was also a wonder why there were no records of the past before then but there was no record to depend on to tell why there was no record. In the end the chaotic year was dubbed the year of oblivion and everyone one went on with
