A plan

Chapter: A plan.

A Chandelier hung loosely and emitted a dim orange light in the hazy night. The light from the streets was diffused, making one feel sleepy.

Beside the Chandelier was a bar that was already closed. A 'Thank you sign was hung on the door, and the surroundings were quiet.

After a day's hard work, the residents nearby had already entered slumber in their tiredness. Even the drunkards, tramps, and the likes have found their cozy kennel, not intending on sleeping outside the streets in this cold and bone-chilling weather.

At this moment, the sound of leather boots rubbing against the ground echoed out through the area. A tall figure walked out of thin air, coming before the door and knocking on it rhythmically.

# THUD, THUD, THUD

The dull sound carried a unique rhythm and charm.

The door creaked open, seemingly on its own accord, the tall figure pushed it open and walked through it.

The strong smell of alcohol and liquor permeated the room, it was the first smell that assaulted this man's nose.

"Lord Parker, you're late" A husky and intimidating voice sounded out.

"I apologize, I had some very important business to attend to but I'm here now, ain't I?" The dark figure's voice sounds extremely cold, even seemingly more than the dead winter outside.

"Hahahaha, please come sit" A very compelling tone carrying a strange charm, dulling all senses.

Parker snorted out coldly.

"Greenwood, still practicing that Dream force technique?" Parker chuckled and walked over to a black-robed figure.

At a table set at the corner of the room, a black-robed figure looked at Parker, two balls of red light constantly emitting from its eyes, the red light dimmed but not disappearing.

"I couldn't help it. Wanted to see if you're still your old self" Greenwood spoke with a smile.

Parker found a chair and sat down leisurely at Greenwood's table, the other people around the room acted as if they didn't see or hear the conversation between these two.

"So I had your invite. What's it about?" Parker shot straight to the point.

"Always straight as usual. I won't beat around the bush, I wish to kill the president!" Greenwood's voice carried a bloodthirsty tone to it, from it, one could imagine, the amount of suffering he had endured.

"Eeeeee?!!! Have you gone mad?!!" Parker shrieked and blurted out.

Greenwood merely chuckled and narrowed his eyes.

"Of course, I have always been mad but I have a plan this time" Greenwood let out a laugh.

"You maniac, you do know how powerful the president is? He's more powerful than those measly ministers and the likes you kill for breakfast"

Parker continued "And funny enough, have you ever wondered why he hasn't retaliated and killed you personally yet?" Parker was a bit puzzled.

Everyone was, Greenwood had wantonly killed most of the officials and people personally under the administration of the president and the president himself hadn't acted or made any move to exterminate this vile creature.

This is very unusual because everyone knew how the President rose to power, the way was paved with blood and bones, simply put, the president was ruthless and it's unlike his character to turn blind eye to someone blatantly challenging his authority, even going so far as killing his cabinet and yet, there hasn't been a reaction.

"That's because he's at the weakest point in his cultivation. I have already received Intel on the President before I even started my killing spree and this is why I invited you here" Greenwood's voice turned cold and frightening.

The dimmed light emitting from his eyes flared with his change in emotion.

"The president is weak? Regardless, this is someone having a RED tattoo. Even their weakest point is enough to casually exterminate us two" Parker spoke thoughtfully.

"Two? Hahaha, no, no. I have also invited some friends over. Come!" Greenwood stood up and disappeared into a door at the corner.

'Friends? I hope, you know what you're doing, Green'

Parker thought but there wasn't the slightest hesitation in his movement, he quickly followed Greenwood, walking into a descending stair, the further they got, the more an oppressive aura grew stronger, causing the energy particles to grow sluggish. This caused a change in the expression on Parker's face

Greenwood turned and noticed the slight change in Parker's expression and chuckled.

"Don't fret. It's just the body of a ten thousand years old red tattoo'er, I acquired in an expedition. Its aura can block off any sensory ways and that includes a fellow red tattoo'er although the person can still break through we would have known by then, so it blocks off the president spying on us" Greenwood spoke reassuringly, there was a hint of killing intent in his eyes.

Parker's expression slightly eased up but this was a facade, he was already calculating how he would escape if Greenwood dared to attack here afterall, even though he's friends with the man, everyone knows, Greenwood is just as ruthless as the President, if not even more and he wasn't willing to bet his life on him.

Parker quickly composed himself and touched the necklace hanging loosely on his neck, it's warmth gave him a sense of security.

After taking a step passed the twisting stairs, different balls of light lit up the underground room, a thick stench of blood and gore assaulted Parker's nose.

"How lovely, you brought another one" A taunting yet pleasing voice sounded out, revealing a voluptuous woman.

This woman's eyes seemed, they could hold the stars in it's dark and bottomless depths, surprisingly enough, her body was shimmering with the color gold, making her look like a god of war. A faint image of an ephemeral snake surged into existence behind her. The domineering and arrogant feels of an Apex predator sent chills into the hearts of the onlooker, it bared it's fang at Parker.

Parker was slightly taken aback, the aura emanating from this woman is not in the slightest bit weaker than his own.

'A silver ranker!'

Parker coldly snorted and expanded his aura, an illusionary image of the starry sky descended into the surroundings. Different nebulae and stars shot out their lights, enveloping the place in it's brilliant rays and splendor, it effectively counterattacked the ephemeral snake.

Greenwood stood at the side and nodded in approval, the slight test in strength wasn't a bad approach, afterall, there can't be any dead weights in this mission and his people needs to be aware of that.

The gold colored woman roared with laughter and the snake image behind her disappeared, she raised her hands up in defeat.

"You win. Seems, Greenwood really selected the best of the best" The woman spoke with a smile on her face, it was very pleasing to look at and just like her character.

Parker retracted his starry sky domain and dusted his robes, he straightened his back.

"I'm Parker. You are?" Parker extended his hand for a handshake.

The earlier bout didn't change anything to him, it was quite regular for cultivators to feel out their allies and know how powerful they are especially in this mission.

"I am Sharon. Pleased to meet you, young lad" Sharon shook his hand without a care.

"Enough already! Greenwood, can you start the plan? The president won't be this weak forever" A voice that sounded as if two metals were rubbing against each other sounded out.

An illusionary figure bathed in white, a gold crown hung on it's head and an extremely cold and freezing energy emanating from it, infact, the ground cracked apart and was covered in layers among layers of ice underneath it's foot. Strangely, enough, it was floating in the air, it's eyeless head gave it an eerie and horrifying appearance.
