Serving revenge

At the great assassins' base in the middle of bodma forest in Sapa Nation.

In a room full of lanterns of different colors, arranged in rows on shelves on the walls in this large room. All the lamps were lit and a fire was dancing on each of the lanterns in this room.

A little guy was walking around the room, inspecting every lamp in the room. He'll walk around the room every hour to check the lamps for any signs of abnormality and report to his superiors if there are any.

As he was inspecting the room, a bright lamp at the top of the shelf suddenly flickered twice before going off. Seeing this, the little guy quickly rushed to report to his superior.

"What?!! The young master's soul lamp went off. How did you do it, or you didn't check very well?

Quick!! Lead the way, I must see it with my own eyes. " the supervisor panicked and rushed to the soul room.

When they entered the soul room, all soul lamps were burning with blue flames while one of the lamps at the top of the shelf was emitting white smoke (a piece of evidence that it just went off)…it'll be in that state for two hours before the smoke completely disappears.

A life lamp is a sacred tool used to monitor the life and death of all assassins at the green rank and above, especially those who were sent on a mission.

Once an assassin achieved a breakthrough to become a green ranker, a tiny part of their soul would be cut and mixed with other ingredients, then placed inside the soul lamp, it is the soul of the said assassin that will serve as fuel for the lamp to continue burning.

The lamp will never cease burning unless the owner of the lamp was killed in body and soul.

Three days after the massacre…

The government invited all the newsmen in the cultivation world, to shed more light on the issue of the bloody arrows on the ground and the people who disappeared.

"Hello fellow sapaites, my name is Raymond Jango, and you all know the post that I held in the government of this great nation…sigh…it is a very disheartening thing to hear the news that your citizens disappeared mysteriously overnight…sobs…but it is also heartbreaking enough that the citizens we've been serving for thousands of years failed to put their trust in us—The government--

I wouldn't even think that you'll doubt the government for a second, with everything we've done for the progress of this great nation.

" The reason why you could find arrows lying on the ground is that sigh!! We didn't want to release this news before, but you left us no choice but to tell you what truly happened three days ago.

We found traces of the slave traders and bandits six days ago and we traced them here, by the time we reached here, the bandits had already captured most of the victims and a few of them were killed and they'd already left the site before we got there.

We chased them from leitti to billand but we couldn't capture them and we were threatened with the lives of the hostages in their hands so we had no choice but to compromise.

The arrows on the ground is a proof of battle with the slave traders, we managed to kill right of them while the others escaped with the hostages.

" We'll make sure to search the whole Nation and comb every nook and cranny for signs of illegal spirit stone mines and the slave trade.

Put your mind at ease, we're working on it and we've been seeing progress so far…thank you."

The army general dropped a lengthy speech and walked out off the stage, he was escorted back to his armored vehicle and drove off without stopping.

"the slave traders are back? God have mercy!! This nation is becoming something else, there's no how I wouldn't cross the river omiris and see what good life lies on the other side of the Sea…sigh…"

"it is good to daydream sometimes. That brother at the front, with what strength are you going to cross the raging Sea? A mere yellow ranker dreaming of life on the other side…ptui!!!"

Shamelessness knows no bounds indeed, even the silver rankers didn't dare to dream of crossing the raging Sea because of what lies within the Sea, the dangers of the sea monsters.

To cross the sea, you'll need four things; a good cultivation rank, a good ship, an excellent crew, and a brave heart…"

Discussions were going on everywhere in the Nation, people are dropping their opinions on what happened. Some believed the army general, others didn't believe, and that gave rise to a debate.

"The government is lying, they were the ones who attacked the protesters, my daughter called me when everything has scattered and she told me that it was the army who attacked them __sobs__ she died an unnatural death, murdered by those bastard soldiers…"

"Though non of my family members or friends went there I'm still suspecting the government."

While they were talking, a middle-aged man rushed out of the crowd and started attacking the soldiers controlling the crowd like a madman.

" you said it was the work of the slave traders, but my son survived the attack and said it was the government who did that to him…he has a sword wound in his chest, now tell me, did he trip and fall on the sword?"

The man was dragged off to God knows where, and after some time, unknown swordsmen invaded his house and killed his son.

Months after the massacre…

Strange things kept happening in the country, people starts to disappear mysteriously, high-ranking members were killed by unknown swordsmen and all the blames was pushed on the slave traders.

Funny thing is that those officials who disappeared and were killed by the unknown swordsmen had a hand or two in the massacre that took place one month ago.

The whole country was still doing well...not until a letter surfaced from the president's office.

My dear president,

How have you been? How's family? (I wished they were all alive to witness your death).

I don't know when or how, but I'll be visiting that office of yours very soon. I'm not coming there to play or dine with you, but I'll recommend you to someone else in the underworld, and take care of you on my behalf.

Unknown swordsmen.
