“Your husband! You know what he did? He knew my colleagues were coming for lunch and mixed salt in the carrot milk pudding,” Selena yelled, even at the cost of making the pain in her nose spike. “They spat the dessert out of their mouths. I lost my face in front of my friends! All thanks to that statue standing before you!”

Rebecca’s eyes enlarged upon hearing her mother’s words. She turned her head toward her husband who looked almost just as shocked as her. “Why did you—”

“I didn’t do it,” Benjamin was quick to deny this time.

“Of course, you would say that,” Selena growled. “Why would you accept doing something so evil? You want to keep acting like you’re the prince charming in front of my daughter, after all. You’re too obvious.”

Rebecca kept staring at Benjamin without blinking. “You didn’t do it?”

“I really didn’t do it, I swear,” Benjamin put weight into his voice. “Why would I mix salt in the dessert I spent so much effort to make? Does that make any sense?”
