Aftermath

Stepping into his house, Luke quickly opened the bags he had stolen from the guards' bodies and emptied their contents on the floor. He had suffered internal injuries that needed to be treated soon so as not to leave sequels.

Although his Core had also been affected, it wasn't something considerable thanks to how robust he was. Treating his internal injuries was the most important thing.

Luke ignored all the money and items inside the bags, focusing on finding medicinal pills. He spotted a few and swallowed them as if they were nothing.

Given his previous cultivation level, he had consumed very powerful medicinal pills, so he had some immunity to lower quality pills. Thus, although the amount he consumed could have killed a First Rank cultivator, for Luke they were only enough to close and stabilize the wounds he had suffered.

"Damn it, I need to get higher quality medicinal pills no matter what. Now that my plan is in motion, I'll have to expose myself to great dangers and fight with cultivators above my current level. These junk pills are nothing but candy to me."

Luke couldn't help but frown. Right now, the first seal was only 70% weakened, so he was at an obvious disadvantage. He could relatively easily assassinate cultivators at that level using the surprise factor, but a direct confrontation meant consuming almost all his World Energy.

Although his darkness element spells required him to use less World Energy, there might be too many loose ends left. Before executing his plan, he had decided to only use fire element spells in Ludwit City, unless he found himself in a desperate situation.

He knew that Tristan would sooner or later discover that the drunken Luke was a facade. Therefore, in order to hide his identity, he had decided to create an alter ego. Luke would be a cultivator of the fire element who helped Adam from the shadows, who at the same time had a strange relationship with the Doira Royal Family....

But that was a matter of the future, now there were more important things to worry about.

"The first step is taken, but I won't be able to do anything for a week while I get my World Energy back. I must assassinate Tilly and Aaron, but I'll need to go to Rotten Valley to get the necessary materials. They have a guard at the Second Rank guarding them all day and when I assassinate one, doing the same to the other will be much more difficult."

Luke's plan was to create as much chaos as possible within the Rockwell Family. To do this, he would eliminate the two weakest descendants one by one. Although assassinating both at the same time would be quicker, it would put Adam in a very dangerous position.

In addition, the Rockwell Family would naturally think that these provocative acts were the doing of the rival families. With each assassination, the security around the descendants would increase, so no one would be suspicious at all about the possibility that someone was helping Adam.

"Let's see if there's anything I can use in the guards' bags. It won't be much, but anything can help me at this point."

With this in mind, Luke went through the things that had fallen to the floor. There he found 12 spirit stones, some cultivation pills, and Magical Beast leftovers.

However, he didn't pay much attention to it, instead focusing on the item that made his eyes sparkle. It was a water element Beast Core, which was worth about 30 spirit stones.

In the A-Rank and B-Rank Kingdoms the currency accepted by cultivators was spirit stones, while in the four great kingdoms the Great Amethyst Empire's currency, the amethyst coin, was used.

Although during these past three years Luke had robbed countless people, he practically had only gold coins, which were worthless in the eyes of the cultivators. Luckily, he had managed to steal 17 spirit stones, so added to the ones he got from the guards he had enough to buy the necessary materials.

His expenses would grow exponentially over the next six months, but he would use Adam to finance his plans. Hunting Magical Beasts in the Rotten Valley could bring great profit if done the right way.

"I now have 29 spirit stones, so I have enough to buy the basic ingredients for the poison. However, as soon as I recover, I'll have to go to the Rotten Valley to find the missing ingredient. Why the hell am I still stuck at this level? A simple fight means I can't do anything for a week."

When he thought about this, Luke couldn't help but punch the wall heavily out of frustration. How could someone who had always arrogantly walked all over the Aurora Continent not feel angry in this situation?

"Phew, I need to relax. Now, more than ever, is that I need to keep a cool head. One wrong step and it's all over. I underestimated the situation a while ago and almost ruined everything. I better go to sleep and get some rest."

He took the water element Beast Core and stored it in a hiding place on the floor of his house and then headed to his room to rest for what was coming.

...

Meanwhile, in one of the halls of Rockwell Manor.

"Talbon, explain to me once and for all how all this happened. It's been several hours since those three fools disappeared. You'd better give me a good explanation!"

Talbon, who was the guard in the Second Rank, was kneeling in front of Vince Rockwell, one of the patriarch's three offspring.

Although the three guards were not important in the power structure of the Rockwell Family, they had abandoned their duties out of greed. This was an unforgivable act of disobedience.

"Sir, those three suddenly broke away from us to chase after that cultivator who set fire to the tents. I swear I don't know anything else; they probably took the money and ran away. I didn't follow them because that could have endangered your daughter's life." Talbon replied with determination, he knew he had to stand strong on his side of the story or the consequences would be enormous.

"Hmph, do you really think I'm a dumbass? I'll give you one last chance, and you better tell the truth. It's clear that that cultivator was very weak, and those fools got a good loot. If you keep protecting them, I'll make you pay..." Through Vince's eyes flashed a ruthless light.

"Sir, everything I say is true. I have been serving the Rockwell Family for years, I would never do such a foolish thing!"

Just as Vince had lost his temper and was about to attack him, a butler came rushing into the hall.

"My Lord, I have just received news. Some customers at the Piggy Bar found three completely charred bodies, it' s almost certain that they belong to the three guards."

Talbon couldn't help but feel relieved in his heart. Although they had died and he would receive punishment for it, it wasn't comparable to what he would have faced if they had opened their mouths.

"What? Take me there and keep this news from my father. I'll go inspect the place first." Vince had always thought the guards had decided to escape. The possibility that they were dead had never crossed his mind.

He could already imagine his father's reprimands when he finds out. It had been years since anyone from the main families, even if it was just a guard, had died inside Ludwit City. This whole thing was a big headache.

Vince didn't bother to use his carriage, and immediately went to oversee the scene along with Talbon. Since the event had occurred near the outskirts of the city, it took him about 20 minutes to arrive.

There, he saw a crowd gathered around the alley. There were many witnesses to what had happened in the afternoon, so it was impossible to hide the relationship of the bodies with the Rockwell Family. Therefore, he pushed the people aside and approached the Justice Supervisor that the Doira Royal Family had assigned to the city.

"Supervisor Alan, what happened here? I believe the people killed here belong to my family's guards." His voice contained a hint of respect. Although both were in the initial stage of the Third Rank, Alan Baldwin was an emissary assigned by the royals, so it was necessary to maintain a certain amount of respect to avoid trouble.

"Oh, so they really are from the Rockwell Family. Head to the back of the alley and see for yourself." Alan replied nonchalantly.

Vince nodded and headed to where the bodies laid along with Talbon. When they saw the scene, both showed expressions of disgust.

In a place like Ludwit City where fights with Magical Beasts were commonplace, death was even more so. However, the scene shocked them nonetheless.

There was blood everywhere, and the bodies were nothing more than skeletons with chunks of flesh. It was truly brutal.

"There's not much we can do, that person knew very well what he was doing and left nothing to fate. He probably did this as a message to not try looking for him, but if you want to do so I can only tell you that he is a fire element cultivator capable of using an Advanced Grade spell. The Justice Department will not intervene as it is an act of self-defense." With that, Alan turned and left the place along with his subordinates.

"Talbon, take care of identifying who each body belongs to and hand them over to their families. This time I'll believe your story because I have more important issues but if it happens again, I'll kill you with my own hands." Vince didn't want to linger any longer in this alley that smelled like burnt flesh and headed for Rockwell Manor.

`Luckily, my father is cultivating to get to the Fourth Rank and asked not to be disturbed. My brothers are desperate to find any weaknesses and benefit their children. Although Tilly has no chance of becoming the patriarch, Randolf does. I hope nothing else happens during these six months..."
