"And so?" Ryan asked.

"What?"

Ryan leaned closer to her, his voice almost in a whisper. "Are you trying to tell me I'm the one who would have taken something from the safe?"

"Are you also trying to tell me someone from my family could have taken it? My brother?  One of my uncles? What are you getting at Ryan?"

Ryan laughed. He filled a cup on the table and drank from it. Slowly, he set the cup down and looked at her.

"Let this be the last time you call me for your family problems." He lowered his voice, "if you have any problem, sort it out with your family."

Stephanie swallowed hard. It's become crystal clear that this is a wrong idea. If all evidence that she is running crazy hasn't been enough, then this is enough.
