Chapter 002

Victor's expression changed to be a little worried when he heard Arnold reveal his behavior.

"I know that you must be jealous of him! Stop talking nonsense and get out of here!” Rachel exclaimed while gesturing for Arnold to leave.

Victor smiled proudly to find Rachel still defending him. He believed his good looks and wealth could cover up his bad behavior.

“I swear, Rachel, he's definitely just playing with you.” Arnold's eyes were sparkling with tears, he was so worried about Rachel, even though she had betrayed him. "If you choose to leave me with another man, then I will accept it. But I assure you that Victor will only play with you."

"Your father will definitely be sad if he sees you with a jerk like him!" shouted Arnold while pointing his finger at Victor.

“Shut up, you useless man!” Victor snapped. "Come on, Rachel, I'm so disgusted to see a loser like him." He grabbed Rachel's hand and was about to take her away from there.

With bold steps and an angry look, Arnold approached Victor and grabbed the man's hand, then landed a punch on his face.

Rachel was shocked and screamed hysterically. "Hey, please don't let that loser hurt Victor!"

Arnold grabbed Victor by the collar and threw the man's body in any direction, until Victor's body fell onto a table and damaged several things there.

“I won't let you live!” Arnold shouted as he walked towards Victor, but before he reached him, Victor's bodyguard immediately grabbed him.

"Let me go! Let me beat up that bastard! How dare he have a relationship with my wife!”

“Shut up, or you will suffer the consequences!” Victor's bodyguard grabbed Arnold's hand roughly, making Arnold groan in pain.

“Are you ready to face death after this, loser? A useless person like you could easily be eliminated by the Galvoir family," one of the bodyguards who was holding Arnold's hand whispered to him.

The hair on Arnold's body bristled, but he was not afraid of the threat. One thing Arnold was thinking about was the will of the late Mr. Liam Aderwine—Rachel's father, the man who has looked after him since he was 12 years old.

He was a kind man who had helped Arnold when he almost died in the middle of a snowstorm, right after he was thrown out of his adoptive parents' house.

The late Mr. Liam always wanted that in the future, his beloved daughter would marry a sincere man who loved her. He felt traumatized seeing his mother, who was always hurt and cheated on repeatedly by his father. That's why the late Mr. Liam asked Arnold to marry his daughter, because he believed Arnold was the right man for Rachel.

“Amelie, quickly bring my bag here!” Rachel ordered her assistant. She put her hands on her hips, waiting for Amelie to come to her.

Amelie rushed to give the bag to Rachel. Rachel's gaze turned to Arnold. She stepped closer to him.

"Let me go!" Arnold rebelled and asked to be let go, but the big men would not comply.

Rachel stopped in her tracks right in front of Arnold, and she was seen taking something out of her bag.

"Let him go!" Rachel ordered Victor's bodyguards. They obeyed Rachel's orders.

Arnold looked puzzled to see his wife. Seeing Arnold's expression asking for clarification, Rachel didn't want to waste her time. She showed me the paper she was holding and said, “Arnold, look at this! This is a divorce letter, and I want you to sign it now!” Rachel ordered.

"What?" Arnold frowned.

Rachel rolled her eyes as she sighed. "Actually, I wanted to give you this divorce letter when I came home, but seeing you here, I think this is the right time to show it to you," she said, shrugging her shoulders.

Arnold shook his head. "No, I don't want to sign it."

Rachel grabbed Arnold's hand and placed the pen on his hand. “Quick, Arnold! Don't waste my time! Do you think I would be happy marrying a useless man like you? Not at all, Arnold! I don't want to spend the rest of my life with a man like you," she protested.

Rachel's words were like a sword that pierced Arnold's heart. The man just looked at Rachel sadly, but his heart still insisted on keeping his marriage.

Arnold sighed and snatched the divorce papers from Rachel's hands.

Rachel smiled happily because that meant Arnold was willing to sign it. She folded her hands on her stomach while watching Arnold.

Arnold read the divorce letter briefly, then immediately tore it into pieces.

"What are you doing?" Rachel shouted at him; she didn't expect Arnold to tear up the divorce letter.

“Keep dreaming Rachel, that I will sign the divorce letter. You will always be my wife!" shouted Arnold, who then walked away from there, leaving Rachel, who continued to scream at him.

Arnold ignored Rachel's voice and continued walking. He acted as if he were deaf that second.

“You fool, how dare you defy me! Who do you think you are? I never thought of you as my husband, and you don't have any rights regarding me." Rachel ran after Arnold, but Victor immediately stopped her.

"You don't need to chase him, honey," said Victor in a soft voice.

"But he didn't want to sign the divorce letter. This can't be allowed, I don't want to live with him forever." Rachel let out a frustrated sigh, conveying her complaints.

Victor chuckled. "That won't happen, because soon you will marry me," he responded.

Rachel frowned. She snorted. “How can I marry you if he won't sign the divorce letter?”

Victor pulled one corner of his lips, and he grinned. “It's a very easy thing. Come on, what's something Victor Galvoir can't do?”

Victor got closer to Rachel and whispered to her. “I don't want my pride to fall by dealing with a loser like him. I don't want to attack him openly. I will send my subordinates later to teach him a lesson and force him to sign the divorce letter.”

Rachel nodded and glanced at Victor with a smile.

"Now we better continue with our proposal," said Victor, holding Rachel's hand and inviting her back into the venue.

Arnold continued to walk away from there, but when he heard cheers from every corner, he stopped in his tracks and turned towards the venue. He saw, with his own eyes, Rachel and Victor hugging.

Even during their two years of marriage, Arnold never felt a hug from Rachel. The woman was very cold to him. She was willing to marry Arnold only to get an inheritance from her father. If Rachel refused, then the late Mr. Liam would donate his entire inheritance to the orphanage.

"I think they will be the hottest couple in the city."

"I think it was the right decision for Rachel Aderwine to leave that useless man."

“She is the luckiest woman.”

All the comments were flying from every angle. No one cared about Arnold's feelings there, so he decided to leave the hotel, even though his work shift had not yet finished.

“Arnold, stop!” Just as he was about to walk away, a voice called out to him. The manager rushed to him with furious steps.

“What's the matter?” Arnold asked, looking at the hotel manager without feeling anything wrong.

The manager snorted. “You're asking as if you didn't do anything.”

“Don't you realize your mistake? You already made a mess and broke some things.”

"But-"

The manager cut off Arnold's words before he finished talking.

“There's no excuse. Come to my room now!" the manager ordered. He deliberately told Arnold to come to his room because if Arnold was still there, he would only disturb the proposal.

Arnold had no other choice but to obey the manager's orders.

In the manager's room, the man handed Arnold a piece of paper.

“This is a breakdown of the damage you caused. You have to replace all of that.”

Arnold read the details of the fine on the paper, and his eyes immediately widened.

“Five thousand dollars?” Arnold's lips trembled at the mention of this amount.

"Yes. We are giving you 2 days to pay the fine; otherwise, we will report you to the police," threatened the manager.

Leon was stunned and stared at the paper while holding his head. “Five thousand dollars is a lot of money for me; can you give me more time?”

"No. We only give you two days, and if you can't pay it, you will settle it at the police station," he emphasized.

Arnold left the hotel empty-handed. He didn't get paid for his work tonight and instead had to pay a fine of $5,000. He walked around with a blank look, not knowing what he should do to earn that much money.

Until Arnold remembered his good friend, someone who always helped him, “Albert? I'll try to call him and ask him for help," said Arnold as he took his cell phone from his trouser pocket.

The call was connected.

"Hi Arnold, what's the matter?"

"Hey Albert, I need your help, if you don't mind about that," Arnold said hesitantly, because he was actually reluctant to ask his friend for help.

“Relax, Arnold. What can I do to help you?”

"Can you lend me 5,000 dollars?" Arnold asked.

"For what?"

“I can't explain everything now, but there was an incident at the hotel that made me have to pay a fine of 5,000 dollars. They gave me 2 days; if I can't pay it, then they will report me to the police.”

“Don't worry, I will lend you 5,000 dollars. When can we meet?" Albert asked.

“How about tonight?”

"Of course. I'm still at work now and will be home in a moment. We can meet in the park," said Albert.

"Okay, thank you, Albert."

“My pleasure.”

Arnold rushed to the park to wait for Albert there.

The atmosphere in the park was very quiet. There was no one there except Arnold. The man seemed to be contemplating and remembering all the bad events he experienced tonight. Tears pooled in the corners of his eyes.

"If I were rich, Rachel definitely wouldn't leave me," muttered Arnold.

A car stopped in front of him, making Arnold look up. He immediately wiped away the tears that were almost falling down his cheeks.

“Albert?” Arnold got up from his seat to greet his best friend.
