Victor's expression changed to be a little worried when he heard Arnold reveal his behavior.
"I know that you must be jealous of him! Stop talking nonsense and get out of here!” Rachel exclaimed while gesturing for Arnold to leave.
Victor smiled proudly to find Rachel still defending him. He believed his good looks and wealth could cover up his bad behavior.
“I swear, Rachel, he's definitely just playing with you.” Arnold's eyes were sparkling with tears, he was so worried about Rachel, even though she had betrayed him. "If you choose to leave me with another man, then I will accept it. But I assure you that Victor will only play with you."
"Your father will definitely be sad if he sees you with a jerk like him!" shouted Arnold while pointing his finger at Victor.
“Shut up, you useless man!” Victor snapped. "Come on, Rachel, I'm so disgusted to see a loser like him." He grabbed Rachel's hand and was about to take her away from there.
With bold steps and an angry look, Arnold approached Victor and grabbed the man's hand, then landed a punch on his face.
Rachel was shocked and screamed hysterically. "Hey, please don't let that loser hurt Victor!"
Arnold grabbed Victor by the collar and threw the man's body in any direction, until Victor's body fell onto a table and damaged several things there.
“I won't let you live!” Arnold shouted as he walked towards Victor, but before he reached him, Victor's bodyguard immediately grabbed him.
"Let me go! Let me beat up that bastard! How dare he have a relationship with my wife!”
“Shut up, or you will suffer the consequences!” Victor's bodyguard grabbed Arnold's hand roughly, making Arnold groan in pain.
“Are you ready to face death after this, loser? A useless person like you could easily be eliminated by the Galvoir family," one of the bodyguards who was holding Arnold's hand whispered to him.
The hair on Arnold's body bristled, but he was not afraid of the threat. One thing Arnold was thinking about was the will of the late Mr. Liam Aderwine—Rachel's father, the man who has looked after him since he was 12 years old.
He was a kind man who had helped Arnold when he almost died in the middle of a snowstorm, right after he was thrown out of his adoptive parents' house.
The late Mr. Liam always wanted that in the future, his beloved daughter would marry a sincere man who loved her. He felt traumatized seeing his mother, who was always hurt and cheated on repeatedly by his father. That's why the late Mr. Liam asked Arnold to marry his daughter, because he believed Arnold was the right man for Rachel.
“Amelie, quickly bring my bag here!” Rachel ordered her assistant. She put her hands on her hips, waiting for Amelie to come to her.
Amelie rushed to give the bag to Rachel. Rachel's gaze turned to Arnold. She stepped closer to him.
"Let me go!" Arnold rebelled and asked to be let go, but the big men would not comply.
Rachel stopped in her tracks right in front of Arnold, and she was seen taking something out of her bag."Let him go!" Rachel ordered Victor's bodyguards. They obeyed Rachel's orders.
Arnold looked puzzled to see his wife. Seeing Arnold's expression asking for clarification, Rachel didn't want to waste her time. She showed me the paper she was holding and said, “Arnold, look at this! This is a divorce letter, and I want you to sign it now!” Rachel ordered.
"What?" Arnold frowned.
Rachel rolled her eyes as she sighed. "Actually, I wanted to give you this divorce letter when I came home, but seeing you here, I think this is the right time to show it to you," she said, shrugging her shoulders.
Arnold shook his head. "No, I don't want to sign it."
Rachel grabbed Arnold's hand and placed the pen on his hand. “Quick, Arnold! Don't waste my time! Do you think I would be happy marrying a useless man like you? Not at all, Arnold! I don't want to spend the rest of my life with a man like you," she protested.
Rachel's words were like a sword that pierced Arnold's heart. The man just looked at Rachel sadly, but his heart still insisted on keeping his marriage.
Arnold sighed and snatched the divorce papers from Rachel's hands.
Rachel smiled happily because that meant Arnold was willing to sign it. She folded her hands on her stomach while watching Arnold.
Arnold read the divorce letter briefly, then immediately tore it into pieces.
"What are you doing?" Rachel shouted at him; she didn't expect Arnold to tear up the divorce letter.
“Keep dreaming Rachel, that I will sign the divorce letter. You will always be my wife!" shouted Arnold, who then walked away from there, leaving Rachel, who continued to scream at him.
Arnold ignored Rachel's voice and continued walking. He acted as if he were deaf that second.
“You fool, how dare you defy me! Who do you think you are? I never thought of you as my husband, and you don't have any rights regarding me." Rachel ran after Arnold, but Victor immediately stopped her.
"You don't need to chase him, honey," said Victor in a soft voice.
"But he didn't want to sign the divorce letter. This can't be allowed, I don't want to live with him forever." Rachel let out a frustrated sigh, conveying her complaints.
Victor chuckled. "That won't happen, because soon you will marry me," he responded.
Rachel frowned. She snorted. “How can I marry you if he won't sign the divorce letter?”
Victor pulled one corner of his lips, and he grinned. “It's a very easy thing. Come on, what's something Victor Galvoir can't do?”
Victor got closer to Rachel and whispered to her. “I don't want my pride to fall by dealing with a loser like him. I don't want to attack him openly. I will send my subordinates later to teach him a lesson and force him to sign the divorce letter.”
Rachel nodded and glanced at Victor with a smile.
"Now we better continue with our proposal," said Victor, holding Rachel's hand and inviting her back into the venue.
Arnold continued to walk away from there, but when he heard cheers from every corner, he stopped in his tracks and turned towards the venue. He saw, with his own eyes, Rachel and Victor hugging.
Even during their two years of marriage, Arnold never felt a hug from Rachel. The woman was very cold to him. She was willing to marry Arnold only to get an inheritance from her father. If Rachel refused, then the late Mr. Liam would donate his entire inheritance to the orphanage.
"I think they will be the hottest couple in the city."
"I think it was the right decision for Rachel Aderwine to leave that useless man."
“She is the luckiest woman.”
All the comments were flying from every angle. No one cared about Arnold's feelings there, so he decided to leave the hotel, even though his work shift had not yet finished.
“Arnold, stop!” Just as he was about to walk away, a voice called out to him. The manager rushed to him with furious steps.
“What's the matter?” Arnold asked, looking at the hotel manager without feeling anything wrong.
The manager snorted. “You're asking as if you didn't do anything.”
“Don't you realize your mistake? You already made a mess and broke some things.”
"But-"
The manager cut off Arnold's words before he finished talking.
“There's no excuse. Come to my room now!" the manager ordered. He deliberately told Arnold to come to his room because if Arnold was still there, he would only disturb the proposal.
Arnold had no other choice but to obey the manager's orders.
In the manager's room, the man handed Arnold a piece of paper.
“This is a breakdown of the damage you caused. You have to replace all of that.”
Arnold read the details of the fine on the paper, and his eyes immediately widened.
“Five thousand dollars?” Arnold's lips trembled at the mention of this amount.
"Yes. We are giving you 2 days to pay the fine; otherwise, we will report you to the police," threatened the manager.
Leon was stunned and stared at the paper while holding his head. “Five thousand dollars is a lot of money for me; can you give me more time?”
"No. We only give you two days, and if you can't pay it, you will settle it at the police station," he emphasized.
Arnold left the hotel empty-handed. He didn't get paid for his work tonight and instead had to pay a fine of $5,000. He walked around with a blank look, not knowing what he should do to earn that much money.
Until Arnold remembered his good friend, someone who always helped him, “Albert? I'll try to call him and ask him for help," said Arnold as he took his cell phone from his trouser pocket.
The call was connected.
"Hi Arnold, what's the matter?"
"Hey Albert, I need your help, if you don't mind about that," Arnold said hesitantly, because he was actually reluctant to ask his friend for help.
“Relax, Arnold. What can I do to help you?”
"Can you lend me 5,000 dollars?" Arnold asked.
"For what?"
“I can't explain everything now, but there was an incident at the hotel that made me have to pay a fine of 5,000 dollars. They gave me 2 days; if I can't pay it, then they will report me to the police.”
“Don't worry, I will lend you 5,000 dollars. When can we meet?" Albert asked.
“How about tonight?”
"Of course. I'm still at work now and will be home in a moment. We can meet in the park," said Albert.
"Okay, thank you, Albert."
“My pleasure.”
Arnold rushed to the park to wait for Albert there.
The atmosphere in the park was very quiet. There was no one there except Arnold. The man seemed to be contemplating and remembering all the bad events he experienced tonight. Tears pooled in the corners of his eyes.
"If I were rich, Rachel definitely wouldn't leave me," muttered Arnold.
A car stopped in front of him, making Arnold look up. He immediately wiped away the tears that were almost falling down his cheeks.
“Albert?” Arnold got up from his seat to greet his best friend.
Several men dressed all in black got out of the car. Arnold's expression immediately changed when he saw that the person who had just arrived was not Albert. With swift steps, they immediately arrested Arnold and forced him into the car.“Who are you? Why did you arrest me?” Arnold struggled, trying to escape.“Shut up!”They covered Arnold's mouth and lifted his body to get into the car. In just a short time, they managed to catch Arnold and take him away from there. Not long after, Albert arrived there. He got out of the car and looked around to look for Arnold.“Arnold! Are you here?” Albert exclaimed. "Where is he going? Isn't he here yet?” He didn't see anyone in the park.Albert took his cell phone and called Arnold.Arnold's cell phone, which was in his trouser pocket, rang. One of the men took the cell phone to see who was calling Arnold.“Albert?”“Let me talk to him! Please, give me the phone!” implored Arnold.Instead of giving the cellphone to Arnold, the man slammed the c
Arnold looked around him. The room he was in was very luxurious. The gold-decorated roof, marble floor, classic carvings on the walls, and totally perfect magnificent design made Arnold feel like he was in a hospital in the palace. This was the most luxurious hospital Arnold had ever seen.“Wow.” Arnold chuckled in amazement. The sound of the door opening caught Leon's attention. An old woman entered the room. The woman's gaze fell on Arnold, and she smiled.Arnold, who didn't know who the old woman was, just smiled back."Madam Elizabeth, he just woke up a few minutes ago," reported the nurse."Thank God," responded Elizabeth."Madam Elizabeth?" Arnold muttered.“Hey young man, how are you? Are you feeling better?” asked the old woman.“I'm better now; thank you, Madam Elizabeth. So, you brought me here?”“Yes, I found you lying on the road unconscious. What happened? Why did you get hurt?" Elizabeth looked at Arnold with worry in her eyes.“Some men beat me, madam. I thought I was d
Arnold smiled bitterly as he shook his head slowly. “What do you say, madam? There is no way I'm your grandson. Someone in the past must have accidentally found this necklace and given it to me. Who knows, the caretaker of the orphanage might accidentally find it," he dismissed the old woman's statement.Elizabeth shook her head. “No, Arnold. You really are my grandson! You are Arnold Winster, my grandson who was lost as a baby. At first, when I saw your necklace in that room, I thought the same as you. But after seeing the birthmark on your arm, there's no mistaking it; you're my grandson!” She exclaimed while holding Arnold's arm tightly, as if she were afraid of losing her grandson for the second time. Her voice was so emotional.Arnold's lips trembled. He couldn't say anything because he still couldn't believe what had happened.“Arnold, you are my grandson. We really missed you, dear," Elizabeth whined, tears streaming down her cheeks.Arnold's heart skipped a beat. He looked at
Arnold set foot at The Diamond Rose Hotel. Seeing his arrival, the hotel workers' eyes fell on him. They started whispering to each other and laughing at Arnold.“Look at that loser; he has no shame in coming to this hotel again. What does he want to do?”"Look, isn't he the man who ruined Victor Galvoir's proposal last night?"“Yeah, you're right. He was the one. What happened to him? Why is his hand bandaged?”"If I were that woman, I would also choose Victor instead of spending my life with a loser."Laughter could be heard from various corners. Arnold's eyes glanced sharply at them, and the workers just covered their mouths with their palms while holding back laughter. There was no fear of a loser like Arnold.Arnold rushed to the reception desk so he could meet the manager. He wanted to prove that he could pay the fine, even though the hotel was still owned by his family.Arriving in front of the reception desk, there were a couple who were being served by the receptionist. Arnold went to a mall and bought a new cell phone. He logged into his email, and the important numbers stored on his old cell phone were backed up.Arnold also keeps Elizabeth and Sebastian's numbers. He messaged them and told them his new number. After finishing setting up his cellphone, he immediately contacted his best friend, Albert. The call was connected."Hello, who is it?" Albert asked in wonder when he saw an unknown number calling him."It's me, Arnold," Arnold responded.Albert's eyes widened, and he immediately straightened his back, which was initially leaning against the chair.“Arnold, what happened to you? Where have you been? I came to the park last night, but you weren't there. Is everything okay?” There was worried evidence in his tone."Yes, Albert, everything is fine. Last night, there was a little trouble, but it was that trouble that brought me luck. I'm very grateful, even though what happened last night was quite painful," explained Arnold. He smiled faintly.
Arnold has arrived at the building where the party was being held. The driver immediately got out of the car and opened the door for his master. Arnold's appearance looked different compared to the other guests. His hand, which was still bandaged, didn't allow him to wear a tuxedo, so he wore a black, short-sleeved shirt with black trousers. His appearance was very simple. When Arnold arrived at the entrance, the doorman immediately looked at him with probing eyes. He looked more like a waiter than a guest. If he was a waiter, then he shouldn't have entered through the door specifically for guests."Hey, what are you doing here?" snapped the doorman.Arnold stared at the man sharply. Without saying a word, he showed the invitation he had brought. The doorman's expression immediately changed. His face turned pale.“So-sorry, I thought you were a waiter. If you are a waiter, then you shouldn't go through this entrance," he said while looking at the invitation. Fear was evident in his voi
“Come on, Sebastian!” Elizabeth invited her grandson and Sebastian to leave. They were leaving people curious because there was no explanation from Elizabeth.Eric continued to stare at them, who were leaving, until they had disappeared from his sight. "It's possible that stupid guy is Elizabeth Winster's servant," he muttered.Arnold was invited to a room not far from the ballroom. The servants immediately lowered their heads when Arnold and Elizabeth arrived. They entered the room, and their arrival was greeted by a man sitting in a chair with his back to them.Realizing they had arrived, the man got up from his chair, and his gaze immediately looked towards Arnold. His eyes were sparkling with tears. His lips trembled and opened slowly. “Arnold.” He immediately approached Arnold and hugged him tightly.Arnold returned the 45-year-old man's hug. He could tell from that man's attitude that he loved him.“Arnold, this is your uncle, James Winster. He is your father's younger brother,"
Arnold snorted. What repay favors was Eric talking about? The man and his wife tortured Arnold, and they just threw him away. They have also caused pain in his body and left trauma, but they talk about repaying favors? How funny. Arnold sighed heavily before speaking. He tried to respond to the man in front of him with a calm attitude. “Mr. Johansen, you and your wife were the ones who chose to adopt me, and then you tortured me. I will never forget that for the rest of my life, so now don't ever talk about repaying favors because it's so ridiculous!” he exclaimed.“I don't understand why someone like Elizabeth Winster would employ you as her servant. Doesn't she know who you are? If she knew who you were, she would definitely fire you straight away.”“Watch your mouth, Mr. Johansen!” Arnold exclaimed while pointing at Eric.Eric grinned. “You don't even have a family, Arnold. It seems like your parents deliberately threw you into an orphanage," he teased.Arnold's hands were clenche
