2. A Big Trouble

"You want to die, huh?" Edward said breathlessly.

"Stop talking!" Brian replied and now the action of hitting each other was inevitable.

Diana Reid shouted back, "Brian, stop! Let Edward go."

Unfortunately, Diana's screams were ignored by Brian. The girl was getting frustrated.

"What should I do?" Diana muttered confusedly.

She looked around but no one was there. The security post was far from there.

Meanwhile, Edward was starting to get overwhelmed by Brian, whom he never expected to have such great martial arts skills.

Confused, Diana could not think clearly. However, her brain returned to work properly and she contacted the police.

Inwardly, she hoped the police would come there quickly. She was really afraid that Edward would be seriously injured.

"You loser. You can only be violent! You rascal!" Edward cursed in between his fight with Brian.

With a heavy breath, Brian replied, "You ... are just rich boy who uses money to attract girls. Aren't you ashamed?"

After that, Brian hit Edward in the jaw. Edward spat blood but an annoying laugh disturbed Brian's ears. Instantly Brian grabbed Edward by the collar and stared angrily, "Are you laughing?"

Edward punched Brian in the cheek again, causing the young man to stagger.

"Yeah, why? Are all poor people always this cynical with rich people?" he sneered.

Brian gritted his teeth but was given no chance to reply.

"You should know yourself. A commoner like you doesn't deserve to date a girl as beautiful as Diana."

Brian continued to attack Edward again but this time was managed to be pushed away by him.

"Thinking of yourself isn't good, how can you confidently date her?"

"You disgusting useless!" Edward said, spitting sideways.

"Shut the fuck up!" Brian snapped.

"Why? My words are true, right? Why don't you pick up trash on the street? Like your stinky grandfather? You can get money that-"

Edward coughed after Brian's hard punch. Brian's anger was unstoppable. He hated it when someone insulted his grandfather, he would not accept it.

Diana Reid who was still there and just watching started shaking violently.

"Stop it Brian!" the beautiful girl said with a trembling voice.

Brian still didn't want to listen and even wanted to hit Edward again. However, his hands just hung in the air when he heard the sound of a police siren.

The young man turned to Diana with a hurt look, "Diana, you-"

Diana ignored him and helped Edward Stein who smirked at Brian. Before he could say more, Brian was surrounded by several police officers who wanted to arrest him.

The young man also raised his hand and according to be led away.

Along the way, Brian could only look down. The young man just realized the stupidity he had done and could only regret it.

"I ... was lured, sir," Brian said when the questioning began.

"What? Huh, but you've hit him and not just once," the officer said.

Brian gulped, "He also hit me. Isn't this even?"

The officer laughed, "He's defending himself, kid. You're in a big trouble."

"Put him in the cell!" the officer ordered his men.

"Sir, but-"

"You're under arrest until someone from your family vouches for you."

"Guarantee? How much is it, sir?" Brian asked timidly.

"2000 USD."

Brian gawked and now really limped.

Wouldn't it be 2000 USD, just 200 he didn't have it. The young man immediately couldn't bear to think about his grandfather's predicament.

Uh, he wanted to kill himself right then. He was already poor and did something bad.

At this moment he felt that what Edward had said had some truth to it. He shouldn't be in a relationship with a girl.

Because of jealousy, he was threatened with imprisonment and what's worse, his scholarship at campus was also most likely to be revoked.

There was no campus or foundation that would provide scholarships to students with problems. Besides that, it was possible that the University of WestCliff would sanction him or even expel him from there.

Imagining all of that happening, Brian was really getting hard to breathe.

However, two hours later, a police officer came to his cell. "Brian Jones, someone already vouched for you."

Brian who was originally sitting immediately stood up.

"Who is it, sir? My grandfather?" Brian asked, scared.

He really could not see the look on his grandfather's face, which must have been full of disappointment.

"Yes."

Brian suddenly closed his eyes for a moment but slowly got out of the holding cell and walked with heavy steps.

"Please!"

Brian nodded and walked towards the front after being officially released.

Outside, an old man with a shabby appearance was standing with his hunched body.

"Grandpa!" Brian called softly.

"Let's go home, kid!" the man asked in his late sixties, still smiling at his adopted grandson.

Brian approached and helped his grandfather down the stairs. The young man was speechless. His guilt was so strong it made him mute. However, Karl did not let the young man remain silent for long.

While walking along, Karl said, "Have you eaten?"

"Not yet, Grandpa. But-"

"Then let's eat before we go home!" Karl said.

He pointed to a fast food restaurant that was open 24 hours but Brian immediately shook his head, "No Grandpa. It's expensive there."

"I have money, Brian. Don't worry!" Karl said casually.

Karl was about to step but Brian prevented him.

"Don't you want to ask?"

"Ask about what?"

"About me being arrested," Brian answered slowly.

Karl sighed, "You must have a reason for that. I am sure."

Brian really didn't feel good, "I'm just jealous and angry. I should have restrained myself, but I can't, Grandpa. I-"

"That's enough! It's okay if you hit a friend who annoys you once in a while."

Brian looked confused, "Grandpa?"

Karl instead smiled and patted his grandson on the back, "Fighting, hitting each other between men is normal. As long as you don't just kill him."

Brian was stunned. "Are you not angry with me?"

"Why should I be angry with you?" Karl replied with smile.

Brian swallowed his saliva hard, "I might lose my scholarship and I might get kicked out of campus, grandpa."

Karl York fell silent. Brian really felt so guilty.

"No problem."

Brian's eyes widened, "It doesn't matter, Grandpa? But-"

"If your scholarship is revoked and you are expelled, then you just have to transfer to another campus, start again from the beginning. I will help you," Karl said calmly.

Brian was at a loss for words. He never expected his grandfather to be so relaxed. Even though in his years, his grandfather always showed himself off to his friends.

He was so proud to have a grandson who could study at the University of WestCliff and got a scholarship.

However, he did know that his grandfather was always kind and never once got angry with him.

"Where did you get the 2000 USD from? That's not a small amount," Brian said suddenly curious.

"My savings."

Brian stared in shock. Karl took a deep breath, realizing that his grandson still wanted to know more.

He began to explain, "That's money I collected for you just in case you needed extra money for your college, Brian. But, what can I do. You must be expelled immediately."

"All right, let's eat! I am very hungry!" Karl said.

Brian immediately led his grandfather to cross. However, suddenly from the left a car was driving very fast.
