Chapter 6

Shawn returned Viona's cell phone. The girl smiled sweetly with her eyes looking down, and her cheeks flushed red.

Viona was shy. "Thank you, Mr. Shawn."

The girl turned around and went back to work, while Shawn went back to his seat to enjoy the barbeque he hadn't finished eating because of the drunks.

The golden brown meat was so tempting, the aroma was so distinctive, and the honey glaze on top was so delicious. However, when Shawn was about to devour it, he felt a subtle vibration in his pants pocket. He put off biting into the meat and grabbed his cell phone from his pants pocket.

It was a call from Andre, his office mate. Shawn immediately took the call casually. "Hello? What's up, Andre?"

Andre replied in a panicked voice, "Hey, what are you doing? Why are you skipping work when we have a deadline like this? The Division Head is furious with your absence."

Andre's shrill voice sounded very annoying. Andre was his senior in the office, and he often used his senior status to tell Shawn to finish his work. Of course, he panicked when Shawn didn't come in and suddenly had a deadline.

Shawn listened to him and tried to take it in stride. Shawn did skip class. Although Shawn was a diligent employee, he didn't like the atmosphere in the office environment. The Division Head, a fat man with a mustache whose head looked like a bowling ball, always discriminated against him. He gave Shawn tough jobs that weren't even in his regulatin, like fixing computers, air conditioners, or photocopiers. Shawn only got a small wage from his main job, installing motorcycle wheels at the factory, and Shawn didn't get a bonus for the extra work that the Division Head often gave him.

Shawn sighed lazily. "What did that bald guy say?"

Andre spoke quickly and seemed to be in a hurry. "You have no idea how angry he was. You better get here quick before the Division Chief explodes and beats you up and cuts your pay. You can't be a loser who sacrifices your friends. Get back here and help us, damn it!"

Shawn furrowed his brow. "Deduct a paycheck?"

Andre let out a long sigh. "The Division Chief asked you to come and apologize to him. Hurry up, damn it!"

Andre hung up the phone. Shawn snorted in annoyance, "Senior asshole!"

Shawn had long wanted to get out of that toxic company. Everyone just treated him like a tool. Shawn couldn't even enjoy a few happy moments eating meat because of them.

[Ding!]

[You got the mission!]

The blue window in front of Shawn caught his attention again. His eyes were wide open with the task that the system was about to give him.

[Job Exchange]

[Return to your office. Submit your resignation, and you won't have to apologize. There's nothing to apologize for that you didn't make.]

[If you can perform according to the criteria, you will be rewarded (Director status in Gold K Company). If you fail, you will be punished (your balance will be reduced by 30000).]

[Good luck.]

Shawn clenched his fist. Feeling that this mission was something perfect. A very good opportunity. "I can finally leave them and get a new chance! "

Shawn hurriedly made his resignation letter and went to his office.

It didn't take long until Shawn arrived at the front of the office. He entered, and he found many workers looking at him sarcastically. One of them was Andre. However, Shawn just ignored him and let him work on cooking those many wheels. Shawn was only focused on one thing, the Division Head's room.

Shawn knocked on the door and then entered. He found the fat, bald man behind the desk smoking a cigarette. Even though he wore a suit, he couldn't hide his fierce face.

Shawn came closer and took the resignation letter from under his jacket. "Mr. Division Head, I would like to submit a request to resign. I don't think I fit into this company."

The Division Head looked up, frowning at Shawn's face. "Is this the scenario you're playing? Making it hard for me when I have a deadline and then resigning? Didn't you forget that last week you cost me because the copier you were repairing suddenly jammed? I was late sending out printouts because of you, dammit."

Shawn thought this was normal. Roy, the bald guy, would blame him for his mistakes. He wouldn't even hesitate to cut his salary if that happened. Shawn had tried to resign politely, but it didn't seem to work. Roy continued to insult him.

Shawn responded casually with a slight squint, "You won't have that anymore, Mr. Head Division, because I'm no longer in the future. So, sign my resignation, and I'll be gone from your sight."

Roy felt challenged. The fat, balding man picked up the expensive pen tucked into his breast pocket. "Alright, I'll sign this letter. I don't care if you're the scum of the earth or a full-time employee. Your stupidity cannot be tolerated!"

Roy signed the letter quickly. Then he looked sharply at Shawn. Shawn was about to take the letter, but Roy grabbed his wrist.

Roy then yelled in Shawn's face, "You son of a bitch! How dare you put your face in front of me. I don't care who you are and whether you're the dumbest person in the company, but you're so bad and annoying!"

Roy pushed Shawn's body until he fell on his stomach. When Shawn was about to get up, Roy stepped on his palm, and Shawn winced in pain.

Roy angrily said to Shawn, "I'll forgive your ridiculous behavior if you'll kiss my shoe. Being humiliated by scum like you makes me want to puke!"

Shawn clenched his teeth. The Division Chief's attitude had gone too far. "You're not my boss, damn it. You're just a piece of shit transformed into a human being!"

Roy then looked up. He lifted the foot that had stepped on Shawn's hand. Shawn immediately stood up, holding back his annoyance.

Roy grinned, "Brave words. I gave you a chance to kiss my foot and apologize. I could have just restrained you and made you a lowly plaything. Do it now, Shawn!"

Roy put his left foot forward while showing a dirty, dusty black shoe.

Shawn clenched his fists. He then lunged and punched Roy in the face. "You bald bastard!"

Shawn's punch hit Roy's face so hard that Roy recoiled from the blow. Enraged, Roy pressed the emergency button under the table. Within seconds, two security guards entered the room.

Roy shouted, "Security! Get that bastard!"
