Episode 7

Chapter 7

"Okay, I think I can pull some strings" Shawn admitted almost cursing himself for doing so.

"And about her, I can't forgive her. I am sure she has some secret she is hiding. I will find out and make her pay" Shawn promised

"How?" She inquired, this was the part she liked best.

"I hope you're smart enough to know you can't approach her by yourself?" She added

"Of course, I know that. I am not that dumb" Shawn objected

"You were dumb enough the first time" she jeered

"She will pay, and well" Shawn smiled mischievously

"You just do your thing and I will do mine" Shawn added

"I am Leah, and I think we will be great partners" she stretched out her hand.

Shawn was confused as to what the handshake was for. For the partnership or for having a deal.

"We are strangers," Shawn said trying to remind her of her early advice

"I won't forget that, now the problem is you. Can you remember to pretend to not know me?" She asked and just then they were interrupted by someone entering the room.

"Young master, sorry to bother you but we have to take her back to the school environment now" the old man bowing, had said

"You are a young master?" She asked wide-eyed. Whether it was excitement or being enthralled, Shawn could not tell.

"It's what they call me. I have tried to make them stop but as you can see, I have failed in that part too" Shawn explained

"Should you not love it? You are one lucky son of a bitch, you have everything and yet don't want it"

"I just don't want to build on someone's legacy. It will hunt me for the rest of my life and I surely do not want to regret my life later on so I decide now and today to build my legacy, to build a name for myself or everything I do would be tied to my father and his legacy" Shawn explained

"You sound like you hate your father," she noticed and with that, she stood up to wish him goodbye

"See you tomorrow, Leah," Shawn said as she made for the exit"

"See you tomorrow, Shawn" she responded

And for the first time in her life, she felt alive, she felt human. For most of my life, I have been lonely and alone yet with Shawn, I did not have to feel so alone anymore.

It was like when she was with him, all her troubles had stopped and the works just seems to have stopped rotating.

Surely, this wasn't one of the times to be catching feelings and emotions that later make one so weak and vulnerable, something she had always detested.

All her life, she hid away. From others, the world around her. For whose protection though? Not herself, but for everyone else. She did not want them to feel how she was feeling.

She did not want anyone to feel hollow and blank. So she overcompensated by trying hard to be kinder and more humorous. When she loved, she loved hard and gave all of herself. There was no question you received all that she was.

When she broke, she broke like a vintage Royal Albert china dish with red and yellow roses on the rim. You can try to glue the pieces back together to be whole again, but it will never be the same. There will be small slivers that are just lost and not salvageable that will never make it back to the dish.

Will she be the same after that? I do not know. Probably not. But she does not dwell on that. She focuses on the now. One day at a time. To make it through each day.

They say the best measure of success

is, like, the clique you run with or the accolades you receive.

But her metric was a little different. You wanna how you can tell when you've reached the top? When someone wants to destroy you.

Who wants a bite of her? Trick question

Everyone wanted a bite of her. She knew. So ominous.

You're probably like, "Why is she talking

in riddles when her life looks perfect?"

"Tonight was fun," She said to her love, Tom.

"Yeah. I'm just bummed we're gonna be apart all summer. Who am I gonna play with?" He inquired

"You could play with yourself" she replied

"Oh. You've got some jokes." He answered and kisses her

"Babe."

"Hmm?"

"Tonight was cute and everything,

but you know I think that video is stupid, right? Like, I'm just trying to get into Cambridge, and I need all the help I can get."

"Yeah, of course. Yeah, those lists are bullshit, but you looked very, very hot in that video." He says and inhales

"Yeah? Oh my God. You think so?"

"Yes. You were so hot. You know, maybe you could send me something to keep me company this summer."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, just like a little something." He added

"Yeah?"

"A little video."

"A little video?" Leah asked, puzzled

"Yeah."

"You want me to?" She asked gesturing with her hands over her body and gasping

"Yeah. I love you." He assured her

"I love you too," Leah said

"Can you kiss me?" She begged

"Yeah."

(The next morning, at school)

Leah was walking towards the kicker section with her friend discussing Montana's birthday dinner.

"I don't believe that Montana's actually celiac. I won't choose some random restaurant for my birthday dinner just because another restaurant has a better gluten-free menu." Natasha says

"Makes no sense. Like, she's so selfish sometimes." Leah agreed

"I'm sorry. Am I being paranoid, or is everyone staring at me right now?" Leah asked, puzzled as to why

"And, like, not in a good way." She added, carefully noticing the looks

"She has to be like…" one girl was saying

"Loved your video, Leah." Another girl chipped in and all phones were heard chiming, what could they be sharing?

Another laughs and says,

"Leah."

"What?" I yelled

"What?" I repeated

"Tom" she heard her voice playing over the video, moaning

"Leah, the cam girl." Another guy jeered

"Oh my God." Was all she could mutter and she ran towards where she knew she could find Tom.
