Heath hummed to himself as he flipped through more pages of the files in his current possession.
In the name of collecting data about his new environment, Heath had observed their target the entire day before proceeding to ask both Perry and Lillian if they had any additional information on each and every student of I-9. After all, above all else, he was now a teacher. So, rather than focusing on his mutant co-worker, his primary attention should be on the students’ development.
With that in mind, Heath carefully examined each file, paying close attention to every student's record. He reviewed their accomplishments, acknowledged their difficulties, and tried to understand what made each of them special. In his new role, Heath wasn't just keeping track of facts; he was also making initial notes on how to assist these young students in growing and succeeding in their futures.
Regarding that, quite surprisingly, through the short observation, Heath discovered that the mutant had a few good ideas if he decided to take things seriously. Perry was, surprisingly, an intelligent being.
It seemed like he was committed to his role as a teacher as well. Heath found the mutant to be sincere when he asked about why he wanted to be a teacher out of all things. With that in mind, Heath decided to ask for a bit more information regarding the students from both Perry and Lillian before his first time teaching the class later.
‘Class I-9. The final section in the roster of nine classes within the 9th grade at Aetheridge Academy High School. The reason why the section name is put upfront is due to how the hierarchy works within the academy…’ Heath couldn’t help but scowl as he noticed this.
The higher your class, the more power you hold among your peers. 'There are even reports of a student from class B-7 harassing a 9th grader from a lower section.'
Unsurprisingly, the report wasn’t taken seriously by the teachers or the faculty. There wasn’t even a written account of that event or any similar incident. He wouldn’t have known this if it weren't for his parallel self's memory of the teachers gossiping loudly in their lounge back at the main building.
And yet, class I-9 exists.
‘I suppose it’s not a permanent class though…’
Class I-9 is a special class that doesn’t appear every year. In fact, it was created specifically to isolate troublesome students if within a grade there are more than three problematic kids to handle.
'This year we have eight students in total,' Heath hummed. It seems like his parallel self was against the creation of this class and the placement of these kids. After all, now that he reads their chart, it’s not like these students were stupid, well, not all, if any.
‘These kids.’ From the looks of it, it’s easy to tell how they’re made outcasts because no one really wanted to handle them at the main building.
‘And the moment Henko asked the chairman to keep my job, I was destined to teach here regardless of Perry’s existence.’ It seems like his parallel self was also abandoned by the faculty.
From his parallel self’s memory, Heath found out how the chairman would have been the one whipping these students back into shape, considering that there’s usually only one or two students annually.
The school boasts an impeccable track record with no instances of dropouts or students being held back a grade. However, they also have quite a high passing grade to maintain. So, it’s not that the passing grade was pushed lower; rather, the students were pushed to achieve good grades no matter the means.
‘Well, ain’t that a fix?’ Heath found his lips twitching as he closed the files about the students. He’s only read what’s on the surface, yet from these data alone, he could already see the grand picture on how the school works.
‘Now last but not least,’ he hummed, ‘—the blatant anomaly who now acts as the homeroom teacher of the I-9 class.’
[Perry, a self-proclaimed 32-year-old male, remains a mysterious figure with no known family background or discernible details about his past. Upon his arrival at the headquarters, he presented an unconventional trade proposal that raised eyebrows among the team. However, it's worth noting that Perry has not exhibited any signs of hostility without provocation.
One of the most intriguing aspects of Perry's abilities is his extraordinary capacity to stretch his body, a feat that defies conventional human physiology. Additionally, he has demonstrated the astonishing capability to manifest additional limbs, akin to tentacles, at will. This unique attribute sets him apart as a mutant with potential capabilities that warrant further investigation.
Despite ongoing efforts, there has been limited success in unearthing substantial information about Perry's origins or personal history. It's plausible that the dossier currently available for review is intentionally limited, leaving critical aspects of his background shrouded in secrecy. This suggests the existence of a 'safe' file, meticulously curated to reveal only a fraction of what may lie beneath the surface.
Perry's enigmatic presence poses a compelling enigma, one that invites deeper exploration into the extent and nature of his extraordinary abilities. As further research unfolds, it is anticipated that new revelations will shed light on the true potential and background of this intriguing individual.]
‘Such an excessive word-stretch,’ he sweatdropped after putting the file down. He couldn’t help but find the report to be a dummy version of the original one if it actually exists.
‘How interesting…’ He couldn’t help but comment once he finished reading everything given to him. ‘It seems like I couldn’t get exposed to everything I wanted to know.’
Then again, considering his current status as a law-abiding and innocent civilian, he’s not surprised that the ‘safe’ file doesn’t contain anything alarming.
‘I suppose it was for the better,’ Heath inwardly nodded in approval.
And so, having gathered all this valuable information, he felt well-prepared to commence teaching this intriguing class.
"Pfft— BAHAHAHAHA what's with that apron?" Kian laughed as he saw the brunet's newly added attire, which clashed with Heath's already-questionable choice of clothing. "Maa~ don't you think it's sort of cute, Kianichy? I made them myself~" Yet, instead of feeling offended, the former royalty just grinned, hand in hip after putting down the fourth tray on the table. The home economics teacher actually felt rather proud of this project he’s wearing. After all, the decoration on his apron, while it might look rather silly, was meaningful to him since he added it to honor his parents. His mother always loved to wear frilly dresses when she could, and an embroidery of a lion honored his father, who used to be called The Young Lion during his reign. He knew that it's not good to drown in sorrow. So at the very least, he wanted to keep the memories dear and wear things that would prevent him from ever forgetting his regret. “Now, now, before we can start the class, I made some treats for y
Putting aside the initial shock caused by the uproar at the beginning of the class, everyone could now see how Heath was not only a prominent teacher but also an excellent cook.‘It’s quite amazing just how efficient Sensei is,’ Zane couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe. There wasn't a single wasted moment. Moreover, the brunet displayed the patience of a saint, as evidenced by his tolerance for Zara’s clumsiness, Lia’s never-ending questions, and even Perry’s constant disruptions. It was surprising how unflappable he remained.Actually, that last part left Zane slightly baffled. “I thought the class would end up in disaster…”“I know right? I’m just as surprised,” Jitsuo expressed his astonishment. After the previous incident, the brunet eventually approached the sulking homeroom teacher, presenting a fresh batch of cupcakes, ones that were still in the oven, as compensation for what had transpired. Perry dubbed this as the only correct way to apologize after such a tragic prank.
"Enjoying yourself, Perry-sensei?" that brunet inquired as he walked towards the figure seated on the field, a gentle breeze brushed past them both. The said figure grinned in response, "Yep, as always~"With a stem of dandelion tucked behind his ear for some reason, Perry patted the ground next to him, inviting the home economic teacher to sit with him. The two were relaxing, and there was even this peaceful aura around the mutant."I was wondering why the kiddos were getting more energetic in the middle of their routine, well now I know why~" Heath chuckled as he glanced at the homeroom teacher while laying down a picnic carpet before lowering the basket he brought along."It's so hard to be such a motivational figure," Perry playfully complained.Heath shook his head, bemused, then took his seat. "I'm not even going to dispute that. The students adore you."To which, Perry replied with mirrored grace, "I can say the same with you, Heath-kun." That homeroom teacher was sincere howe
"Should we… be worried that those two are hitting it off this well?" Jitsuo sweatdropped. He was among the few students demoted to this class rank due to a drastic decline in his scores rather than bad behavior, just like some of his peers. By now, no one is even paying attention to the gym class or Lillian anymore, including Lia, who replied to their class rep with glee, "I don't know, man. But I'm preparing myself for something to happen." She was bemused by the sight of their Heath-sensei aggressively shoving the remaining contents of the food basket into their mutagenic Homeroom teacher's mouth. “Honestly, I’m not even sure what we’re witnessing right now, but shouldn't we interfere?” Zane sweatdropped at the rapid pace of their teachers’ bizarre and fast interactions. To him, observing these two felt like watching the personification of his last two brain cells at 2 am, counting down the hours to an exam. He found it both hilarious and concerning how, in one moment, the two a
"Hey, you," calling out the dazed brunet, Henko waved his hand in front of Heath’s line of view to gain the younger’s attention since calling his name doesn’t seem to be so effective anymore, “you okay, dude?” “ah, yes? Sorry, you were saying?” Lips pursed into a line, Henko was clearly unimpressed with his masking, “Is there something the matter, Heath? You've been so distracted since dinner time.” And it’s morning now. A brand new day, yet his cousin looked like he hadn’t even had a wink of rest. Much to his dismay, his intuition was right. Ah, sorry, it’s nothing much. There’s just something on my mind.” Sheepishly scratching the back of his head, Heath offers another smile in hope it’ll make the other less worried. However, unfazed by any of that, Henko, who has seen the exhausted look that the other slips up a moment ago, poked him with another question, “Nothing serious, but consuming your waking hours?” He made a face at Heath, eyes staring straight at the pair of brown, sho
As soon as he reached the school ground, he noticed that only Perry was in the teacher room. The mutant was comically writing in his planner, like he usually does during his morning routine, when Heath greeted him before heading to class. A yawn escaped his lips as he made his way through the creaky hallway. "Damn, I'm tired," he thought. He knew that Henko had been pointing this out during breakfast, but by then, his mind was still running a mile away. Meanwhile, despite the buzzing alarm in his head, nothing seemed out of the ordinary right now. So, whatever his Enhanced Insight was trying to warn him about, it likely wouldn't happen yet. Probably somewhere around noon, or at the earliest, when his two other coworkers arrived at the school. According to Perry, they would arrive in three hours or so because they had a meeting with the chairman first. "Honestly, the fact that the chairman is agreeing to any of this is—" he paused, searching for the right word. "Sick? Icky?" Well, at
"Sensei, are you okay?" A different voice chimed in, snapping him out of grief as he saw Lia and the two other students behind her, who earlier volunteered to help him clean up. "Hmm? Why yes, Lia-chan. A thought just crossed my mind, that's all," he smiled. "Really? You were so distracted, though," she dragged on, obviously curious but not wanting to make the other uncomfortable. "You can share with us so it wouldn't bother you too much, Heath-sensei," Zane added, looking just as concerned, in which the brunet smiled. 'They're such nice children indeed.' He can’t believe that there are adults with high power out there who dares to taint these children’s innocence just to keep their own hands clean. "Well, It might be a bit disturbing, but since you're asking so kindly~" Heath decided to humor them a bit. "What do you think of Perry-sensei as sushi?" The three students were dumbstruck while the redhead, who was standing behind all of them. "Probably doesn't taste as good as real
An astonished expression could be seen in the gleam of the other male's eyes. However, it was not long later that he cleared his throat, “Hmm, that’s good for you.” He then followed up immediately with the formal introduction of the new recruit, cutting short the brief slip of emotion on his face. “Well, Sagara-san, let me introduce you to Mister Orion Conman.” He said, gesturing at the youngest in the room, “He’s been recruited to assist the students’ study from a letter of recommendation from someone,” The man explained vaguely while Orion, just like yesterday, reached his hand out to shake Heath’s hand. “I’ll be in your care, Sagara-san~!” a silly grin adorned his face as Heath took his hand and shook it. Putting aside Orion’s demeanor, Heath noticed that Lillian was giving him a stare from where she stood, not so far behind the young man. ‘I guess they wanted me to keep quiet about yesterday.’ He gave a nod, both to answer the greeting and to the secret agent. Then again, befor
